    Another great thing about the Opia is that it comes with a swivel mount. Useful for capturing police encounters, road rage etc.

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t actually swivel around enough to aim towards a side window though

      Vortex Radar my mount does. Perhaps your mount is a different one? Mine can spin around, chord is the only issue with preventing full 360 turns.

    I have to say, thanks to both of you *_Vortex Radar_* and *_BlackboxMyCar_* for your thorough reviews you did in your own TH-cam channels. Those reviews were truly helpful for me to decide which dashcam was suitable for me.
    Therefore I bought the _Blackvue dr750s-2ch_ , a _Cellink B Power Bank_ to power the dashcam and a _Lexar High-Performance MicroSDXC, 633x, 128 GB, UHS-I_ . 👍

    I use the Garmin 55 Dash Cam, one of the best I have used. 3.7 Megapixel 1440p Camera with a 122 degree lens, Voice Control with GPS, Forward collision and lane departure warnings.... plus alerts for nearby red light cameras and speed cameras. Voice control allows you to start/stop audio recording, take a still picture or start/stop the Travelaps video capture feature, WiFi, and much More. I have used 4 others before this one, and at this moment, the Garmin is the best.

    Good video. I would have liked to know a couple more things about each of these (yes, I know it was an "over-view" of them, not in depth) like: 1.) how do each attach? Suction? Sticky tape? Window only mount? 2.) Power supply? TY

  • @kens97sto171
    @kens97sto171 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the A119. I'm pretty sure it does 1440p also. Like mine a lot. Only complaint was the mount was a bit loose and rattled just a bit. I tightened it up with a couple pieces of zip ties stuck in between the mount and the camera.
    Has great useful features for making sure it IS ACTUALLY recording. It beeps at you if something has gone wrong and it's bit recording.

    My first dashcam was the Blackvue dr400g season 2 in 2012. It was brand new at the time it came out and I still use it to this day. So far its showing its age and I often question "I hope it got that video!" In my 5.25 years of ownership I take the camera inside every night. The cable stays inside the car overnight. I get a new memory card every year vs recycling old cards. Pros with the blackvue, durability as its fallen off of my windshield more times than i can count hitting my dash. It has turned on working everytime without me having to question if it turned on or not. Cons the computer software/app is wonky and makes no sense. No more app updates for my older unit. The gps stopped working less than 3 years. The power cable had to be replaced after 2.5 years. When formatting the memory card and putting it back into the dash cam it won't work. The dash cam speaks Korean to me so I'm unsure what its saying. Overall it might seems like I hate the Blackvue but I honestly recommend it. Caught this cash on my blackvue th-cam.com/video/pvRDYLZEfb4/w-d-xo.html

    Whenever i feel like i want to shoot Video of both the Front doors these cameras have Option to Shoot outside at any time like a Vlogger and do not want to shoot video of (Front and inside the Rear Room) , then the SKYBLUESEA B2W & CAMSONIC ULTRA Z 2 & 3 Dash Cam Benefits if a person want to shoot a video outside the front doors sides Left & Right. Option like Rear View Mirror , would be easy to change the direction to record Multiple Angles of both the Cams accordingly , option to Rotate , as they Rotates 180 degrees , like Rear view Mirror Angle . I love those Dash Cams .

    Why didn't you include the DR900s in this comparative lineup. I enjoyed your overview video of it and am looking forward to the follow up video. I'm on the verge of buying it. Some of the features that are most attractive to me are the size and the built-in GPS compared to the other BlackVue models where you need extra items mounted to your windshield. I'd love to hear your comments or follow up on it the 900.
    Thanks!

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      haha easy, because that camera didn't exist at the time the video was shot. :D It's a great camera and I love it now. It's my favorite dashcam, and it's basically a DR750S that shoots in 4K and isn't quite as sensitive in low light. I shot an updated version of this video a few weeks ago and plan on working on it soon and it features the DR900S.

      @@VortexRadar haha... Yes I saw the date discrepancy after I sent my initial note. Thanks for the reply. So if money isn't really a factor, that's the cam you'd recommend? It will be going into a new Ford Explorer Platinum and I would do a direct wire install from the fuse box and I'll likely get a Uni R3 and direct wire that from the rear view mirror. I was going to get the 360 until I saw your video. So glad I found your channel. I just assumed the most expensive was the best.

    Y'all never talked about the memory cap with the SD cards, and only one video of night time video, it would have been nice all the cameras with night time. As well as how are they all hooked up in the car to power them.

    • @VortexRadar

      This is a short summary of all the cameras, not an in depth comparison review of every detail for every camera. I've got more in depth reviews on my channel if you're looking for those. Any dashcam can be powered into your cig. lighter or hardwired into your fuse box. Some offer voltage monitors for parking mode or dedicated battery packs. You'll find info about these on my channel as well.

    how do u get video of interior? do u need to install another 2 channel system specifically for interior? or do those cameras rotate to record a video on parking mode? im really trying to look for an answer.
    i am looking for a dual cam front and back but can also get a video from the inside to have a view of both sides of the car for vandalism protection purposes.

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So funny enough, there's no all-in-one 3 channel solutions like you're describing. Usually what people do is get a rideshare setup that has a normal front facing dashcam and a second interior dashcam with IR LED's to light up the cabin at night. Then you get a standalone third regular dashcam to mount on the rear and now you have your 3-channel setup. Here's a couple examples: www.blackboxmycar.com/collections/rideshare-bundles?aff=18

    question....
    i want a dash cam but i also want to be able to record video for the day. I drive for a living and want a dash cam for safety/security and all...but i also want to be able to record my drive for the day and use that video for youtube or sharing with family/friends. All the cams ive seen say they record in 1-5 min loops. Which of course isnt a whole day recording...or recording till the sd card is full.
    Any thoughts??
    Thanks for any responses.

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They actually record indefinitely. They 1-5 min loops are just to help keep file sizes small. This way one video clip is maybe 100 megabytes instead of several gigabytes. If you need to combine multiple clips into one longer video, you can easily do so in any video editor.
      Once the memory card is full, it starts deleting old footage, 1-5 minutes at a time, way better than deleting a video file that could be hours long. It's much easier to have lots of little clips instead of a few big ones.

    The thinkware Fwhat what what can you say that a little faster , I can't catch that model number
    I have used a Blackvue 650S two channel and on hot days the rear channel would fail , totally stopped working now even though the power light is on, never did well with the disconnect you must do to get the front camera out of the base when you want to pull the SD card out to copy a recording. I have no faith that the recording will be there when the chips are down . The main camera will sometimes complain about the SD card not being present even though its in the slot .

    One thing to keep in mind that they did not touch upon is reliability. Many dash cams are built for a sprint and not a marathon. The most reliable dashcam is the OPIA 1 AND 2. They are built to last.

    I’m confused with the blackvue. Does the cam itself need to find a “hotspot”? Or does it have an “lte” type thing where it’s always broadcasting live? If it needs to find one, how does it? Do you do it manually?

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It can either connect to an existing hotspot to go out to the internet or it can provide its own wifi hotspot for your phone to connect to to change settings or view videos on your memory card.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The BlackVue has the regular Wifi feature (think of it more as Bluetooth) where the unit emits Wifi that your phone can then connect to via the app. There is a range that limits this connection to about 25-30 feet away from the dashcam. The BlackVue also has a Cloud feature, which allows you to connect via the app but from anywhere and at anytime - this requires you to provide the dashcam with an Internet connection (via the form of a hotspot device). Hope this helps!

    So i'm looking for a 3 channel das cam.
    front, rear, inside of cab night vision,

    • @VortexRadar

      Usually you'd be looking at a front/rear dashcam up front like the VanTrue N2 Pro amzn.to/2kClHHD and then you can toss in a simple dashcam like the A119 on the rear window. amzn.to/2ritPyg
      Many cams have an HDMI or Video out port. Just take a close look at the sides of the cameras where the ports are.

      The Blackvue has a 2nd channel cam you can mount anywhere. I have it mounted under my rear view mirror and see everything inside the car for driving Uber.

      Unfortunately, no single dashcam will get you a 360 degree field of view. You would be looking at a 4-channel setup found here: www.blackboxmycar.com/collections/4-channel-dash-cams

      Usually the ones with the double stick tape (which is all of the dashcams listed here) is the way to go. Suction cups usually don't stick as well.

    • @VortexRadar

      You'll want a dashcam with WiFi. You connect to the dashcam using the app, download the video file over WiFi, and then play it on your iPad.

    if you park beside somebody and you have a cameras facing in front and behind, will it detect and will you see a car door being opened beside you? Also in the park mode, if your using it to record stuff while you're away from your vehicle, isn't it possible that now your camera will being easily seen by people walking by and possibly stolen now? thanks

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Front and rear cameras only see front and rear, not the sides. As for parked recording, sure it may be seen, but many times not. Plus some newer dashcams can automatically upload parked events now for this exact reason. ;) The Thinkware F800 Pro and BlackVue DR750S and DR900S have been updated to add this ability.

    • @westernsharpie
      @westernsharpie 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      upload parked events? what does that exactly mean. If somebody breaks in say from the side, reaches in and takes the cam off the dashboard, what exactly will it record? Sorry if my question sounds stupid

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When the camera senses an event while parked such as an impact detected, if you’re parked near a WiFi hotspot it can connect to, it can automatically upload that video clip to the cloud. That way you have the video saved immediately, plus you have it in case the dashcams themselves are stolen. It’s an extra layer of protection.

      Anything with GPS. A front only cam like the A119 will be perfect for capturing just the driving. If you want it recording when you’re in the shop, get a cam and power solution like the BlackVue that’s great with parked recording.

    Which is best for Uber or Lyft?

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Something like the A119 or BlackSys is great for recording your surroundings while you drive. If you want to record inside the car, you can use the rear camera on the windshield but flipped around to capture inside the car. The Vantrue N2 Pro is a popular option as well because it has an integrated rear-facing camera in the windshield dashcam so it's designed for this option. It's a specialty camera that we didn't cover here. amzn.to/2kClHHD
