Bingo. Great Mosport car, but it's not ideally suited to TMP while the Elantra and it's magical e-diff work wonders around this tight, technical little circuit.
It's nice and all but does it beat the reliability of a Honda or Toyota? Does it start to break down at 50k miles? Nowadays people focus too much on HP and the 0-60 mph but often lack reliability and endurance in return.

This car is in no way faster than a CTR. I think the EN is a great car and I’m super glad it exists. It’s great for the community and healthy competition. But it’s not faster around a track when driven properly. I hope people don’t think that after watching this.
Need wagon version ASAP! I'm considering swapping pads for my first track day and keeping the OEM for dedicated street use. I find at about 160km/hr, it doesn't scrub down the speed as quickly as my old 2700lb Civic (perhaps engine braking from high revving NA engine is reason vs ultimate braking power...)
That was Mark in the C7 at full tilt. DCT would most likely improve this lap time, even more impressive.
Love these track test videos. More please!
LMAO at the jab to Mark 🤣🤣🤣, maybe he is getting way to comfy in his high end cars or his body was way too beat up by his Ariel Atom
I have an Elantra N and Mark is 100% wrong on the ride quality. Yes it's firmer than a typical car but that's not saying much, it perfectly acceptable as a comfortable ride especially in a car that has this level of performance.

Nice! I've been really excited about everything Hyundai has been releasing lately. They are really coming in strong lately.
I own a '12 Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec. Bought it brand new a decade ago and I've only had ONE semi-serious issue in all these years. I really hope they're working on a modern sports coupe. I'd buy it in a second based on my experience with my '12 Genesis. The sedans look/perform nice (G70) but I'm just not a sedan guy.
Nice to see some track content again!
Only by racing this car up against the Type R at the Nuerburgring will the title of the video be able to convince me.
Exactly, I've seen numerous videos of the Honda civic type R spanking the turbo Hyundai Elantra. There ain't no way, a Hyundai is beating Honda the race pedigree Honda has.
This guy is not the be-all-end-all. Take him with a grain of salt. There will be plenty of track comparisons in the future.
True, the Type R already destroyed the Veloster N at the track, and I'd be shocked if the Elantra did much better.
Type R > Type N Hahaha
You realize Hyundai has headquarters right next to the Nurburgring
I feel bad for him. He was only getting about 15psi which he should be getting about 18-20psi at peak. He missed out on so much more
Track content is what made me love SP I wish we got more
How did I not kno about this second channel🤦♂️
Not doubting the results but Autocars Steve Sutcliffe tested the lighter UK I30N 280 DCT against the Type R and it was a second down a lap on a short test track. The Elantra must be set up differently as he stated the E-diff on the hatch was good but not great. Hats off though the Elantra seems a sorted car from factory.
AND THATS WHY I LOVE IT EVERYTIME AN ELANTRA N PULLS UP TO ME IN MY TYPE R AND THEY ALWAYS GET THAT SURPRISED LOOK ON THEIR FACE WHEN RACING ME LOL. I JUST LOVE IT WHENEVER THEY PULLED UP TO ME AND TRIES TO RACE. I NEVER BACK DOWN SO I GIVE IT. STOCK FOR STOCK THEY GET NO CHANCE. IM ALWAYS WILLING TO GO TOP END SPEED WHENEVER I RACE, COZ TYPE R TECHNICALLY GO ALL THE WAY UP TO 182 MPH STOCK !!!, THERES SOME VIDEO PROOFS OF THAT HERE IN YT. I USUALLY PASS ELANTRA N AROUND 80 TO 100 MPH WHENEVER THEY RACE ME. THEY MUST'VE FORGOTTEN THAT TYPE R HAS ALREADY A PROVEN TRACK RECORD IN NURBUGRING WHILE ELANTRA N DOESN'T LOL, AND THAT RECORD ALONE SAYS A LOT. TYPE R CAME OUT REALLY FAST ALSO IN SUZUKA CIRCUIT. 100% crazy
and here I thought the type R was the car to beat. I love competition because this just means honda is going back to the drawing board. Without a competitor, Honda wouldn't do anything. Hopefully they got an answer
It's not accurate though. Type R has been faster in official pro track times and amateur races as well. No serious car reviewer would say the Elantra N is a faster track car.
@@dknight25 the fact that the Elantra N is being mentioned in the same conversation as the Type R is why people are shocked. Beyond this video. @@SuperSmoovy The car is mentioned because it is in the same category and Hyundai has publicly stated it competes with the Type R. And there is nothing wrong with that because the Elantra N has brought good performance in this segment and competiton is always welcome.
I am simply referring to the idea of a few stating that the EN offers overall higher performance and a superior track car. You can like the car more, but to say that is just not being honest to oneself. Honda set the bar for FWD cars with the FK8 and it is currently the benchmark to beat for competitors. One can only assume the FL5 has improved on the engineering formula to further establish themselves in the FWD segment this generation.

lol, in my experience at the track FK8's walk all over Veloster's and Elantra N's. They can't hang with the FK8's or MK5's at the track.
I think on a more power oriented track with more open, flowing corners the FK8 would be too fast for the Elantra N, but at this tight and technical track the e-diff and the stickier/wider tires on the Elantra N are a big advantage of the FK8's Ive tried (I've tested 3 stock FK8R's at this circuit as well as a few modified ones so have a pretty good idea how they work at this circuit).

Yes, when actual journalists who literally spend their lives drive it. That doesn't mean a normal person that doesn't have thousands of hours on track will be able to match. And tires matter too. If the N is on Pilot 4 S's and the civic was on something less, that can make a huge difference too.
