Thanks for the video, saved a lot of time. In my case the rear and left hand clips were solid (13 years old and still on its original battery!). I needed to get a long flat headed screwdriver in and angled towards the battery casing to free off and release. Also, don't forget to reattach the wiring loom clip to the right hand side of the casing when everything's fastened back down.
I spent an hour waiting for Halfords to fit my battery after which they said sorry that they couldn't get it off and failed to re attach the power steering cable .I have a cold it's minus 2 I am no mechanic but with this video and in about 20 minutes I did this by streetlight thanks mate I could I have done it without you.
Many thanks for the trick on how to release the clip at the RH side. The left front clip needed a small screwdriver twisted under it to release. You saved me much time and confusion
Thanks for the tips. The clip I had to release with screwdriver was at the back. The previous owner or garage must have got frustrated as the plastic holder was cracked.
Wenn man es einmal gemacht hat und es weiß wie man die Abdeckung von der Batterie entfernen kann, ist es dann nicht mehr so schwer. Ich fahre selbst einen VW Fox.
Yes I agree bastard to do stupid idea from VW same as getting into the headlight with battery in the way now i know where i went wrong cheers for good video
@@sjp1285 haha that's alright, managed it, quite easily actually. I think it was a smaller battery (maybe?) as the clips weren't attached very well if at all, made it alot easier. Your video helped alot too, thank you.
Hi, technically you're right, you remove the negative terminal first, but this battery was flat dead (so it made no difference) and my main priority was removing the battery casing.

It was my 1st car too back in 2015. After I manged tor crash it in 2017 I bought a 2nd one but with the stronger Engine (75 Horspower). Now I need to replace the battery, the loudspeaker in the right door (I think I will replace both) and a set of new tires. As a new driver I think it is a decent car, you can learn how to drive, bump it sometimes without expensive repair and it is still bigger than the successor (VW UP!).
Excellent video saved me a costly trip to the garage - thanks
You sir are a saint. I changed the battery on my VW Fox in 20 minutes thanks to you!

oh dear mate!! negative or earth lead off FIRST!! that isolates the battery .earth lead back on LAST!

@@sjp1285Hiya when putting back the new battery what lead do I need to put first negative or positive or does it not matter?
