Authentic or Fake Neumann TLM 103? One Simple Thing to Look For!

This video was made shortly after me noticing the sheer amount of fake TLM 103's listed on both eBay and Reverb. I have messaged a lot of sellers about this but educating potential buyers seems like the best thing to do! I hope this video helps, it is tough seeing so many people get scammed thinking they got a good deal.

Thank you. Where did you find information about the change in the authentic PCB? I have one that looks like your middle example with the two wires going into black plastic and was worried it was fake.

I had one confirmed by Sennheiser/Neumann, you could likely find the right department and have them confirm it too. A few other people I know also have that newer PCB design, sorta like how the U87's have gone through changes

@@narrator-timothymckean Just an update as to the middle one in the video. Although, the picture appears to have two wires going into black plastic, the wires actually go to a green circuit board material and has a number 525681 on the top of it. Neumann has shared with me, and others online that that is a genuine TLM 103.

The one on the right at 2:05 has circuit board facing up towards the capsule and one has the circuit board facing down from the capsule but both say real. Are there two versions of that style?

The TLM 103 has had revisions to the PCB design over the years, the board facing upwards is the older design ^

Yes, fakes are everywhere no matter the brand so close inspection is a great idea
