I love the fact that the Fallout universe is a harsh and hostile world, but when you are extremely dumb, even the bad guys try their best to be easy on you.
When i go to the brotherhood of steal in fallout 1 they literally call me ashole in the face but the enclave is good,thats why i love the enclave (Sorry i dont speak to much english)
I love the idea that a random idiot walked in from the wasteland and all the soldiers just thought he was a dumb new recruit and because he was too stupid to think otherwise he just goes with it and inadvertently joins the enclave.
in the og fallouts the enclave was just the us government trying to put america back together, and they are the antagonist since we see them from the perspective of someone that lived in one of several independent nations and settlements.

To be fair, the average Enclave soldier was just someone following the orders of some assholes. If the Enclave Remnants showed anything, it's that the lower rungs of the organization had nothing against the wastelanders and would have left them alone if they had a choice.

It's like what the ex-Enclave ship captain said in Fallout 2. He realized it wasn't America he was fighting for but the evil greedy old bastards who helped destroy it.

The way he says "You get hurt!" cements it.
The Enclave probably does have a lot of experience with the mentally handicapped, I mean it is literally a couple dozen families at most alone on an oil rig for at least two hundred years. They are all horrifically inbred at this point so mental illness probably isn't uncommon and would actually explain a lot about the Enclave.

They wrote most of the in-game dialogue multiple times over to account for different intelligence levels of your character. It's insane. These kind of details separate good games, from legendary masterpieces.
This is why I prefer the original 2. To write different dialogue that spans the whole game for someone with low intelligence means dedication to the power of 100. You could roleplay so much more effectively in these. I actually had a non-combatant diplomat once, and I can't count the amount of problems I solved with my tongue. Being like that is surely hard in the first two, but try doing that in 3 or New Vegas!

Maybe my FPS mindset just kicked in when I started playing the new-gen Fallouts and I wanted to make things explode as opposed to using my silver tongue. One thing I do insist on: Playing diplomatically felt more fun and impactful in Fallout 2 than in 3 and NV for me, probably because the dialogue is so much better (at least when comparing 2 and 3).
Knob head Granted, but I'm not calling 3 or NV mediocre, they're great games, but the choices that you make in the new ones do seem less impactful, quests feel more generic and dialogue isn't as imaginative either, when compared to Fallouts 1 and 2. I think New Vegas improved on 3 in those departments though.

yup, regardless of the old vs the new arguement we can all agree that good dialogue and general rpgness in fallout has basically gone away. games with good dialogue and RPG mechanics don't do very well in AAA games sadly which is why everything is being streamlined for easy playability. fallout 4 is an awesome first person shooter with exploration being the biggest pull for players but it freaking sucks at story and roleplaying.
In FO3 They made the enclave the fucking galactic empire, The actual soldiers and commanders in it lost all characters and are now just the mean bad guys.
The armorer is my favorite low intelligence interaction because he's totally sympathetic with the player. Its almost like the Enclave gives a shit about their people
It heavily affects your playthrough. People will treat you differently, all of your dialogue options will be grunts and broken English, and you won't be able to do certain quests because people will think you're too stupid to handle them.

When fighting Frank with low INT there are a number of factors, your level, perks, skills and Special. There are many weapons that work well against him, but the weapon alone isn't everything. I for the most part stick to small guns or unarmed. Gauss Rifle, Sniper Rifle and the Red Ryder BB gun great small guns.
The first time I've played both Fallout 1 and 2 was in 2019. Not tainted by nostalgia, yet I've enjoyed both of these games much more than the newer ones. Hell, I probably enjoyed them more than New Vegas. And I don't think I've ever played a turn based RPG before, I was always an FPS player. Shows how Interplay/Obsidian know how to make a good game.
I wish there were richer speech options like this in Fallout 4 (I'm commenting from the future). Being clever and eloquent with a high intelligence character always filled me with pride

Try playing Arcanum as a Super Model. Never increase your intelligence or learn any magic or technology. Max out charisma, beauty, persuasion, and all the melee combat stuff. The dialogue options are hilarious! You're dumb as a post, but everybody loves you. If for some reason they don't, you're a melee beat-stick, too.
Interplay could have gone out of their way to make the Enclave completely degenerate and intolerable. Instead they basically humanized them at every chance they had so well, even whit their insane plan everyone loves them.

***** The G.O.A.T. was pretty hilarious. And Fallout 1 wasn't all that funny either, sure it had it's moments but F2 blows it out of the water in terms of comedy. F3 shares much more in common with the first game than the second.

F1 - dark with very very little humor.
F2 - pure hilarity ( ironically the best of them all )
F3- meh, sterile, actually WORST than F1 because F1 was at least original.
F:NV - comedy is back...although not to F2's epic level.

A lot of humor in F2 is stupid, but sometimes humor is great, for example when your low.int character talks with Torr it is very funny, but when you blow up the toilet it is just stupid

Agreed. F1 laid down the canon which - in my opinion - was often thrown out the window by the cheesy random encounters referencing different movies.

When fighting Frank with low INT there are a number of factors, your level, perks, skills and Special. There are many weapons that work well against him, but the weapon alone isn't everything. I for the most part stick to small guns or unarmed. Gauss Rifle, Sniper Rifle and the Red Ryder BB gun great small guns.
the second guy is I think the nicest and most sympathetic guy in any of the fallout games
The first time I've played both Fallout 1 and 2 was in 2019. Not tainted by nostalgia, yet I've enjoyed both of these games much more than the newer ones. Hell, I probably enjoyed them more than New Vegas. And I don't think I've ever played a turn based RPG before, I was always an FPS player. Shows how Interplay/Obsidian know how to make a good game.
I still find it funny that you can borderline tell them you don't belong there and they think you're a private trying to get out of trouble

these dialogues are way ahead of its time.
Try playing Arcanum as a Super Model. Never increase your intelligence or learn any magic or technology. Max out charisma, beauty, persuasion, and all the melee combat stuff. The dialogue options are hilarious! You're dumb as a post, but everybody loves you. If for some reason they don't, you're a melee beat-stick, too.

Interplay could have gone out of their way to make the Enclave completely degenerate and intolerable.
Instead they basically humanized them at every chance they had so well, even whit their insane plan everyone loves them.
