- Hi Star Was collectors, check out the comparison between the two Vintage Collection Darth Mauls. VC86 and the new Clone Wars Darth Maul VC201.
In my original review I had some comments that people would have liked to see me compare them. Plus various requests to see if the new head fitted on to the Phantom Menace body! So does it? Check it out to find out.

Yep, that new Clone Wars Maul is the better of the two. To me, Maul during the last season of The Clone Wars that came out last year, is my all time favorite Maul performances, trumping his appearances in The Phantom Menace, Rebels, and even his earlier appearances in The Clone Wars during the siege of Mandalor storyline. So this most recent TVC release is the definitive version of Maul in my opinion. Great comparison!
Gotta say that Phantom Menace wave wasn't the Vintage Collection's finest hour when it came to Obi Wan, Qui Gon, and Darths Sidious and Maul...
The irony is that TPM head looks more animated than the new figure when you do the side by side comparison. I foresee a lot of head swapping coming up!!!
My VC86 came with the belt backwards but still one of my favorites from the VC line. That introduction of the character translated to figure form.
A lot of them did, but it can be fixed by twisting the belt around! Assuming you’re an opener, of course. Nothing can be done for the carded ones haha

The fact that [the Phantom Menace] Maul’s face looks much better than recent figures is gold to me, even with the looking-down neck he has.

I actually really like the vintage phantom menace figure of Darth maul, always one of my favorites along with Darth sidious from that wave, I think both look great, either way a win for me
Thanks for this video Tim! You answered something I was wondering about with that head swap and it looks great! I did the same thing with my Black Series Maul figure and it looks so much better with a modern head sculpt too.

Just as Hasbro updated the Boba Fett sculpt, would be nifty to see them do the same for TVC Phantom Menace Darth Maul similar to Clone Wars Maul (fantastic figure)

Such an amazing new sculpture! Good job Bossk you should definitely get some more comparisons videos down the line. Maybe storm troopers clone troopers etc old new sculptures. Lol would love to see death Maul head on a stormtroopers body. Why not have some fun :)

There's another Maul that I like apart than the new clone wars version, which is the Maul from the Sith Evolution pack. Fantastic figure.
Yes I agree,I remember getting the pack many years ago, and I automatically generated towards the Darth maul figure.
100% possible TVC will redo the TPM Darth Maul with that new head scalp would be awesome too see awesome review also if VC team redo the TPM Darth Maul I hope the lightsaber is thinner without that aggressive effect.
This is proof that the sculpt matters. No Matter how much digital face printing they use, a bad sculpt will ruin everything.
Heads a little on the small side for the phantom menace body. Clone wars version is streets ahead. Its night and day. Shows how hasbro has improved though. Now if i could just get my updated photo tech darth malgus, and a rerelease of grievous, both in tvc, i would be a very happy bunny.

The difference in quality in the head sculpts is amazing.....the Clone Wars version is Ray Park. I will be definitely getting another Clone Wars version and swapping heads for sure.
New Maul is awesome! Glad I pre-ordered it. Hope the make an Obi Wan from Rebels as well so you can recreate their epic final duel.
I hope they make more clone wars figure for the vc and black series that would be cool. Also a phase 1 Rex and Cody for vc
When it comes to Rex, all I want is a stand-alone release of his Bad Batch figure from the 4 pack so I can actually buy it.
I hope they make savage that would be awesome with the new cw vc figure. Also i don’t think they will release that Rex from the bad batch separately but I heard that Amazon should be restocking by Christmas
@@spystudios1363 the 3 ARC troopers got individual releases despite their initial exclusivity in the 3 pack, so I can only hope. I will be looking out for that re-release, but the first batch sold out completely in 3 minutes with no protection from scalpers, which was just unacceptable, so I’m not optimistic.
They managed to fix those terrible horns on the Episode I version.

All he’d need is the recent “Maul comic book” torso, the Target Clone Wars Anakin arms, a previous Jedi figure’s overlay tunic… and maybe borrow some Iron Man legs from the Legends line.

Cool comparison, but the new head on the old body looks just a little bit too tiny. Even though the new head is obviously terrific.
There was a 3 pack final duel back in 2012/3. The maul figure had a great head on it.

Hay bossk here’s a good video comparison idea for you try the imperial tie pilot I think the ROTJ the revenge, the remake version, and the tie vehicle figure bagged one are all different paint applications try comparing them all ?would love to see that
Yeah the Legacy one is different too. When i reviewed the reissue I got into a right old muddle with which was which.

Oddly enough, One half of Clone Wars Mauls Double Bladed Lightsaber is his original from the Phantom Menace, while the second half is one of Asajj Ventress’ Canon Yellow Lightsabers

HOW are people confused about the gun metal gray lightsaber?? Its clearly the half of his lightsaber he's had for the years he was crazy after obiwan cut it in half.
I assume they "weathered" it to show its age.
