Not gonna lie, The Line looks fantastic for a futuristic dystopian setting for a young adult novel written in the wake of The Hunger Game's boom in popularity back in early 2010s.
And it's happening in real life! we don't even have to imagine the dystopia anymore!

yeah, if the goal is to make a pedestrian only city, a line isn’t the way to do it… it maximizes the distance anyone has to go to get anywhere. there’s a reason why cities that predate cars are built with a dense center and with both housing and businesses spreading out together from the center. that way, you don’t have to go miles to get to work or get home

@@rymcclure8056 Exactly, a circle with all of the important services and commerces densely packed at the center of the circle is the way that you make a pedestrian city. As RT proved last time, the only way a city in a line works is with cars and large roads. I mean it's not like I expected better from Saudi Arabia but they are doing the opposite of what they should do to achieve their goal.

This city (the Saudi one) looks like it's from a YA dystopian novel a la Divergent or Hunger Games. It would probably be called just The City where you live with The Family and go to The School to take The Test to be accepted into The Society while the poor live outside the walls on a destroyed earth.

As someone who did some geography in middle school, the first thing that came to mind when I saw the real "line" is how it's gonna be a nightmare to live in it ventilation wise
I feel like if anything it's going to have way too much ventilation cause they have the end open pointing at the sea which is just going to channel the wind and intensify it like in places like sf where there're grids of skyscrapers, if they don't figure out how to manage it there's just going to be constantly strong wind blowing

Seeing Dan get back into City Skylines is such a TH-cam moment. Just binged the TH-cam content that was on the channel a few days ago. While he maybe have TH-cam moments throughout the years while building, it makes the cities have real charm.

Great video! Sadly, you neglected to:
1. Place the line in the middle of nowhere. There is meant to be desert everywhere, ocean if you're lucky, not a second city. Your line residents could escape any time!
2. Place giant mirrors at the sides of the lines. Those flocks of birds aren't gonna mass decease on their own!

Might I suggest an alternate story line for this city? First the water dried out in Dublin causing everyone to leave and causing massive banishment of followed by a meteor strike just outside the city limits causing a tsunami to flood and destroy what was left of the abandoned city. As a result Dublin built a line City in the ocean to save the population and to promote more people moving. The end
