I remember the first time I played this over a decade ago. It was the first time I ever encountered the Enclave, I had no idea who they were and when I encountered this guy I was thinking "who the fuck is this?" I saw he had the same armour as the dude in the intro, which scared me a little, then he got pissed of and said he would send an assault squad and I nearly pissed myself. Imagine my surprise when nobody came to moider me.

It's funny that a communication officier, inside a highly securised enclave facility, has to wear a power armor. They really had a strict dressing code in the enclave.
All except scientist,clerks,and mechanics since they need hands to do the work. But I'm really curious as to why the janitors need to wear power armor.
In fairness, if you’re always wearing it, then you can’t lose it, which means you won’t have a piece of high value equipment coming out of your pay and have to work 510+ years to pay back the army for the Mark 2 Power Armor you’d have lost.

In 2 there were only like 10 animated heads and they are four times as sparse because the game is so much bigger. One Enclave model is used for like four characters.

I'm a month late, but have you heard of the Fallout 2 Restoration Project? It's a mod that adds all of the cut content into the game, including a vertibird encounter after this conversation.
Fun fact, this guy is voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson who you may also know as Tartarus from Halo 2 or a myriad of other roles he's had in video games and animation. One of his more recent appearances was as the Mauler twins in Invincible. Absolute madlad.

*Fallout 2*: Very interesting, unique dialogue, just not very much of it is voiced. *Fallout 4*: ALOT of dialouge. Hardly any of it is interesting. When weighing out my options, I pick quality over quantity any day.
I love how in a title with ghost impersonators, Brotherhood knights of the round table, a ghoul with a tree growing out of his head, a super mutant secret service member, *and talking deathclaws,* the best character is that guy you basically prank call one time like 5 hours into the game.
I love the mummy. It's an attraction in Den. If you have the ghoul companion he recognizes his pal and that makes a run for it! XD Side content is always the best and everything related to ghouls (like this reactor scene) is top tier funny.

The fact that he dispatches a squad of heavily armed soldiers to kill you because you trolled him is why this is one of the greatest games of all time. Even that better in the base game, there is no "verti assault team."
If you have the Restoration project installed, you do get a visit from a vertibird full of Enclave boyz (spec encounter), something like 3-4 standard patrols (akin to those found near Navarro), whom you can shoot up (challenging, unless you have some 300 hp health pool and they roll no crits) or persuade them that whoever called them got away.
Oh man this guy is amazing. I love how because they are relying on pre-war equipment you can just log right in from a piece of pre-war equipment on the same network. His reactions are so perfect!
I remember after this call I took my trusty Bozar and went outside, waiting for verti-team. They never showed up. Cowards. Ahhhhh, the good old times...

The entire exchange was basically you bullying some kid online, then the kid threatens to hack you. You laugh, only to realize he ACTUALLY has the means to do so. XD
Is it just me or does the enclave helmet look like a hornet. Kinda makes sense considering the opening scene we see them in they're going to a vault and emptying it out like a hornet attacking a bee hive

There is a mod that makes your character silent. And another mod that makes the conversations more like the previous games (with various options) instead of a Mass Effect style system (unless you want to keep it, in which case, it improves on it by adding the full lines rather than just a summary).
This guy really speaks to me. It's 4:00 AM, he's routing what few calls come through at this ungodly hour, his superiors make him wear a full suit of power armor despite working a desk job, Sergeant Dornan screams his head off if he so much as forgets to tie his shoes, he's living on 5 hours of sleep and whatever cold coffee is left by the time he gets to it, and then out of the blue some dickhead prank-calls him and pretends not to know who the president is. I'd be mad too.
It's so fucking hilarious to me how genuinely confused he is when you say "president of the united states?" Like he's just dumbfounded by how ridiculous that question was.
It's weird how the older games were so much better at making you know you pissed someone off with your dialogue. The demeanor change looks so much more immersive than the way they do in the new ones. Oh, and Bethesda needs new writers.

*Fallout 4*: ALOT of dialouge. Hardly any of it is interesting.
When weighing out my options, I pick quality over quantity any day.
you wouldn't believe how much it adds to the atmosphere with a properly voice-acted character vs. a wall of text
voice acting is very important for these sorts of games, not the most important but you shouldn't just cast it aside.
Even when going through text only dialogue in Fallout 1 and 2, a lot of the interactions you have are interesting and fucking hilarious.
If you keep subtitles on then you shouldn't be playing RPG's.
the combat in FO4 is the best so far in a Fallout game, and I love the base building
I love how in a title with ghost impersonators, Brotherhood knights of the round table, a ghoul with a tree growing out of his head, a super mutant secret service member, *and talking deathclaws,* the best character is that guy you basically prank call one time like 5 hours into the game.
Talking deathclaws were pretty neat.

I love the mummy. It's an attraction in Den. If you have the ghoul companion he recognizes his pal and that makes a run for it! XD Side content is always the best and everything related to ghouls (like this reactor scene) is top tier funny.

If you have the Restoration project installed, you do get a visit from a vertibird full of Enclave boyz (spec encounter), something like 3-4 standard patrols (akin to those found near Navarro), whom you can shoot up (challenging, unless you have some 300 hp health pool and they roll no crits) or persuade them that whoever called them got away.

@@tonycampbell1424 there isn't much story telling in FO2. There are a couple sweet spots, but that's it. Have you actually played it? Its mostly slow grindy fights through dull zones. The rat dungeon is an excellent example of this.

I'm ok with silent characters, That way an asian character wont sound like a thick-american accented man.
There is a mod that makes your character silent. And another mod that makes the conversations more like the previous games (with various options) instead of a Mass Effect style system (unless you want to keep it, in which case, it improves on it by adding the full lines rather than just a summary).

It's 4:00 AM, he's routing what few calls come through at this ungodly hour, his superiors make him wear a full suit of power armor despite working a desk job, Sergeant Dornan screams his head off if he so much as forgets to tie his shoes, he's living on 5 hours of sleep and whatever cold coffee is left by the time he gets to it, and then out of the blue some dickhead prank-calls him and pretends not to know who the president is. I'd be mad too.

It's weird how the older games were so much better at making you know you pissed someone off with your dialogue. The demeanor change looks so much more immersive than the way they do in the new ones. Oh, and Bethesda needs new writers.
Bethesda definitely needs new writers. Love the gunplay and exploration but the writing is almost always subpar save for a handful of sidequests.
All like 12 characters with talking heads change demeanor. Everyone else is text boxes.
