That is a stupid thing to write. This is NOT a filthy "cover", aka a rendition of a piece that covers all the moves made by a preceding artiste in their rendition. It is an original artiste's interpretation of a piece that is, to my personal taste, pretty basic. Other cellists have managed to make a better job of this piece than its composer, (faint praise indeed), Hauser manages to give it some class and a lot of originality. The way he tortures the A string without torturing our ears is beyond description. Will other cellists make covers of this?
This is not a cover. A performance of a classical piece isn't considered to be a "cover". In classical music the focus is on the composition (and thereby the composer) itself, not the performer or the performer's interpretation. Anyone is free to perform a classical piece, which is not the case in popular music. The term "cover" refers to a new recording or performance of a song by someone other than the original artist. In pop music the focus is on the performing artist; the composer(s) are often unknown to the casual listener.
I have loved this piece for many years. This is the first time I have heard Hauser's interpretation. Hauntingly beautiful. This was the last piece of music my dear husband wanted me to play for him before he went to heaven. What an entrance.

My father passed from Covid-19. This immensely passionate and turbulent piece allowed me to express my emotions. From the eloquence of the beginning portraying the uneasiness and unknown at the beginning. To the build heart breaking note change and the build up of pain and inevitability. The torment of the tranquility of the aftermath. The last note will resonate and echo forever. Thank you for your performance. Thank you for your passion.
I'm so sorry Andy. This virus doesn't even allow family to say good bye to their loved ones. I work in a hospital and it was a nightmare. I lost dear nurse friends and one family member, I pray for their souls.
I just found this cellist tonight, and the tears are streaming down my face. Being home bound because of this terrible pandemic, i need something this beautiful and soothing and majestic to help me remain calm. Beautiful!
He is also famous for being in the group: 2Cellos if I am not mistaken. They have a TH-cam channel. Just look up on youtube: 2Cellos. Also Hauser does covers too with Lola( pianist ), senorita ( a singer ) and others. I recommend you listen to their duo covers. really epic and beautiful. Watch the cover of him( Hauser is his name ) with Lola doing La La Land cover or Love Story cover with Lola. And his cover of Mariage d'Amour with the cello.
I see so many languages here. We are all inspired, by what we hear, a masterpiece. A young man sitting with many other talented souls. They give us a universal tribute where no language barrier can divide. We all reach our level of peace, gratitude, forgiveness.
We’re all the same, but different. Many, many things connect us as human beings. We’re not quite so different as we think…in the end though we will (currently) will destroy ourselves over politics.
This music is truly magical and was played at my brothers funeral this October aged 49, who served 20 years for the armed forces, really moves me. Rip bro x
Exceptional. This brought back exquisite memories of my days playing 40 years ago. Best years of my life. Now I have lived long enough to go to concerts to hear my grandson play the cello. God is good.
That was so hauntingly beautiful. He seems to be totally unaware of his surroundings but at one with his music. I would say that he is the best cellist in the world and I never get tired of listening to his music.
Ahw ♥️ that’s so sweet of you He is very good indeed. I discovered him true my for you page on TikTok (don’t know if you have that, but that’s where I fell in love with it)
It doesn’t bug you, that the camera work forces them to all avoid looking at it when it’s right in their face, if he’s aware of the camera, he’s not lost
Quelle magnifique interprétation merci à vous Stéphan véritable virtuose qui peut nous émouvoir et dans d’autres concerts vous pouvez être drôle👏🏻 MERCI
December 20, 2024.Who's here ? Zapata, Texas. Perhaps the most hauntingly beautiful piece ever written. This music is so spiritual that I feel like my soul has left my body. This piece always brings me to tears. Masterful performance. Respect to Hauser. If this masterpiece is not played at my funeral, I will not go .....
Thank you.... The officials are saying in 8 days ...New York City will reach its apex and they estimate 800 souls will perish in one day. My son lives there ...... Another child of mine lives in California .... another hotbed of this awful virus As a mother..... it's one of the most frightening times of my life. God help us all 😥
To the people of the universe, really. For we are the only people people. We have faced many worse afflictions as humans, many, many worse afflictions. What makes this unique is that perhaps for the first time ever, we don't revel in the downfall or suffering of others.
Hauser: I don't understand how you can play such a variety of different pieces so flawlessly. I guess that is what professional musicians have to do, but you are in another class entirely. It's beyond passion; you are one with the cello and I can feel your heart beating in every performance. Thank you!
Amiga mía suelta lo que te aya al dolor todos tenemos tristezas y no hay nadie que se haya vencido lucha por tus sueños todo está dentro de ti hasta el alivio que te llevará a la paz bendiciones
1. TALENT (FROM GOD, BORN TO BE and PAST LIFE(I WOULD SAY WHENEVER I SEE A GENIOUS)) 2. EFFORT ([ENDLESS DEVOTION) 3. PRACTICE TIME (ENDLESS...) IF ABOVE ALL THOSE CAN BE POSSIBL, YOU CAN DO IT TOO...BUT I DO NOT THINK SO. OH, I ADMIRE HIS MOTHER :) WITHOUT HER, WE CAN NOT MEET HIM.
I listened to this song many, many years ago, when I was a child, in the story on vinyl of the Happy Prince, when he gave his gold leaves to the poor in the city... then life took me to places and moments where, as a soldier I wouldn't have wanted to live or be... I had this song on my walkman, then I listened to it in my mind while fix-aid my wounded core mates... today I live with the memory that my life wasthe right one...I have two children and four grandchildren...I think I've done enough...I'm tired...I want to sleep and dream that it's quiet...like in this piece...for the memory of those who are no more...
But, it's that complete drop into silence for those brief seconds which then opens back into a soft lament which brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to this piece. A Happy and Peaceful 2024 to all the world!
Hauntingly beautiful, Hauser is at one with his instrument and the best cellist I've ever heard and I'm 60 now. This is better than the orchestral version, a performance for the history books. It's become clear to me that Western culture will survive in the east. Thank you, never stop playing.
Agree. It's dead in the West, thriving in E. Europe and E. Asia. Witness S. Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. Even the "Communist Bloc" countries of Asia are bringing more to Western Classical music than W. Europe and the Americas. Shame on us.
Every single note is filled with overwhelming passion and love, he plays from the deepest part of his heart, soul and spirit. I cannot get enough of this magnificent interpretation of a timeless and magical piece. It moves me to tears each and every time......my being is transported to a plane where only beauty and majesty exist. What a privilege and an honour to be able to share this glorious and exquisite experience, thank you maestro Hauser. Accolades must also go to the group of incredibly gifted musicians who supported him so ably, so sympathetically and in complete harmony throughout. Magnificent.
Goodness me! How that man can make that cello cry! This is one of my favourite pieces and I am right now moved to tears by that rendition. Thank you Hauser!
Despite Hauser being absolutely AMAZING, can we just take a moment to PRAISE the cinematography? FLAWLESS camera work. Hats off to the director and his team! Gave me CHILLS.
Let me be a jerk for a sec. This wasn't meant to be a solo. Although beautifully arranged and played by clearly a master on a cello that sings when you look at it; I want conglomeration.
Kat I M : conglomeration with Hauser? It’s impossible... he is a solo when is playing the classical music... he is superior to the others and emerges anyway...
AGREED! I was waiting for the commercial to appear, my hand on the mouse ready to advance it through the ad when I realized it wasn't coming on. Hallelujah!
This version with the cello leading is beautiful... I had Adagio for strings playing at my husband's funeral, almost 3 months ago... As he was being buried... He loved this song, it is our families' favorite strings piece... So incredibly moving... It is so very hard to hear it now, after he is gone, and it transports me back to that time and place.
So sorry for your loss. I lost my precious mom recently, and this reminds me so much of her beautiful soul and gentle spirit, so I can relate to your pain.

@@lanaartsncrafts2026 ... still crying when I listen this amazing and speechless performance played by Stjepan... Both, my son and daughter are music students/cello... Cello is the perfect sound of my house!👩👧👦🎻🎼💓🤗🎻🎼💓🤗 A proud mother!
I think Samuel Barber's Adagio expresses the sadness of the 20th century that we humans share. And I believed it was an unhelpful sadness that would never be purified. But Hauser's performance purifies that sadness. It was a great surprise to me and deeply moved. Hauser sublimated his sorrow into a cleansed prayer. And I certainly saw the salvation of the soul beyond that sound. 感動して泣いたよ。ありがとう!
Yes Yuji what a wonderful explanation of this Wonderful Piece Adagio you seem to be saying everything I was thinking no doubt the best version I have heard in my 79 years Hausers Cello version performance and company was done to perfection with sadness and Dignity like a true Professional Thank God we have this man and his wonderful talent.😆
This brought all of us together, without words, speechless, we all feel the love, feeling, and emotions througth this notes. A world as it should be, all emotional, all United throught the time and distance. A hug to all of you outhere!
With such passion, love, and absolute conviction, Hauser does not play an instrument known to us as the cello... they ARE the instrument. When someone bares their soul like this, not a word needs to be spoken. No way to know what was on their mind in this performance, yet... there are glimpses in breathing, in softened glances to the side, how the cello is held. The wood itself tells a story, edges rough instead of net-new from the workbench. Life itself has left its mark. Simply incredible, and unbelievable. Not a word more can be written; it would be ineffective to do so.
It's as if Hauser's soul feels ever note of this piece & he's playing it for us so we can experience it too. Brings tears to my eyes. Simply magnificent
We need God! People need the Lord. People need to love others and love Justice. Only God help us #DrainTheSwamp and the destroyers of our Earth... #covid19 is man made. By the elite... Louise Graham Yes, it truly is an amazing composition. To find out Barber created these majestic sounds that generate such profound emotions when he was in his 20s just takes my breath away.
He can clearly play, and well. He is also a showman and surrounds himself with beautiful young players who can also play well. This performance says a lot about his self image.
He is totally unaware that there is anyone else here with him. Just him and his cello. Such talent and compassion cannot be compared .... total commitment!!!
Tony Tunbridge I thought I was wrong in thinking that, he is a magnificent musician, but a bit exagerated in his attitude. My son plays clasical guitar and says that is all for show, that is what people like. Mr. Houser has said many times, we should not take ourselves to seriously
@@Marisa4412 His name is Hauser and he is absolutely brilliant. Of course, he acts the fool sometimes but this all adds to his charm. Your son is wrong ........ most people love this charm and I have yet to meet anyone who plays the cello as he does. He is very talented, an excellent musician, charming and very handsome. He has brought so much pleasure into my life during this terrible time that we are enduring. I absolutely love him and I am a 77-year-old woman!!!
This always evokes sorrow and inner peace for me. I think of the hard times I’ve had in my life and how God guided me through it all. Thanks to Him, I am healthy, happy and have had a good life. This is the most amazing experience. It is an experience not just listening or hearing, I feel it. It's like being pulled up to the heavens and then being let go, for a moment, you float. I am truly struck by the magnificent piece. Bravo, Stjepan. Bravo!
Guess have different perspectives on this piece. I remember it in the soundtrack to PLATOON, a film about the Vietnam War. War tends to be very depressing.
@Hauser Cello I am from the UK it’s a pleasure to chat with you have a wonderful Talent I’ve never seen anyone with your skill and emotion when Playing your Wonderful Cello I wish you Long Life and happiness
The true mark of an absolute genius....I have never seen him look at a sheet of music, yet he plays everything from memory! I have noticed this in every video as he plays every individual piece of music!! Is there another cello player on earth that performs like Hauser? I truly doubt it !!!

Wow, perhaps one of the most beautiful renditions I have ever heard of this epic piece of music. You can see on his face, his sheer passion for the beauty of the music.
The saddest classical music composed by a 26 years old American prodigy Samuel Barber while studying in Italy in 1936. I always wondered, was he homesick, depressed or simply missing his love? Sure he created a beautiful hymn of mourning and grieving. It's played around the world at funerals, memorials, annoncements of death and tragedy.
Stjepan Hauser’s pieces are bringing me to more tears than usual during these terrible times. But the tears cannot spoil my devotion and complete enjoyment of the glorious music and his complete immersion in it. Thank God for all we can get to uplift us in these days of sorrow, distress and fear. There are many other musicians of all varieties who can bring some relief to everyone who cares to listen. Musicians are our gift. Oh, and good movies! C. Waugh.
When I die I want Hauser with an orchestra to play it on my funeral. This is such a heartbreaking, amazing composition, very emotional and well-played. I feel like ascending to the other dimension , world in the moment of still being alive. This is so tragic...and beautiful. And face expressions of Hauser are gold, he feels his music so profoundly.
Hauser will one day be enshrined in heaven for this deeply felt, unbearably moving and majestic rendering of this noble music. Truly balm for the soul in these trying times.
I’ve always been so stuck on the idea that this is song was meant for an orchestra, a sea of instruments where you can get engulfed in the wave of sound and emotion but I could NEVER EVER take away how absolutely amazing you and everyone in this video sounds. I almost threw my whole phone at the wall when I hit a commercial honestly lol. I absolutely loved the climax and how everything blended. An art. This song could never and should never be forgotten and I thank you for paying tribute to it beautifully.
Someone said here in the comments that it’s as if he is holding someone he loves, someone who is dying in his arms. Such a perfect description. It really is sublime, the tone he gets in the high notes in the crescendo...such passion and pain and release. The soothing lower register afterwards, like a balm on your soul. Haunting. Just beautiful. I play the cello (nowhere near his standard, obviously) and it is an intensely personal thing. You embrace the cello. You hold it against you. You feel every vibration. It cries and you cry with it. That connection is profound. No other instrument is like it. The cello is the closest register to the human voice, and that definitely comes into the magnitude of emotion that it can convey when played so beautifully... My cello has a name for a reason. It lives when I play, and I feel its life under my hands and against me, like a living thing. Magical. I can’t explain it.
I feel you Dude. I'm no instrument player but I also love the cello and that connection between it and it's owner is so profound and amazing to watch. Not so long ago a year or two, I got to see Gary Hoffman play his cello ( 1616 Amati). Till this very day I still remember that concert like it was yesterday and it will live with me forever.
What you wrote gives me deep emotions..I play Gongs..everyone of them has its own voice and personality, and name.. I have e very deep connection with them, even if there is no physical contact, from my heart and my soul their vibrations are one with me when I play, I cannot explain with words, it is something that bring you beyond borders..one with the Universe.
Hauser utterly CRUSHES it, I doubt I will ever hear a more perfect, and skillfully played version of this. He is SEEING the music as he plays it, total focus on every note. Masterful.
@@graemeferguson3243 But that doesn't make it a song. I find it really annoying that people call everything a "song". Opera arias, symphonic works, chamber music, doesn't matter, as soon as they hear two notes put together it's a song! I don't expect all people to know all terms in classical music, but couldn't they just say "I like this music"?
wrong Adagio..the Gallipoli Adagio is the one by Albinoni. This one by Barber was used in Platoon. BTW..Hauser also has a video playing Adagio by Albinoni. Fantastic music.
Это превосходно! С какой нежностью, с каким наслаждением, с каким чувством он это делает! Как будто к женщине прикасается! Душа откликается на каждую ноту! 🙏

Exceptional. This brought back exquisite memories of my days playing 40 years ago. Best years of my life. Now I have lived long enough to go to concerts to hear my grandson play the cello. God is good.
Not only that they play excellent, but its like the most attractive orchestra ever.

He plays like a man making love to a beautiful instrument. Not just playing notes or making music. But feeling passion and embracing the experience.
Beth Cooley Well, he has said playing cello and making love is the same thing to him, no difference.
He says his cello and him have had the longest relationship

Hauntingly beautiful, Hauser is at one with his instrument and the best cellist I've ever heard and I'm 60 now. This is better than the orchestral version, a performance for the history books. It's become clear to me that Western culture will survive in the east. Thank you, never stop playing.
Agree. It's dead in the West, thriving in E. Europe and E. Asia. Witness S. Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. Even the "Communist Bloc" countries of Asia are bringing more to Western Classical music than W. Europe and the Americas. Shame on us.

Hauser's interpretation but written by Samuel Barber.

Hauser reaches into his very soul to bring forth the most melodious cello music ever just watch his face as he plays every note.
The saddest classical music composed by a 26 years old American prodigy Samuel Barber while studying in Italy in 1936. I always wondered, was he homesick, depressed or simply missing his love? my hearth and soul are melting... thank you Stephan for your gift of sharing your beautiful music with the world !
Good morning Eva 🌄, how are you doing?
This...this is perfection. What inspires a human being to make such music as this?
Philani Gumede That’s amazing...such a lovely thing to have been present for... Yes, you’ll remember it lifelong. A memory to treasure :)
Your so right. Well written.
It is birth and death
Hauser utterly CRUSHES it, I doubt I will ever hear a more perfect, and skillfully played version of this. He is SEEING the music as he plays it, total focus on every note. Masterful.
"Fuck! They got Elias!"
I could not agree more!
The only song I know that can sympathize with human suffering throughout history, like what we are all enduring now. Bless you all.
It's not a song.
Have a listen to symphony of sorrowful songs
Feisenbach but oh how it sings!
The ending scenes of “Gallipoli” broke my heart and this was the perfect underscore for the horrors of war.
wrong Adagio..the Gallipoli Adagio is the one by Albinoni. This one by Barber was used in Platoon. BTW..Hauser also has a video playing Adagio by Albinoni. Fantastic music.

You know when the music goes through and through, flooding you and you can't do anything but cry? Thank you for the happy tears on a lovely Monday morning. One can feel your heart and soul with every touch of the cello. . . .
He beautifully gives expression to our global sadness in these extraordinary times!
When one's soul is devoid of peace, this music triggers emotions buried deep within reminding you of they joy and happiness you once had, but now is gone . . . forever.
INCREDIBLE.... This silent music plays with my heart... From Spain, Quarantine ......
Stay safe!
Barber cupped grief in his hands and offered us this as solace. It's such a feeling piece, so painful, but so meaningful.
Hauser
Playing Barber, you would think he was in a room with Angels and they were all around him and as he played the Angels were brought to tears having them running down their cheeks. They were not sad, but the way he plays his cello 🎻 it brought them to tears.
This performance was great, it to brought me to tears.
Well Hauser, you did it again. You didn’t disappoint me as always.
Love ❤️ Love ❤️ Love ❤️ Love ❤️
