In this video i am presenting my procedure for centering stock in 4 jaw independent chuck. It is absolutely beginner friendly and straight forward. Good stuff for mini lathe owners, and beginners. Saves a lot of time and nerves, and gives perfect alignment results.

This technique is outstanding and easy to remember and duplicate. I went out in the shop and set it up the way you had it and it worked a treat! Very nice and easy to remember tighten the jaw to which the needle points! This is simple and very effective. Very well done, Thank you.

I always wondered why you couldn't work your way around the chuck like you have, every other demo of a 4 jaw chuck setup I have seen they always work each pair of jaws on their own. But you have shown me that there is no issue with doing it working around the chuck.!

I am happy that you like it. I use this method daily. I even stopped mounting 3jaw chuck. 4jaw is now my primary chuck.

How do this chinese chucks stack up?
I'm looking into buying one, I only have original emco 3 jaw and 4 jaw, but the 4 jaw is bassicle a standard chuck and can't be centered.
Could you provide the stl for the toolholder?

If this video is ten minutes long, your method can't be that "simple".

it is 10 min with talking, explaining, but when you know what you are doing, you can do it in 2-3 minutes... for hobby usage in my opinion it is fast enough...
