I've always thought that it's sometimes too easy with these games. Like, the option that requires a skill check is always the better option, you don't even need to read beyond seeing the skill check marker to know it's the best option for you. I'd love it if, just once or twice, Bethsoft gave us a skill check that was objectively worse than otherwise, just to trip us up - like a high-int option where the character wildly overthinks the problem and leads the NPC and themselves to the wrong conclusion.
One theory that I subscribe to for this is that it takes that high of an intelligence for the player to realise that the think tank isn't as smart as they appear, and as such the painfully obvious solution is one that they haven't thought of. The INT isn't for you to come up with the idea, it's to realise that they didn't.

I think because of this interaction I started “slashing” my zeros to differentiate between the letter and number, especially for Zip/Postal codes. Time and dates are pretty straightforward, it’s when you start mixing letters in there people, more often than not, get confused attempting to read it.
Wait till you guys know about the number 3 and the letter Z/З in Cyrillic lol. Although it can be differentiated by context, its still common to mistake them
I do this too, usually when in a letter-number mix like a code or serial number. I do have a job now where I write a _lot_ of numbers, though, so I rarely bother to do it if there's no reason for an letter to be on something with numbers on it. Situational, I guess.
It doesn’t help when you’re typing on a computer though. 0O most people could probably recognize the difference, but when you type something like 2O24 it could get confusing if you’re reading it fast
I was really late in the game when I did OWB for the first time and my brain was so accustomed to characters giving big monologues after skill checks, when 0 said “what” I just burst out laughing and couldn’t stop
i was more impressed with OWB than i was with Honest Hearts. Joshua is a badass but the rest of the characters in Honest hearts were kinda just "ok" to me. loved the setting as well when i first played it when the DLC originally released on the Xbox 360 back in the day and was amazed they could get Zion looking that good with the technical limitations of the time (yes, i am old lol) but the sheer amount of content, characters, weapons/armor, side-stories, and environments in OWB were just fantastic in comparison! they also give you an awesome player-home you can literally teleport to from anywhere when you complete the main DLC story. thats why i rank OWB as my favorite of the New Vegas DLC's!
i love how the courier requires 9 intelligence to propose putting a slash trough the zero to differentiate it from the o, it implies doing that is smarter than literally finding the code to override robco´s robot guards orders

If you want to be real fancy you can put a dot inside the Zero. Like how some stylelized digital fonts do. Though the slash is easy, I say the dot makes it pop out more.

I love that it takes an INT of 7 to figure out which of the two circular, single digits in the modern English alphanumeric system. When specified it's a number that looks a lot like an O. And that it takes an actual Mensa candidate to say "put a slash through it".
Considering that most people don't have any education in the wasteland beside what they've learned on the road, I guess we can say it could be very surprising to know such things. Many raiders, kids, civilians, etc. can't even read
Zero, you could’ve argued back that a slash through the glyph would’ve confused people more because it looks like ø, which denotes the empty set (or just the Nordic letter), but there’s an argument to be made that the empty set is an analogue to zero
I like that the DLC about science and technology has a fair amount of INT based checks in dialogue to show off your characters smarts. Like, at first you're seen by the Think Tank as just another stupid wastelander who can't tie their own shoes, then you come in with your big brain and tell Doctor O "You know 0's and O's kinda look the same right?" and he's like "Uhhh... What?"

Just finished Old World Blues, didn’t think highly of the DLC before. I was more excited to play Joshuas DLC, but this one pleasantly surprised me.
OWB is easily the best dlc of new vegas
The characters and quests are, the endlessly respawning bullet sponge enemies aren't.
i was more impressed with OWB than i was with Honest Hearts. as I had put more points in Intelligence I was able to get this dialog as well as more with high Charisma & Perception
