Unfortunately Tiesto got this idea from William Orbit. Orbit already explored this idea in '95. Literally the first track on Orbit's album-- Pieces in a Modern Style-- is.... Adagio For Strings.
Ferry Corsten did a remix of William Orbit version which i think remains the definitive dance mix of Adagio for Strings … Tiestos version is significantly less impressive
Best mix I heard of it was on Paul Oakenfolds Perecto album in 95...that was the William Orbit version. Never bettered, especially not by thr charlatan Tiesto
