I traded Halo 4 for Aliens Colonial Marines at gamestop upon release which I don’t regret til this day. Aliens has always been in my top 3 favorite films since I was a kid.
@@Jarekthegamingdragon I played the game’s multiplayer in its prime and the community was great along with the modes plus the customization was fun to mess around with. not to mention the added bonus that i was apart of the Roblox colonial marines at the time so I also played with a few of the members of that group on the xbox 360 port and met one of them irl after we would play A:CM daily because he lived a town over. We always had fun finding bugs on our own in the game like clipping out of the maps. As for Halo 4 I still can’t play that wreck today on MCC. I had to play it through with one of my friends on legendary in 2019 and couldn’t stand it. It’s a big rivalry for me on if Halo 4 or 5 is worst because the multiplayer on 5 is amazing in it’s current state but the story is 10x worse. while 4 to me seems depressing and void of life at every turn.
i would really love if the team behind isolation made an colonial marines-type game. or one that was more action heavy. imagine the a.i. alien from isolation but with a pulse rifle. i think they would nail the whole, holding off until you barley escape and your number thin aspect of the movie.
I love Aliens as a movie as it is an awesome sequel to a classic, though over the years I wish there had been a couple of changes such as no queens and just egg morphing instead (it makes the creatures just more alien). My major complaint with it however is how it changed the creature, by making it more like an angry bug and cannon fodder I think it reduced how threatening it is. Now it could be mowed down by the dozens. I don't think all future games should be like Alien Isolation which was a pretty good game at the time in which the creature is invulnerable. Rather I think there should be more a middle way between Alien and Aliens when it comes to game portrayal of the creature. It can be wounded and even killed, but it takes a lot of effort as the creature is cunning, fast, and will retreat when overwhelmed. If you actually want to kill it you have to chase it down but this only increases the chances that it will ambush you. So you have to choose between keeping it at bay but it slowly wearing you down, or try to kill it permanently but risk facing it in a place where it has the advantage.
Great job with the review. This is one of the few reviews out there that I feel like properly addresses the problems with game and disappointment without overly exaggerating how bad the game is. It’s really tiring to hear the “worst game of all time” narrative that completely ignores games like hunt down the freeman. I’ll always agree with it’s the most disappointing game but it’s so mediocre it doesn’t even make me directly angry. To me it’s such a boring game that “worst of all time” implies that it’s remarkably bad and it’s not even that. It’s just flat out bad and boring.
I got the achievement for beating the game on the hardest difficulty by doing a true pro-gamer move; run past all the enemies. There are few moments where you actually have to kill the aliens or goons. The vast majority of the campaign is made on seemingly only simple triggers.
@@matteodelapaz1698 I did it on Xbox 360, so most likely not. However, if I remember correctly you should be able to still do it due to how levels are constructed. Most mission end triggers are simple waypoints (mission ends when the player is present in the trigger area). I don't believe the code patch addressed that, so I think only the enemies are more difficult.
damn speaking of passionless games you should do a review of RE3 remake, clearly a somewhat decent/ok game that had absolutly no love and personality put into it. well, compared to the original
Hey. Hey, Jerek. Remember when you reviewed the Snow Wolf Pulse Rifle on your airsoft account and said you were excited for Colonel Marines? Good times.
This looks like a case of bait and switch. They probably had better builds of the game that once had all the demo elements but then they were like "nope, change it and cut costs, we dont want to spend too much on resources because we spent too much on paying actors!"
I remember buying this game on launch and the guy at the counter reminding me that I had 7 days to return it, "return it..?" I said, "Yeah...a *few* people have been bringing it back" Oh god we played 30 minutes and took it straight back
i remember playing thru this game all the way on the PS3 a year ago. yeah it sucked, the weapons had too much sway and were very inaccurate. the sawed off double barrel shotgun was kinda fun, but you had to pay for it (it was only $1 though) and it fired both barrels at once, woulda preferred an option to fire one barrel at a time
Yeah big difference in the lighting, atmosphere, and the bioscanner feeling like your heartbeat and a constant reminder that you are in danger, you could be surrounded.
Kill me on the spot but while everybody hated that game, I found it started draging me in after 2 hours of playing. I played it from beginnning to end twice overall with a 3-4 years pause between that. And I think honestly that -while it wasn't what we wanted- it is not a bad game overall.
After I watched those clips of AvP 2010, I checked steam to see what the price was and found out that the complete editions of both AvP and Aliens: Isolation were on sell together for about $15. I mean talk about a steal
I remember playing the multiplayer at PAX East one year. Honestly we thought it was just because it wasn't supposed to be a completed build. If only we knew.
Back in the day, I played this one day before release day, I had an Xbox 360 with LT 3.0 and I bought a pirated copy, that was when I was at high school and it was impossible to afford an original copy, good that I only spent like 4 bucks on it
I just finished this game for the first time. Difficulty: "Hardened". I am such a big fan of Aliens and I wished it was far better that it actually was. Forgettable and repetitive. They tried some new tricks but they didn't work for me. It had some fine moments and tense scenarios but overall I felt disappointed. In my opinion the game could have been better if: - you had scarce ammunition all around but the weapons were much more powerful - you had fewer xenomorphs but more intelligent and deadlier - they did something to show how vulnerable you can be without making the gameplay frustrating - if they had to add human enemies at least add some combat andriods
I’m not going to lie I had a lot of fun playing this game on PS3 when it first came out. I got it on launch and beat the campaign on its hardest difficulty and put hours and hours into the multiplayer. It’s bad of course, but for some reason I just loved it.
Oh, god, Colonial Marines. I made the mistake of buying this poor man's F.E.A.R. earlier this year (IDKW, though). I actually began my attempt to play through this (after fixing the Teather bug) with Stasis Interrupted, the game's Downloadable Expansion Pack. Gameplay wise, it's a meh (definitely better than the main game), but writing wise, oh god. It felt like a butthurt Aliens fanboy's attempt to write the events of Alien 3 and the expanded universe material that followed out of canon by retconning the opening crash so that Hicks was replaced by some other marine, and that he attempted to save Ripley from committing suicide. As a true (read: sane and healthy) fan of the first three Alien movies, although it wasn't as insulting as Covenant, it still baffled me to no end. And then I tried to play the main game and OH GOOD GRIEF. Basically, you're better off playing Alien: Isolation and the Aliens versus Predator games than this. I know that the person reading this comment is a reasonable adult who knows not to buy crap, and so it's mandatory to stick to those. I only recommend Aliens: Colonial Marines if you're curious. Or if you're a butthurt Aliens fan, if you want to see canon take it up the ass. Or... for those of you with short attention spans, let me put it another way: *GET AWAY FROM THIS GAME YOU DUMB BITCH!!!!*
After this game i stopped supporting Gearbox and defaulting to all their games bein shit. The whole Epic Game Store exclusivity on Godfall and Boredomlands 3 didn't help either
I have both Aliens and Aliens Vs. Predator 3. I play more AVP3 then CM, just cause I can have that Alien movie vibe while playing as the Rookie, the Predator and Specimen 6. CM just leaves me wanting more. Also, now that you said Bioshock, have you done a review of the Bioshock games? Don't remember if you did or not.
3 things I remember from aliens colonial Marines 1.) The multiplayer was pretty alright. The escape game mode could be a lot of fun, or an absolute nightmare depending on the braincells of the randoms. The rest of the modes were OK at best and balance was good (except for the bull Xeno and smart gun scope for DMR). Player customization was pretty good too. 2.) The one level where you gotta be sneaky and quiet was fantastic on your first run. It was basicly discounted dollar store alien isolation. But unlike A:I, the first run is all you get. Absolutely no replay value for that level or the rest of the campaign 3.) Horde survival mode was God awful
Acm overhaul did improve aspects of the game and make it better on pc. But it still could have been so much more and better. Its on sale now and potentially worth it just to experience it with the mod.
Sega launch Alien Isolation ... and the diference from colonial marines is so big... A isolation show love in that game... the atmosfere, the sound, and the alien... that how an alien game should be done

It’s Alien: Isolation time Jarek. You can hide no longer
13:41 it’s literally one of the first things I was taught in programming class: just one small mistake in your code can ruin your whole program
“Waow.... this blows!” LOL
For a second after starting the video I thought jarek lost an eye
Jarek Uploads always make my day.
Indeed
@@FluttershyBTK Any more to recommend ?
heya Jarek! try review Brothers in Arms franchise. it's an underrated WWII FPS that has yet to be concluded.. now reaching 12 years later.
If Randy actually showcases us something.
We all know it was sacrificed to bring us another smash hit for Gearbox: Battleborn!
Was this before or after the code patch?
@@matteodelapaz1698 I did it on Xbox 360, so most likely not. However, if I remember correctly you should be able to still do it due to how levels are constructed. Most mission end triggers are simple waypoints (mission ends when the player is present in the trigger area). I don't believe the code patch addressed that, so I think only the enemies are more difficult.
@@kyleperry8640 I mean I remember Charlie did that exact strat after the code patch.
get that Raid money Jarek!!
damn speaking of passionless games you should do a review of RE3 remake, clearly a somewhat decent/ok game that had absolutly no love and personality put into it. well, compared to the original
It's already a red flag if the game has Randy "Egomaniac" Pitchford anywhere near it.
Hey.
Hey, Jerek.
Remember when you reviewed the Snow Wolf Pulse Rifle on your airsoft account and said you were excited for Colonel Marines?
Good times.
Thx for the new upload jarek. Can we have a video about I.G.I series in future? Never saw any TH-camr talks about it
Whatever happened to that sequel teased a year ago?
@@rayyanali4471 They said the release would be in the year of 2021. But we don't know the exact time of it
"C O I N C I D E N T A L L Y"
My god Gearbox is just cancer...
And that cancer has a tumor.
Tried to have fun playing this but it just doesn’t feel like AvP shooting at all
This looks like a case of bait and switch. They probably had better builds of the game that once had all the demo elements but then they were like "nope, change it and cut costs, we dont want to spend too much on resources because we spent too much on paying actors!"
I remember buying this game on launch and the guy at the counter reminding me that I had 7 days to return it, "return it..?" I said, "Yeah...a *few* people have been bringing it back"
Oh god we played 30 minutes and took it straight back
i remember playing thru this game all the way on the PS3 a year ago. yeah it sucked, the weapons had too much sway and were very inaccurate. the sawed off double barrel shotgun was kinda fun, but you had to pay for it (it was only $1 though) and it fired both barrels at once, woulda preferred an option to fire one barrel at a time
When you said 15 years old I just slowly turned to look at my 360 wide eyed
on the brightside, Alien Isolation is great
Aliens colonial marines crawled so alien isolation could sprint
Yeah big difference in the lighting, atmosphere, and the bioscanner feeling like your heartbeat and a constant reminder that you are in danger, you could be surrounded.
I just refreshed feed and I saw the upload few seconds ago
Nice timing
Hi "It's always Jarek here". It's always a joy to see a video of yours.
And to think an Aliens rpg developed by Obsidian was cancelled so resources could be focused on this trash.
It's amazing the installation is still intact after they nuked the site from orbit.
Never played this one. I remember the launch however. Holy crap that was probably one of gaming's biggest flops
Ah, Gearbox, a company you would work in, if you want something more shadier and untrustworthy than working for EA
13:16 "Moves in anger"
Rebellion should make an alien game they well make it a lot more greater
Kill me on the spot but while everybody hated that game, I found it started draging me in after 2 hours of playing. I played it from beginnning to end twice overall with a 3-4 years pause between that. And I think honestly that -while it wasn't what we wanted- it is not a bad game overall.
This was the last game I took launch day off for. Never again.
Same

After I watched those clips of AvP 2010, I checked steam to see what the price was and found out that the complete editions of both AvP and Aliens: Isolation were on sell together for about $15.
I mean talk about a steal
I remember playing the multiplayer at PAX East one year. Honestly we thought it was just because it wasn't supposed to be a completed build. If only we knew.
Oh boy, this’ll be quite a video
Me and my brother loved the hell out of this game, we played splitscreen for hours
You should review Project Wingman when it comes out. There's a game with some passion put into it.
Back in the day, I played this one day before release day, I had an Xbox 360 with LT 3.0 and I bought a pirated copy, that was when I was at high school and it was impossible to afford an original copy, good that I only spent like 4 bucks on it
I’m curious how much raid shadow legends actually sponsors youtubers anymore. It’s a bit rare to see the sponsor ad now than last year.
Well if the majority of people are happy with certain sponsors like Raid, you'll quickly understand why their ads keep popping up for a long time
I love your reviews so much dude, I'm really glad your sub count keeps increasing!
In my opinion the game could have been better if:
- you had scarce ammunition all around but the weapons were much more powerful
- you had fewer xenomorphs but more intelligent and deadlier
- they did something to show how vulnerable you can be without making the gameplay frustrating
- if they had to add human enemies at least add some combat andriods
The whole Epic Game Store exclusivity on Godfall and Boredomlands 3 didn't help either
lol $70 for godfall
I'm still sad that we never got to play that part from that E3 demo back In 2011.
3 things I remember from aliens colonial Marines
1.) The multiplayer was pretty alright.
Absolutely no replay value for that level or the rest of the campaign
3.) Horde survival mode was God awful
AVP 2010 was ahead of its time
I bought this game a few days ago for £0.50, when I saw it in the store I just *had* to have it, just for a laugh
I love so much Alien universe that literally hurt when i see the trailers and gameplays...and remembers that the final thing is a mess...
You are the first youtuber I have seen to mention rs 1 thanks for that that game is so underloved but so good
Acm overhaul did improve aspects of the game and make it better on pc. But it still could have been so much more and better. Its on sale now and potentially worth it just to experience it with the mod.
I never even played the game to the end, that’s how p.o. I was with it.
I think Duke Nukem forever is more disappointing.
DNF and ACM are both development hell influenced games. a pity for they could have been good.
You ever play Duke Nukem Forevers Expansion? Its actually better than the main game. Also its multiplayer is limited but fun.
@@WllKiedSnake Yeah, plus PC DNF is better.
I think that really only comes down to which franchise you are more attached to.
Alien Isolation and AvP2 by Monolith are the best hands down!
I somehow remember enjoying this game. But I did play it mostly co op
Sega launch Alien Isolation ... and the diference from colonial marines is so big... A isolation show love in that game... the atmosfere, the sound, and the alien... that how an alien game should be done
If you used the lurker xeno in the mp you could charge the jump and launch across the map. Flying xenoes
Not the worst, but ranks way up there on the "most disappointing game ever"
And let's not forget the MASSIVE (10GB I believe) patch they dropped. Didn't fix a hell of a lot...
Michael Biehn expressing foreboding about companies gobbling up beloved franchises to make money out of them without showing the love for the lore several years before Disney, CBS, Netflix, EA etc turned the dial upto 11 and declared F your feelings.
Glad you played this so I don't have to.
Where'd you get that jacket? Its awesome
AvP 2010
Damn i have good memories playing that with friends esspecially survival mode
Still hoping if jarek would do analysis about Spec Ops The Line
I must admit, I enjoyed Colonial Marines. I first played it on PC, then bought a cheap collector's edition off ebay for PS3
