See, "Earthbound 3" *would* make sense if either of the other games were called Earthbound 2, but no. Mother 2 was localized as "Earthbound" and Mother 1 was localized as "Earthbound Beginnings." I think both with the established naming scheme, and how titling tends to work in game franchises, I think a non-numbered title would work best like "Earthbound Endings" or "Earthbound Final."

Right now, it's almost as if the localized versions are structured so that "Earthbound" is the first entry, "Earthbound beginnings" is the next entry and a prequel, and Mother 3 is an unreleased sequel to Earthbound. Other ideas off the top of my head for Mother 3's localized name would be "Earthbound Epilogue" or "Earthbound Finale", or maybe they could go for a different approach by calling it "Earthbound: A New Era" due to how radically different the world is compared to the prior two entries. I'm still not really a fan of the ideas I've come up with though, as they don't seem to exude the series' distinctive charm.

Kinda obvious when you think about how Duster lived most of his life, being forced to train under Wess most of his life, not being allowed to live a normal childhood, thereby not being able to make any meaningful connections with those around him, think about it, when the villagers around him refer to Duster they just call him “Wess’ son” because they barely know the guy, during the events of Mother 3 he’s around people for the first time in his life, and genuinely enjoying his time with them, knowing that the dragon could destroy the world and by proxy, his friends, he didn’t want to loss them, he didn’t wanna be alone again.
I think if Mother 3 ever got localised it should be ‘Earthbound : Fall of the Pig King’ since that was going to be a subtitle for Mother 3 when it was on the N64
The unused "HAPPY END" sprite was going to be used for the games unused alternate ending which were influenced by the unused kindness stat which would have increased when doing good deeds throughout the game
I'm totally on board with the earthbound 3 thing. It would be extremely on-brand for the series. Also, over-analyzing the unused conversation with Locria, while I do agree Duster's outburst is out of character, it makes more sense for it to be him rather than Flint, considering that he had a very recent brush with amnesia himself. My interpretation, anyway, is that Duster feels that Locria is using their amnesia as an excuse to be complacent about the end of the world, as well as a way to evade the consequences of their actions as Fassad, and that as someone who still chose to do good and actively help the world after losing his memory, he's personally offended by that attitude. Idk if that makes any sense, that's just the vibe I picked up.

If there was a good ending… would that mean the final battle would be against the Dragon of darkness. Perhaps with Claus surviving the fatal blow? Delt in the semi-final battle? We can only gues but I want someone to make an animation for a battle against the dark dragon.
Honestly I think you can kind of read the cut Locria dialog as just putting on an act. Like all the "I'm behind you 100%" stuff and all the "wow i had noooo idea im so excited" stuff, can read as just playing up the attitudes of the other 6 you'd spoken with to that point; and then of course they've been attacking you this entire time as Fassad, and would likely ambush you later. Who knows maybe you could even return later and see basically the same mouse dialog as in the final game.

I’m 99.9% sure it’s Duster. Within the files of the game, dialogue isn’t stored with character names, but instead with placements on a map or in the party. The data for that cutscene indicated that it was the second party member (Kumatora) and the third party member (Duster) that were speaking. Since Alec and Wess have nothing to suggest they were in your party in chapter 8, it confirms even more that it’s Duster talking there.
Yeah it being Duster is really weird. I really feel like there's more to his reaction though, like I wonder if some lost context might've helped explain it, because the way he gets mad at Locria makes no sense, there must have been something about the original Locria that made him that angry

That’s just my view on it though, we’re still either way definitely missing context.

Well, if I’m being honest, it’s related to how the mindset that you really can legit consider the final gba game to be an ‘abridged’ version of the original ideas of the game, or rather, an abridged version of the n64 version. So much character depth and lore was cut, me saying that the characters originally had more complex traits that weren’t present in the final game was yet another realisation for me at just how much we lost in the final game.
