I like LMNT. I tried it because of your channel and for me it's a great addition. I ordered the sample pack first and loved it. I then ordered a big order of four big boxes. My favorites right now are the watermelon and the orange. During summer those are good and chilling and refreshing after a workout. Now with winter coming I will likely use up the others I got that are more savory flavored. One thing that LMNT helps with is after I drink a full bottle I am not hungry or needing something to taste. Its good that it satisfies any need for a craving.

I guess I'm "lucky." I don't have much family left. After my parents passed away I ended up moving away so don't have any family nearby for big family dinners. Two of my siblings are also gone now as well, so it's kind of just me. I have some Keto recipes I may use to make myself some type of meal but will likely just have a Factor meal because they are tasty and satisfying. Prior to the loss of so many members of my immediate family it was really difficult. I think I was on a "diet" almost every holiday for the past 20 years. It was always tough for me. I think your ideas are very doable and would work for everyone. Thanks for your content, it is always great!

That dog!!!!! Love it! I decided to have a sliver of cake and some Hagen Daz ice cream at my grandson's birthday party this year. I had been ketovore for almost 2 years. It wrecked everything. It has taken me almost 6 weeks to regain control. I was prediabetic before keto. It took a looooooong time (even after going carnivore-when I felt the best) for me at 65-67yr to lose 40 pounds. I regained 10 when I went back to keto after I was stalled for months. I completely forgot about intermittent fasting so that I was eating mostly cheese or chicharrones late at night-almost every night. I have painfully restarted intermittent fasting. It gets easier each day but I still have a problem with sweet cravings after eating. I never truly lost that but I stayed totally away from fat bombs and sugar alcohols when I first started keto because it became my downfall when I tried keto before.

One thing I always do is have an Atkins Bar that I really like in my purse, so if I am out anywhere and get hungry I can have that and not be tempted to get something else. It's also helped when I've met friends for coffee and they get a muffin etc that I can pull out something also and be satisfied. Thanks for all the tips!

This is wonderful and I realized how much of this I already did instinctually. I only add one final twist: I take a moment to reflect on just how much of my nostalgia is connected to the people I am with. I try to transfer the warm fuzzy feeling I get from food to the laughter, the talking, hugging and general good feeling sharing this time with those I love. This has been tremendously therapeutic. It gives me a focus other than food.

You both are lucky. Anytime I try to offer a low card side or dessert to the family table I'm made to feel like a pariah. Everyone quits their diets at the holidays and I'm made to feel bad for trying to maintain that progress on food holidays. Even though everyone could try it, they refuse to , so I end up the only one trying my dishes and bringing it back home. Somehow it doesn't' taste as good anymore.
One year, I secretly made keto versions of all the carby side dishes for Thanksgiving, and brought them in a cooler. When everyone else filled their plates from the tables, I excused myself to the kitchen after getting some turkey and I filled the rest my plate from my stash. No one knew my food was different. No one shamed me and My dinner and dessert was delicious and guilt free.

THANK YOU! This reminds me of when I quit smoking years ago. I wrapped a pack in aluminum foil and stuck them in the freezer. Then I wrote myself a note and hung it on the freezer for ever how much time I needed it. It said, I can have you anytime I want you but I don't need you then I wrote all the reason I didn't need cigarettes. It did wonders, giving myself permission to have one but read why I didn't need them. That was like 20+ years ago. I do not look back and miss those cigarettes like one day I'll look back and not miss carbs. Tonight I am going to sit down and write myself a letter of why I don't want or need carbs in my life.

This is great advice, ladies, as I have made the mistakes you describe and ended up off keto for months. Gained back almost all the weight I lost. So I will try this. One other strategy that helps me is to take keto foods with me when I know I'll be at a gathering where others will eat things that might tempt me. Example: today I took a keto fat bomb when meeting friends for coffee. Everyone else bought a pastry, but I had a snack with me so I felt fine. I love your channel and your approach!

I’m in Canada, so I literally just hosted Thanksgiving dinner here two days ago. I made the turkey as well as keto gravy, keto sausage/cornbread stuffing, keto pumpkin bread, and a keto Brussels sprouts side. Also made a keto dessert. My mom and sisters brought non-keto side dishes and desserts, but I wasn’t even tempted to try any of it. Mind you, I still ate way too much overall, but my consumption was heavily mitigated by it being keto-friendly food only. My point is, even if you aren’t hosting, you can bring keto substitutes for the dishes you know you’ll be most tempted by, I think that’s a better alternative than eating in advance at McDonald’s (if you’re willing to do some cooking or baking, that is)… if you know someone is insisting on bringing a carbelicious dish to a gathering you are going to, you can still bring the keto alternative and see if they like it as much or more, they may be happily surprised by the discovery, and who knows you might even change someone’s mind about keto! If you don’t have the time or inclination though, by all means eat something first before you go… 😏

I followed this advice yesterday (Thanksgiving) and it worked out so great for me! I have never been able to maintain doing keto over the holidays and in the past this would be the period I would gain back 20 lbs and feel like I had to start all over. This time before going to my family gathering I ate a snack plate with some delicious cured meats and cheeses I got as a special treat for myself. When I went to dinner I served myself dark meat turkey, greens, a Veggie casserole (this had some small diced potatoes in it but I had a very small serving), green beans, and ham. I completely skipped the mashed potatoes, stuffing, and Mac and cheese, and told myself it I really wanted them after finishing my plate I could get a small serving. But of course by the time I was done I was perfectly satisfied and didn't care at all about having any of those things. I skipped out on dessert, but had a coffee along with everyone instead, and I felt so great. Everyone else was saying how "stuffed" and tired they were but this was first holiday I didn't feel that way at all! I was so comfortable and relaxed and really enjoyed my time with my family. And then when I got home and got in my comfy clothes I curled up on the couch with a serving of a keto pumpkin dessert I had made earlier in the day for myself and it was the perfect way to end my holiday feast for the day. Today, I'm right back to my keto eating and feel like I didn't skip a beat. Thank you SOmuch for your advice and tips. It has made a huge difference for me.

Eating disorders impact so many people. I think your tip could certainly be very beneficial for a lot of people who struggle with temptation. I not only eat first, but I also take easily transportable snacks. The first few times I was embarrassed, but now I have no fear in letting people know that certain foods don't make me feel good. It is such a part of the culture that it is rude to not accept all food provided, but you wouldn't make someone with a peanut allergy eat Peanut Butter. I am glad that after almost two years I can have a "free meal" from time to time and get right back to eating the Keto foods that make me feel the best.

After seeing this video, I had to subscribe. This is wonderful advice...especially since this is my first holiday season on keto. I have another idea that may help someone. I am making my favorite family recipes keto. For example, I love Libby's pumpkin pie. I'm making an almond flour crust and substituting cream for the evaporated milk and sweetener for the sugar. The rest of the ingredients are keto. My mom also makes amazing dressing and I'm making a keto version of her recipe. BTW we had a "happy accident" one Thanksgiving. The oven died as the turkey was coming out and mom was putting the dressing in to bake. My grandma took over (she was a smart lady) by adding more cornbread to thicken the dressing, and then fried it like potato cakes. It is incredible!

Haven't been through the holidays yet since I started Keto, but I'm confident I'll get by because how I felt after my first and only cheat day. I'd gone 12 weeks and decided to reward myself with a frozen pizza that had been languishing in my freezer since just before I started my new regimen. Truthfully, it tasted like the best pizza ever, but the next day I felt awful--not really sick, but lethargic. Now when I want to treat myself, I stick to Keto food, but cheat a little on my intermittent fasting window.

Thank you. I've just started binge watching your channel. Christmas is coming and ive been back on keto for almost 2 months and I need to mentally prepare. My goal is to stay keto for 10 years minimum for a particular health problem. I'll be watching this again the day before Christmas. Great tips. We all need reminding often.
I also, in the past, have told myself I don't want that it tastes discusting and i'd say 8 out of 10 times that helps a lot haha.

This is so good to hear. I have trouble not eating the "thank you gifts" of chocolate and sometime donuts and other biscuits that are given to us at work, (NICU in a hospital). I use to take some home for later thinking It would be better than eating them over a week instead of right now, but that wasn't true. Last night, I knew I wouldn't eat them at work and had to make the decision not to take them home. That was hard, it has always been my reward for taking care of people's babies. So I had my favourite keto desert when I got home from work and thanked the parents who valued me. Was so good.

I usually bring a plate of Pepperoni and Cheese to any party. I also keep some aside in my purse so I can eat enough to satisfy. When at the party I can take a normal size portion from the tray along with everyone else. I might look weird taking 10 pieces off the tray, but I know I have enough for true satisfaction with me.
I always ask first if I can bring it and it always looks good to be a contributor to events. This strategy can be mildly expensive to do. (I usually bring just a regular dinner plate full, so it does't get real expensive). It helps knowing I have my own treats when everyone else is getting party food.
I love your idea of eating first. I think this would make me even more able to avoid all of those tasty temptations.

For Foodies… eating is really emotional. It’s like a food addiction. But you are right, there are good foods… low in carbs and even healthy ones that can fill you up. For me it’s going out to a restaurant … my hubby eats those daggone bread buns. So now I avoid free bread restaurants. Cause I cant make him not take them and I always end up losing that bread battle. Maybe I should tell them to bring it as dessert! 😊 I never eat dessert at a restaurant…. Unless I’m on a cruise.

Doing a drive-thru "gullet" toss is even more strategic, because you're giving yourself a 'fast food treat', so to speak- & the smells & historical memory of drive thru stimuli also helps satiate, right~ brilliant. Mitigating the damage is where it's at, particularly during the holidays/b'days/vacation etc.
BE FULL when you get to the event, that way you can enjoy the people & conversation~ let that be the highlight✨
*I was born on Thanksgiving, so it's a b'day every 4 yrs as well. About 10 yrs ago, I decided our Turkey Day feast was going to be a Curry Day from now on, & this has been hugely successful! Because an (in)authentic "curry feast" includes three different huge piles of meats/seafood- each in it's own sauce/seasonings, PLUS about 30 assorted toppings/sides/add-ins; olives, capers, raisins, coconut, roasted almonds, green onion, red/yellow/orange/green bell peppers etc~ possibilities are endless. Plus, it's a huge spread, it's very colorful, & has a "cornucopia" of flavors & textures~ win Win WIN people!!

I'm so lucky that my sister who lives in another state hosts the holidays. So even if I have a cheat meal while I'm at her house, I'm going home where I have no leftovers to worry about. So I don't have to contend with cheating throughout the entire holiday season. Just 1 meal at Thanksgiving and 1 meal at Christmas. I feel bad for people who ARE the hosts or who live closer to their family so they are constantly tempted.
