  • Land improvements & property improvements series! This project turned out awesome! Join us for today's PART 1 of 2 episode of completing the 5 acre project property down here in Southern Illinois, nestled amongst ten's of thousands of acres of the Shawnee National Forest. This 5 acre project property started a couple of months ago and today it is just about complete! In today's episode we'll check out the newly built lower campsite and get some before and after videos and congratulate Linda & Steve for their hard work and perserverence, as they spread the gravel on the lower campsite all by hand! Wheel barrows & shovels! Then we'll start on the deep woods road going up a steep hill and then finishing at the rock top (sitting on top of a beautiful ridge) future campsite. When I built this road in the woods and the remote campsites I was under the impression that the stone/gravel was going to be drop spread by a smaller dump truck, similar to my old dump truck. But I was very wrong! LOL. Join us today and you will see my surprise when you see the size of this rear spreading dump truck that the excavator showed up with! But with some last minute bobcat T650 skid steer work, cutting the road wider in a few spots, we were able to improvise, adapt and overcome to get the big, back spreading truck all the way to the top of the ridge! What a fun project this was! Stay tuned for Part 2 and the final completion of this land improvement project as it will really make a difference for the land owners in the way that they can now use it, and it will also improve the future land value and resale value. Here is the link to the full playlist of this particular project property of you'd like to start from the beginning: • Time lapse and excavat...

Yeah no doubt I'm glad he could spread it like that otherwise I would have been making a whole lot of trips up that hill with the skid steer

The size of that truck surprised us too. We were expecting a much smaller one. It got the job done, though! :-)

Wow, this man's phone number is one you keep. Never know in the future what else he has in his garage. That truck is well worth its hourly rate.

If you are going to build a road, why not make it wide enough to allow first responders in?
1 foot wider then the counties largest vehicle (I am guessing a fire engine), and you should be set.

Well the problem would have been we'd have to take out many very large trees in order to do that. But if that dump truck can fit up there pretty much anything smaller than it could fit as well

@@kapperoutdoors Hope your jurisdictions first responder vehicles are smaller than a dump truck.
