This was included on a recent Namco collection. I liked how atmospheric and tense it was, but there's a severe difficulty cliff once the enemies use range attacks, plus the password doesn't save all the accumulated arrows, making it almost useless
I never thought of this connection before but now I can't unsee it. It's exactly like Advanced Dungeons & Dragons for the Intellivision. Like, all the pieces make so much more sense if you think of it as an attempt to make a fancy Famicom version of that game.
@@destroyedforcomfort Yes... The Intellivision was actually released in Japan by Bandai, but this specific game as far as I know wasn't. But yes it's very similar
I agree that this game had potential but just isn't fun to play. I feel like they developed it just enough so it would look good in screenshots, because that would sell copies back then.
Your projectiles bounce and can also damage you is an...interesting design choice, for sure.

I've read it plays like a graphical version of "Hunt the Wumpus".
Very similar to "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" for the Intellivision

I was immediately struck by the similarities to that game. Too bad the dungeons aren't randomized.
@@doctorx0079 I thought they were, except for the boss ones
@@dqroto8681 I think the video said they were not. Unlike the original.
I thought it was an interesting idea, but yeah I could probably just go back to gauntlet.

That and rushing to get there last games out before giving Nintendo the finger
