yes unfortunately its about the only way to get to these...ive had bikes like that ion the past as well..removing full exhaust just to change the oil filter lol its a lot to pack in on a small frame I guess. Thank you for checking out the video and the comment! Much appreciated!

Excellent video. If using platinum or iridium plugs, be careful not to damage them while gapping, especially with the disc style gauge. It’s always tempting to open them up by sliding the took between the firing tip and electrode, which isn’t good for them.
Thank you Doc...unfortunately the tri glides are a supplement and I really only get those if I get that bike in here. Which is rare. So I only download those on case by case and I dont have that one. Sorry Doc.

When changing your plugs on a M8 always check the deep plug wells on the right side for debris, small rocks or sand ect. Particularly on the front right. Probably have to use a flashlight to view the bottom of the well after removing the spark plug wire to ensure you have no pebbles or sand. If a small pebble falls in your cylinder head your motor will be toast. I use an air blower and a vacuum to throughly clean the well before removing the plug. The last time I changed my plugs I found two small rocks in the right front plug well. Fortunately I preformed this simple check and probably saved myself from a whole lot of misery.
Brilliant thanks - just doing some of my own upgrades on my 23 breakout as dealer a long way away but super under confident 😂 I don’t suppose there is a download somewhere for a service manual? Thanks again for some great videos

Are there different size wires like 7mm & 8 or 9mm? Also what do you think about spraying water on the wires to check for a bad one. We use to do that on cars back in the day.
yes you can run harleys phat wires and there is a place on ebay that makes and sells custom wires, lots of colors and pre made ones but he will also make them for you specific...here is his link...super cool dude and I have s et going on my vicla build that are red or white...i bought both because I couldn't decide lol www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_ssn=tons.performance&store_name=tonsperformance&_oac=1
You made mention of the need to look for wires under the tank. I have a 22 Road King which has the fuel gauge wires coming down on the left side then back up under the tank. Do you know if that is contained to the tank. The service manual made no mention of having to disconnect it in the steps to remove the tank.
Hey Steve, great video Crazy question and I feel silly asking New Harley owner of a 2019 Electra Glide There are only 2 plugs to change on this, correct? or do I follow the same process as your video?
Your 2019 has a M8 107 and all M8s have 4 plugs just like this video..if you go to the brake side (right side) of the bike and look up in there on the front head you can see the plug going into the top ...follow along the same as in this video...thanks for checking it out.
You can run platinum top plugs which is what harley sells or you can run iridium which is stronger and lasts longer...thats the only difference between platinum and iridium..they last longer. Grab up the HD ones or get the NGK iridium plugs here amzn.to/49MNfzX
funny i just did that and noticed one of my wires didn’t look good, all harley had in stock was the screaming eagle ones, in the directions specified to put dielectric grease on both boot ends, even came with the grease, surprised the manual says dry but screaming eagle says use the grease. bought that pliers, i couldn’t get it to work, i tried everything 🤷🏼♂️
yes sir..the screaming eagle wires contradict the service manual and it doesn't hurt to add it...I usually do but this video was strictly by the manual. Sorry you had issues with the pliers...sometimes you can just grab the boot...as long as you are not pulling the wires you're good.

Even the phat plugs do not provide any better spark if you will..they are just thicker so they last longer. As far as the plugs go I would use the OEM plugs every time unless you start building a stage 4 or better bike. And really only iridium plugs would be better and only for their longevity
sorry for the last comment that was to another video...youtubes comment section is super jumpy after the last update, thats my bad. 2010 touring drive.google.com/file/d/11057H2osqL-wMtuizgy9uZIxhqwZWryu/view?usp=sharing
I'll be honest ..I never do it...nothing will happen..it lets a tiny bit of pressure off of the fuel line...but the for the sake of teaching..I go by the book on these videos.
Steve another great video. Quick question. When you purge the tank does it matter how much gas you have in the tank. It looks like once you purge you don't have to worry about any running out when you disconnect the fuel line. Thanks.
if the bike is tuned right you inspect them regularly the service manual says to Replace spark plugs every two years or every 30,000 mi (48,000 km), whichever comes first. side note..ive ran them longer with no issues...again if the bike is tuned properly
I replaced my plugs and wires this year on my 19 CVO RG. I used the Screaming eagle fat wires and the Screaming eagle performance plugs. What’s your opinion? Do the fancy plugs and bigger wires make a difference? It seemed to run smoother however I also changed the header and mufflers at the same time. I previously installed the Woods cam and the Rinehart exhaust was causing tuning issues. It’s dialed in now but definitely made some expensive mistakes on exhaust decisions.
phat wires dont improve anything...the inner diameter is the same as oem wires however they do look better and actually last longer than the oem thin wires. As far as plugs go unless you run an iridium plug , which just lasts longer, there is no huge difference in oem vs fancy plugs. They will both last longer but thats really about it.
Hey, thanks for the video, Good job! Harley recommends every 10,000, what are your thoughts? I understand you did say to inspect them. Just curious what the average mileage is you think?
Thank you ma...if your bike is tuned correctly the spark plugs will last quite awhile...service manual says Replace spark plugs every two years or every 48,000 km (30000 mi), whichever comes first. I inpect mine every other year at the start of the riding season while im doing my T Clocks Inspection. I have a video on that as well...its just easier to do while you have the tools out. here is my t clocks video th-cam.com/video/y1_j_49as9s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=a4R_u5ITFY0Wnh4V
Can’t figure why Harley Davidson maintenance recommends 30K or 2 years. I get the 30K but two years doesn’t match the mileage requirement especially for us low mileage riders. What is significant at 2 years?
Its just the manufacturer doing preventive maintenance however I agree that 2 years seems a bit pre mature. however its not like autos where the plugs are not exposed to outside elements as much as they are on a bike so maybe, and its just me thinking out loud, that's why they say 2 years. I do know I'm guilty of not doing it every two years. Every 4 years has worked great for me so far.
My 2020 started showing signs to replace plugs at 55,000 miles. I did this deliberately and thought they would last around 75,000. But now I know what the life expectancy is.
Have you heard of Timmins Ontario, no, now you have, mining community, 40 yrs underground work,.... when I pass, no more UG, scatter me in the sky off my Harley, so I can keep riding, & dreaming
maybe for you its easy...its not that way for everyone else. Most people know how to change the plug but not everyone knows what to look for on the plug, how to gap plugs correctly or check wires. Not everyone has the same mechanical experience as you. Something to remember.
@@sikbaggers What a crock, it's not rocket science, you either do your own or you take it to a shop, if you do your own then the manual explains it all, gapping a plug is easy, clue in the name, the colour of the plug dictates what needs to be done but you are spouting a lot of BS and what exactly is going to happen to the wires anyway. I've been riding Harleys since the mid 90's, servicing is easy enough for DIY, shops charge way too much considering how long it really takes, pure profit almost, but Harley needs to design a bike where the plugs don't need to take the tank of for gods sake, even the rice burners don't need that crap.
Come on, dude!.... How often do you have to change your plugs? Just put on your cool playlist, take out 4 screws, and follow those SIMPLE instructions. It'll be relaxing and satisfying... and not to mention that you've just saved yourself a hundred bucks. If it makes you feel better... My Chevy Malibu requires an entire bumper removal just to replace the headlight bulb.... which means you have to jack it up and remove the splash guard. Fun fun fun!!!

Steve I’m asking for your help again. I contacted you a couple of weeks ago on advanblack adjustable mount and backrest. Got it installed with no problems but got about 40 miles on it and the mount on pad has rivets that backed out which was an easy enough fix but the adjustment knob that allows pad to move up and down has fallen off and of course I have no idea where. I contacted info@advanblack and they wanted photos which I am very limited in doing on phone. Asked if they could send a parts list and have not heard nothing else from them. This was bought for a 2019 flhx but is installed on 2023 flhxs. If this is something you would rather not get involved in I would totally understand. Thanks David

Steve another great video. Quick question. When you purge the tank does it matter how much gas you have in the tank. It looks like once you purge you don't have to worry about any running out when you disconnect the fuel line. Thanks.
Nope just make sure valve ain’t leaking
Yeah it doesn't matter, its a way one valve. Ill be honest I never purge these...you'll loose a few drops..that's it. But I did it by the manual.
How many klms usually do the spark plugs last as I use SE Plugs in my 2021 SGS ??
if the bike is tuned right you inspect them regularly the service manual says to Replace spark plugs every two years or every 30,000 mi (48,000 km), whichever comes first. side note..ive ran them longer with no issues...again if the bike is tuned properly
So no dialectric grease on the boot end then?
You can, it wont hurt. Going strictly by the service manual
👍✌
Thank you Marco!
I think you mean multiply foot-lbs by 12, not divide (or divide the inch-lbs, not foot-lbs).
yep..thats what I meant...if your horrible at math like I am just use the online calculator lol its much faster
Sure am glad I own a twin cam dyna. I don’t have to take the bike apart to replace spark plugs. That is ridiculous.
lol yes it is...that is why I love my 103's
🚬😎
Thank you sir!
I waste 4 tyraps
what is a Tyraps ?
Have you heard of Timmins Ontario, no, now you have, mining community, 40 yrs underground work,.... when I pass, no more UG, scatter me in the sky off my Harley, so I can keep riding, & dreaming
hell yeah man!
If I need lessons on how to change the plugs on a V twin, I really don't want the bike.
maybe for you its easy...its not that way for everyone else.
You have to remove the gas tank to change spark plugs ! Just another reason not to buy a Milwaukee 8
yeah it sucks but honestly I cna have the tank off faster than removing 2 saddlebags and side covers...its pretty easy
It's not a big deal. Sounds worse than it is.
If you have to show someone how to change a spark plugs or where the spark plugs are on a V-Twin they don't need to be RIDING😂😂😂😂😂😂
maybe for you its easy...its not that way for everyone else. Most people know how to change the plug but not everyone knows what to look for on the plug, how to gap plugs correctly or check wires. Not everyone has the same mechanical experience as you. Something to remember. 31 thousand views in 2 years speaks volumes to what I just said.
Good Morning, oh it was fun. NOT!!
LOL...its not too bad but yeah really sucks if you came from a twin cam and now have to do all of this just to check the plugs.
Thanks
David
Hey david...call me on the advanblack service line or email me your info from the order with your last name and order number if you have it to slhousden@gmail.com ill have it taken care of
@@sikbaggers it’s just bad to have a new scooter and unable to ride it. I’m sure the adjustment knob coming off is my fault it shows no signs of lock tight on it. When putting together I most likely installed everything and forgot to tighten it up
@@sikbaggers if you could let me know that you received my email I would appreciate it
