    It would make up for a lot of the shortcomings that my A6600 has, then I'd still have a use for my lens collection for Sony APSC. It's incredibly tempting.

    Looks like great competition to the XH2s, just without 6k open gate or ProRes internal. Assume the autofocus is much better though.

      I haven’t directly compared them. But from what I have seen the Fuji likely has better image quality. It’s stacked sensor is remarkable. Plus the features you mentioned like ProRes and 6K.
      However FX30 definitely has better AF performance and has an excellent design for video work.

    what I need is advice here, I have stared a channel here and I am looking for Sony fx30 or the a6700
    why I personally want to go for FX30 is that I will get cinema line camera, video quality will be awesome for viewers, can record in log, full size hdmi if I want to make a rig of it, and its professional.
    a6700 if I go for, it comes with a lens (but can I use that lens for my TH-cam videos?) it has the same sensor as FX30
    dealbreaker: mini Hdmi port, one card slot, over heating issues. fx30 here is more reliable. and I want my videos to come out like movies after color grading them. thats all.

    • @marinrealestatephotography
      @marinrealestatephotography 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While I would agree with you (since I own an S1 and an S5), I just don't think that is the way the market is headed. More and more video is being made by "content creators" and for them, autofocus is a key feature. If Panasonic was able to put GREAT auto focus in the S5 and sell it at the same ridiculously low price they sell it now (it is like $1800 or something with the 20-60mm kit lens included, or something like that), then people wouldn't even think of getting an FX 30.

      @@EmeraldAudiovisual Do they have time though. It took 5+ years to develop 1 sensor for the GH6. And it's not even good for stills so they can't use it in the G9mk2/G10 whatever it is. Now imagine if, given that they have finally accepted public opinion, scrapped all existing development for the S1Hii to rebuild a new sensor, it'll be almost 3-5 years at least before we see a S1Hii with PDAF.

      Remember - an APS-C sensor does not denote "entry level" - it's the same "super 35" size that all major motion pictures have used for decades. Even the $50,000 Alexa digital cameras are ASPS-C size sensors. I've shot two features on an A6500 ASP-C camera and won 8 awards doing it. This FX30 is a perfect camera for any filmmaker making features, not just for budding ones.

    The FX3 is a much better camera than the FX30 in every aspect.
    Has higher dynamic range, much better low light performance, signal to noise ratio, much better rolling shutter, allows shallower depth of field, among other features.
    The sensor size makes all the difference.

      Shallow DoF can be bad for things like narratives. You'll end up having to stop down just to get more things in focus, and spend more money on far more powerful lights to compensate. Majority of films have been shot on t2.9-ish on S35 at max which brings it close to T4 ff. Shooting scenes at 1.4 all the time defeats the purpose of picking locations and set dressing, might as well green screen the background.

      For one who has to carry their camera long and far, the FX3 loses out on weight. Especially considering the lenses. The FX30 can also read clock sync, which can be a major time saver in multicam situations.

      Well... fx-30 would be smaller and lighter, and generally aps-c lenses are less expensive. However, I think that for STILLS photos, the a7 IV might be advantageous (I don't think the FX 30 has bracketing for stills, for example). Plus you MIGHT prefer the ergonomics of the a7 IV more. And on really bright day you MIGHT want to use the EVF of the a7 IV. (My a6500, a6300, a6000 and a5100 all have really shiny LCD screens that make it hard to use in bright daylight.) And some people LOVE the ultra-shallow depth of field look, but I think that for doing beekeeping videos, you probably DON'T want super shallow depth of field. Sony certainly has packed a lot in to the FX30. Guess we will have to wait for the next episode or two to find out the image quality holds up at high ISO.

      Make improving the sound (spoken word) of your videos your priority. It sounds terrible. 'Rode VideoMicro' (or similar) won't break the bank. Seeing as you film indoors often, a couple of cheap video lamps/soft boxes would go a long way. And lastly, get a couple of fast, low aperture lenses (Ebay's your friend). Sony's own 35mm f1.8 is affordable. Go from there. This will help you step-up your game more than a new camera will (and for far less $$$). Just sayin'.. ;)

      I don't think the FX3 is at the end of its product cycle at all. Its still a fantastic camera which sits well against the rest of the market.
      I don't think technology has moved on enough yet for Sony to make a better version of it just yet. And as a professional tool you don't want your cameras replaced too frequently as it de-values them.

    Hi! I do vlogs and creative 10-min short films for web, is this camera for me? Or it's too much for my needs? I've been using phones and action cameras if not borrowing my friend's a6000. I have two FX3s and need a third to record a podcast with a three camera setup. If the FX3 and FX30 are set to iso 800 and F4 will they cut together well? Or is this more a case of shoot with the FX3 and then adjust lighting conditions for the FX30 to match. Hope this makes sense.

    • @marinrealestatephotography
      @marinrealestatephotography 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The EXPOSURE would be the same. But the depth of field would be different, meaning the full-frame FX 3 would have a shallower depth of field. You could MATCH the depth of field by shooting at f/2.8 on the FX30 and at f/4 on the FX3. But then you would be shooting one stop brighter on the FX30, unless you either drop the ISO to ISO 400, or INCREASE the shutter speed one stop, or put a one-stop neutral density filter on the FX30.

Just know and overcome the negatives and you can make super outstanding videos. Just look at the lenses available by Sony and many 3rd party companies. No one should complain about that sensor, but let their imagination run wild.
    What I find the winning formula is that it is not only a great machine for making videos, but it can also take outstanding stills, all in a tiny package.
