I want to tell you how HAPPY I am with your parts service and your youtube video on repairing the condenser fan motor. The video was stellar and allowed me, a 74-year-old woman, to diagnose what was wrong with my 28-year-old Whirlpool refrigerator AND FIX IT!!!! I actually went looking for a new fridge and found the replacement for this one. It was so inferiorly made compared to mine of 28 years ago! Ugh... I just didn't want to give it up. I told a guy in an appliance store well, maybe I will look at youtube videos and fix it. He said no, it's the condenser, you won't be able to fix it. Well, thanks to you having the part but mostly thanks to Steve who made the detailed and carefully precise video of how to install the motor, I was able to do it myself! I am so proud of myself. Wow... thank you, thank you, thank you!
I have to tell y'all how great your parts are and the videos are a great help also. I've bought parts from y'all a few years ago and was very happy with your service, quick shipment and price. One thing I would like to add for those that are experiencing a warm freezer due to this fan going bad, like it did on mine. If this is the problem and you have a freezer full of food, don't panic. First, to ensure the food stays frozen and the condensing coils are on the bottom like this type is. Pull the refrigerator out, and take that cardboard covering, shown in this video, off temporarily and use a table top or box fan. Place the fan on the floor behind the refrigerator so that it will blow air across the compressor and the coils, turn it on and you can push the refrigerator back in it's place accounting for the thickness or the amount of space the fan take up behind the refrigerator. It will stick out a bit from where it was, but that little trick saved me a freezer full of meat during the hottest part of the summer, when that fan motor quit. That cooled the compressor and coils enough to keep the temp in the freezer down to 5 F degrees and the refrigerator section at about 35 F degrees, until the replacement fan motor got here about 5 days later. That little trick saved the meat meant for the weekend cook out and kept the beer cold. It also saved the compressor from burning out and saved me from having to buy a new refrigerator at a time when cash was a bit tight. Sometimes you have to think outside of the box and use what you have on hand or even buy something readily available to work a temporary fix. I happen to have a couple of fans at the house that worked to take over the cooling of the compressor and coils.
I love it how this guy is so chill and calm while doing this. Every other amateur would be swearing like a sailor while doing this, trying to get those tiny screws into those tiny nooks and crannies. Great instructions.
Thank you! This was very helpful! I just replaced my condenser fan motor and this tutorial covered all of the important stuff. We noticed our problem because the outside of the refrigerator was hot to touch. After vacuuming the dust bunnies under fridge in front and back, I noticed the fan would not cut on. II don’t have the know how to determine if the fan problem was due to a voltage supply problem, so I gambled and purchased a non refundable new condenser fan motor for $119. Your tutorial was spot on with a few Minor differences in my situation (like the bracket was different and the plug was embedded in a slot in the motor so I didn’t have to mess with cutting cords.). Gamble paid off!
Thank you very much for the answer. I gotta say, I found this video while googling for info about problems with the refrigerator and I'm very impressed. You guys have an ample selection of very informative videos. And Steve is just great. He has a clear tone and that professorial yet buddy-like demeanor when talking. Very explanatory and effective. Thanks for making these, you do a great job guys.
Thank you so much for the awesoem videos!!! Replaced evap fan motor and fridge is back to normal and working pretty good. You all are a blessing! Thanks again!!!
Thank you for this video. I was able to follow your steps, and I'm happy to say that I installed my new condenser fan motor without any problems. Thanks again!
If the fan is making a lot of noise, that is a dead giveaway that it needs replacing. Otherwise, pull the fridge away from the wall, remove the back cover and plug it in. Open the fridge door and wait for the compressor to come on. When the compressor comes on you will hear a running sound. Look to see if the fan is turning. If not, turn the blades with a stick to see if it will begin turning. If it is turning and not making a bunch of noise, then the fan is ok. If the fan is not turning then it may need replacing or maybe it is not getting power. You would need to get a volt meter and check that first before replacing the motor. The refrigerator will still cool but it will not be very efficient and will waste your electricity. Of course, if the fan does run but makes noise, the bearings are going bad and you should do a replacement. I hope this helps, mine ran but make a obnoxious noise.
Good video , I ‘d like to add a very important thing, do not bend the fan blade , if you bend it it will make noise and it’s very hard to bend it back to the original shape , that’s very important
I have a kenmore 59672912200 and the fan and compressor are not coming on. When I straight wired them through the relay, they both work. So what is causing no power to both the fan and compressor. Both the freezer and frig are not cooling/freezing?
I have a Samsung RS2630sh side by side fridge and i have three questions: 1) My condenser FAN on the rear bottom is located between the condenser/radiator and the big black bottle. The air flow is away from radiator and towards the bottle? Is that the normal/good air flow direction? 2) The freezer side keeps condensing at the bottom and great huge ice piles up inside the freezer at the bottom engulfing the bottom tray. What do i need to fix to do away with this icing issue once and for all? 3) The fridge side suddenly stopped cooling. What is the fix for this? Thank you so much in advance for your help. Mike
The symptoms of a bad condenser fan motor most of the time is that the cooling capacity decreases, also the doors by the gasket get extremely hot , and the outside of the refrigerator get hot to the touch too , sometimes the fan make noise , other times just won’t run , many times the door gasket get brown because of the heat , that fan releases or vent the heat out And if is bad , the heat spread across the refrigerator, and when you replace it take the time to clean the condenser coil with a brush , most of the time you can open both doors and take out the kikck plate on the front by pulling it out of the clips , some refrigerators use a few screws but most of them are clips
Thanks for the video it was a great tutorial! However after I installed the new condenser fan, it ran for about 30 seconds then the fan and the compressor both turned off and will not turn back on? Can you advise me if I did something wrong or if something else may have happened? Thank you
Hi I have a question Have you ever replaceed a condenser fan motor on a Kitchenaide builtin fridge when the high side is on top, I can not seem to figure out how to get to the motor, Do I pull the unit from the wall To get to the back OR? any tips? Thank You!
I just installed a new condenser fan. The fan sits between the compressor and the condenser coils. The air is flowing on to the compressor. Is this the correct air flow or should it be blowing air on the condenser coils?
i have a whirlpool 22cf sxs ref i bought in 2008 the freezer is getting cold enough to make ice but the fridge side really aint getting cold the vent at the top of the fridge side is blowing air a little bit you can feel colder air comeing from vent on freezer side the blower moter is working but i dont no if it is working full speed could it be a defrost problem there has been no drainage of water
my fridge is a KitchenAid (mod.KSRA22KKSS02), the cold air from de freezer in the top part is continuos and my food freezes especially in the top, but also in other areas. What solution can you suggest to me for this problem? Thank you in advance.
Hi..my fridge is not cooling..i have a GE Model Hss25gtfabb..it cools but very little..the compressor turns on but the condenser fan does not..i can feel vibration coming for the motor but no movement.. any thoughts?
I have a Fridgadaire fridge in garage that stopped cooling, but I noticed the condensor fan motor sometimes dosen't start back up with the compressor. If you push outward on the fan blade it starts up usually. I cleaned it the best I could do. Should I change the motor and is that why the fridge is not cooling down properly?
I have a Frigidaire model FRT21LRG and it seems to be running fine but I smell burning in the back by the wires. I vacuumed out the coils, cleaned the tray and vacuumed below. What am I missing? I plug it back in and the smell is strong.
Hi, can dusty coils cause the fridge to overheat? The fridge on my parents house doesn't have the back cover anymore, I guess some technician took if off. I ask because the fridge is getting very hot on the sides. Thanks in advance.
This isn't when someone turns off the water, is it? That can happen if the ice maker hoses encounter a sudden increase in pressure, causing them to knock.
I have an LG Express Cool fridge/freezer, a couple of years old, which is making "revving" noises from the freezer fan? Sounds like a plane taking off sometimes, or a car revving its engine and can go for a long time, mainly at night but sometimes all day. Fridge and freezer still seem to be cold enough, but the noise is driving us crazy. Could this be a condenser issue as per this video or something else? We have tried turning off overnight but doenst help. Can you advise please?
I have a Kenmore fridge freezer ice maker water, fridge in the bottom of the fridge side every half hour it makes a loud knocking thumping sounds almost like some one knocking on a door...any idea what this might be????? any help would be greatly appreciated.
Great tutorial! My Whirlpool Gold fridge has this part number on the condenser motor: Panasonic UDQR003W7. Is this the same part you reference on your video: Whirlpool Part #833697? Thanks for taking the time! Michael Raleigh NC (The model # is GD5SSHAXKQ00 Mfg Date : 11-01)
My fridge doesn't get cold it's (warm) up top, but the bottom freezer compartment freezes drastically. Its a Matag model #MBB22256GES built in 2002 Any help or info as to what parts I would need would be appreciated. Thanks!
It is a suction fan, It pulls cooling air thru the front grill and exhausts it through the vent holes in the back cover . That is why it is important to replace the back cover since the cooling air will short circuit and not circulate around the coils.
my refrigerator is making a loud vibrating noise that is coming from the bottom of the refigerator that when i push the condenser up slightly the noise is a little less but still there. Can this noise be coming from the motor condenser fan?
@@Thatguy-cf9qj My Coldspot started making a high pitch squeal and the opened up the back and the fan blade had flown off. I just put it back in but it makes a noise now and order an new fan condenser kit.
I have Whirlpool Refrigerator MOD #ED5PVEXWS06 The fan has been starting and stopping lately. I unplugged it today and it started up again. No ice buildup in back and I've cleaned it out. Does it sound like I need to replace the motor?

So does the fan blow air toward the condenser or pull heat away from it?
It is a suction fan, It pulls cooling air thru the front grill and exhausts it through the vent holes in the back cover . That is why it is important to replace the back cover since the cooling air will short circuit and not circulate around the coils.
I was cleaning the dust around the fan and coils but forgot to unplug. So I damaged a blade of my 4 blade fan. Can the blade be replace only?
Some models do have the fan blade available separately. What is your model number?

the yellow ,blue and white wires how can I wire it up for a fan for something diff. ????
my refrigerator is making a loud vibrating noise that is coming from the bottom of the refigerator that when i push the condenser up slightly the noise is a little less but still there. Can this noise be coming from the motor condenser fan?
My fan started clanking do I need to replace the entire motor?
I think it's actually the motor clanking lol otherwise wise your fan blade is loose which rarely happens

Can i take four wire and wire into my 2 wire?
what happens if someone connected the wires wrong?
Thank you!!!
Can't believe he did not clean the fan off. Soak it in water while you are attaching the new motor to the bracket..
WOULD SOMEONE ANSWER THE QUESTION OF AIR FLOW DIRECTION? TOWARD THE COILS OR AWAY?
+Phillip Rauscher Away, you want to draw the air across the coils, not blow it onto the coils.
Away, with air being pulled in the vents at the front of the fridge, over the coils, and out the back of the fridge.
dam workin on tht old dinosaur ass thng
