- Last stand! The Terminators are close to eliminating the Genestealers on board the space hulk but, sensing the threat, waves of the vicious creatures are descending on their position! What a great ending. I honestly thought the stealers weren't going to get close at all, the terminators firing lines were on point. But a few jams here and there and it all changed. Great game, thanks for sharing as always and I'm looking forward to Deathwing.

It’s lightning in a bottle sessions like this that I’ve always hoped to capture on camera, one of those legendary games that you reminisce about every now and then…remember that one that played out like that? (I’m trying to remain vague to avoid spoilers!) For me, it’s games like this that are why I can’t stop rolling dice!

I probably prefer the games where the Marines are on the offensive because they are more interesting from a tactical perspective, but I can’t argue with the drama of how this one played out! Love space hulk! Have purchased incomplete copies of 1st edition, deathwing, Genestealers, and Tyranid attack. I have slowly built up all 4 games over the last 10 years (no plastic in any game). I have over 50 terminators now and play monster games with my friend taking up an entire weekend. What are you going to do next? Space hulk campaign book?
@@jeromyfisher297 That sounds amazing and, with the atmosphere processor in Aliens in mind, we used to do something similar, placing the Advanced Space Crusade / Tyranid Attack tiles at the centre and linking Space Hulk tiles as corridors approaching the hive! 50 Terminators is an incredible collection, which chapter(s) did you paint them as?
The next series will see us playing through all of the Deathwing missions, but it will be some months before you’ll see that series arrive on the channel because there is a lot of dice rolling and editing to be done first! As for the campaign book, all episodes of the Last Stand campaign can be found in our Space Hulk playlist! I should warn that while the format is very close to that which you’ve seen here, it doesn’t quite have all the bells and whistles that this series did. We do plan on playing through and filming all of those, but all of that will take us years to do. Rest assured, we *are* in this for the long haul and will not rest until we have episodes covering every 1st Edition mission released!

@@LifeofDie I have a fourth edition Ultramarine army as my core when I started collecting space hulk pieces so I stayed with the blue Smurfs. That way I had the scouts and tactical squads already painted that I needed to fill out the tyranid attack game. Still looking for a grenade launcher power fist for my captain.

Watching these always highlights the difference between some of the editions. The variation is minor but it makes me question if I’ve been playing something incorrectly so I have to revisit each of the rule books. This is by no means a criticism of the gameplay as you guys played true to the first edition whereas I would have erroneously played by the 3rd/4th edition, mixed with 1st and 2nd. Even if this indicates that one can have too much Space Hulk, you know I couldn’t agree with that.😂

@@kevinstricklen7579 I have played a bit of 4th Edition as well and did enjoy it, but 1st Edition is the version that we have the most experience with. Also, it’s because we plan to shoot every mission for 1st Edition (including those that use the Genestealer psychic rules) that we decided to stick with 1st Edition rules. I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all that players can play whichever version they wish or perhaps cherry pick the best elements of all versions to come up with a hybrid (pun intended) house rule version! Whatever you find best fun is always a terrific way to approach gaming!
Thank you again for being so instrumental in providing such invaluable feedback when I was giving you a preview of the reports back at the start of the year. It was hugely instrumental in helping us shape and refine the format m and, as the next series will see us recording with mics, hopefully future reports will be slightly improved again for the Deathwing series! Thank you for this video, and for the entire series, it has been really great. There was an earlier win for the Marines that I thought wasn't possible and have never achieved (Rescue), and some of the best manoeuvring ever from the Marines in another one (Cleanse and Burn). The final turns of this one were so good, going right down to the wire, it was tremendous. I had to look it up, and it turns out that the chances of getting one or more sixes with three D6 is 42.1% (which surprised me a bit). Congratulations on the whole thing, really looking forward to the Deathwing missions now. My own view (and experience with them) is that the Deathwing missions are quite hard for the Marines, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
@@phildevey6302 Thanks so much for this and I love your review! As someone who likes stats and probability, the 6’s fact is a great one to know! I agree that I’m surprised it’s as low but still pleasingly high enough that it didn’t seem completely unlikely that my Stealers could succeed.
Rescue is one where I really have to acknowledge the involvement and contributions of the Space Hulk community on Facebook because, as mentioned in that episode, we knew that one was as tough as nails and asked for advice!
So far as this mission coming to literally the last roll of the dice, it was incredible that it played out that way, particularly because it was the series finale! I hope you can hear how we were amazed by this as well and that there was no fudging to have it resolve this way. Obviously these are heavily edited so that they are tight and there’s no dead air for viewers, but they are true representations of how it all went down!
Yeah, I’m curious to see how I get on in Deathwing as well as I have similar memories of it (I’m taking the Marines this time). Worst case scenario is that if it’s a total disaster and I lose the campaign before we get to the last episode, then we’ll play it out as one shots. Hopefully not, but time will tell!

The ending to this one (Defend) was tremendous, it rounded off things perfectly, and you did get two chances to win it at 42% each time. I always thought it was natural, and had just happened like that.
I'm going to go back to Rescue, and take some hints from your playthrough, maybe it will go a bit better this time.
Looking forward to more hints for the Deathwing missions, and to seeing your very nice collection of terminators (I've seen the video of them, they look great). In my own games I use a complete mixture of things - 1st Edition rules (of course), 2nd Edition board sections (normally), 3rd Edition accessories (doors, flamer blips etc), and terminators from all over the place (1st Ed, 2nd Ed, plastic, metal, all sorts). I'll be watching the Deathwing ones whenever they come out, that's for sure!
@@phildevey6302 Thank you! Yes, my friend Simon did an amazing job with painting our collection! Before this series started, we did chat about whether to use the Deathwing minis from the get go, but as Simon had revived our plastic minis (they were originally painted in thick Humbro glossy paint back in the day) and we really wanted to be faithful to those first 6 missions which the box art and in the rules were intended for the Blood Angels, we had to go with those! Along with the fact that we are now mic’d up and will have even nicer minis, hopefully the Deathwing series will be taking things up another notch!
