I saw one question in regards to an interface . I STRONGLY suggest a good quality interface but even more so that one invests in the BEST MIC PRE YOU CAN AFFORD. I refer to the late great Al Schmitt who stumbled on to this by accident with George Benson on the Breezin LP . They hooked up a cheap microphone just to get signal until Al could grab his Neumann U47 Mic . They used an Electro voice 666 mic just because it was nearby and would later switch it out for a better one . Well guess what , George LOVED it and it wound up being used for I do believe 8 of the tracks for his lead vocal . Moral of the story ? NEVER underestimate a cheap mic and a great mic pre combo . !!!😊😊
Yeah I totally agree. Since I made this video I’ve spent more time with these 103s. I like them for dialog a lot and I didn’t mind them for drum overheads
@@nickiden nice I have a presonus eureka and I’ve got an Apollo twin on its way I’m sure with that mic I will have the sound I’m looking for, for a bargain. Thanks!!!
I haven’t. I think there’s a lot of really good options. I had a motu 828 in the past and really liked it. If you are looking for something 2 channel UA volt or the ssl 2+ worked great
I ordered the 47. They said they have a regular as well as a + model ( gold capsule ) . I’m now considering their 29+ model. Have you tried it ? Supposed to be a TF 29 clone. Btw is this a 47 or 47 + model?
@@nickiden Do you plan on doing a review for the GTZ-7 in the future? I’m really interested in how it compares to the REAL Shure MV7, I look forward in buying the GTZ-7.
Honestly they look and sound like those cheap Aliexpress/Temu mics. Not sure if he changed the internals but doesn't sound like it's changed that much. I got one of the Temu U87 clones for fun didn't think it'll arrive, but it eventually came and it sounds and looks very similar to what you have. Those mics seriously lacking some low end, but for under $50 on Temu, it's a very usable mic for video/conference calls.
Yeah, 103’s I used in the video don’t have much in the low end for sure. I’ve seen the Temu mics but haven’t tried them yet. The gtz47 was much better with capturing low end which is much pretty good :D
@@nickiden yea it'll be interesting to compare. I'm all for affordable mic options for consumers, but if it's just importing them from China and rebranding them. it is just a bit of a scam... however, if people like them and are willing to pay for them, who am I to judge.
@@jonathanlegaspi8288 good to know because in reality, and U87 and TLM103 are wildly different. I've used both real, new AND vintage Neumanns and that's appalling that they're selling both "clones" with the same circuit.
So there’s a story about that tilt. Years ago when I did the desk build I messed up the angle on one of my cuts. But I used that messed up angle on both monitor ends so both my Yamahas are tilted. I’m use to it now but it is an interesting discussion piece
Meh. There is a time and place for that word. There’s nothing wrong with affordable gear but sometimes when it’s obvious they cut corners to make it affordable it can feel cheap :D. Haha does that make sense? In my brain it does haha
How did you "accidentally" throw away that frequency response chart that you liked so much? Seems like thats something youd go out of your way to keep to show for the video. Just tell us they sponsored you or sent you the microphones for free. I can hardly trust your credibility.
Haha that’s harsh. Yeah it was a small slip that got mixed in with the packaging. I think if you’re interested in the chart it’s on their webpage. No I am not sponsored sorry

Well said :D
Your playing & singing is better than any mic in the world bro!
Thanks you so much :D this comment totally made my day
I bought gtz105. It’s not the same to Neumann thing, but still a great option. $150 well spent. Thank you for this review.

The 47 sounds so good in your recording. Very smooth. What was your chain from interface to mic on it because I’m pretty much sold on getting one.
Thanks :D. The chain was the mic into my isa pre into my interface :D very simple

I actually like the Go to toolz mic . I have the 47 , and a few others from him and I really enjoy them
Yeah i wouldn’t mind getting a pair of the 87s as well. I feel they could be very handy to have
What is a good audio interface for that microphone 107 or 103 on Windows? Is there any advantage over audio interface(s)? have you owned the MOTU MK5?

The 29 model looks pretty cool but I’ve. Ever tried one. Maybe for Christmas I’ll get one haha. The 47 in the video is just the regular one
@ 29+ was recommended by the GTZ man himself!
Which amp / processor are you using for your guitar to get that sweet tone pls?
I used a boss Katana on the clean channel with my LesPaul. I think the eq was all set to 12
@ Sounds great!
What do you think about a GTZ-7, I want a good dynamic mic. I assume its a Shure MV7 clone?!
I’m assuming so as well. They look really cool. However, I haven’t played with one yet
@@nickiden Do you plan on doing a review for the GTZ-7 in the future? I’m really interested in how it compares to the REAL Shure MV7, I look forward in buying the GTZ-7.
i would try to bought one of this but i would consider shipping fee lol
but tbh i'm shock it's worth it not like cheap crap copy that i bought on eBay
Yes. Shipping may be something to consider for sure.
So, the 47 is a Tube mic? or Fet? or neither?
The one I picked up is a FET. They do make a tubed one as well I believe.

real tlm 103 in aliexpress 250$ used mic i take is real
I know that the GTZ87 uses that same chinese circuit, as I have both and the components and board are the exact same.
