@@Fishing4Pleasure and would you know the laws on live bait in benwick ? I can’t seem to find anything about it, I was always on the understanding that you can live bait on the condition it’s caught in the same river , beautiful stretch of water , Chris
Great session Mark three lovely pike . I'm actually on the bank right now lol . Doing a night session and tomorrow. Very very slow here but just great to be back out on the bank again. Missed the whole of last season with a damaged shoulder. Great vid cheers
Lovely conditions 😂, what a great session you’ve had. I had my first dead bait session of the season with circle hooks. For the first time it didn’t pay off land 1 fish from 4 runs. Mostly I’m sure my error. Looking forward to the next upload 👍
Another nice video Mark and lovely pike as well 🐊 Sorry, just a note regarding your last video about circle hooks. From what I’ve read on pike forums ,offset and inline hooks aren’t anything to do with the eye of the hook, it’s whether the hook point is inline or offset to the shank, so they need to be inline to do the job correctly of hooking in the scissors. Offset defeats the whole purpose and can result in pike being gut hooked! I just wouldn’t want others buying offset ones and for that to happen that’s all. Thanks 🎣
Well done,i was out last tuesday it was the same!! horrible... i was fishing a static smelt 30 min nothing, switched to a sardean head off pike took it 5min later....
Fantastic fishing Mark Its amazing how many runs you get after moving the bait.I do it every half hour or so really pleased you caught 3 pike they just wanted a bit more weight on KTF
Cracking video, nice session, are these club tickets or day tickets, what sort of hook holds do you get with circle hooks, tight lines, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
To target the scissors is ridiculous it’s easier for you to unhook but terrible for the pike, all the pressure of 1 hook point in the most delicate part of a pikes mouth doesn’t make sense to me, not to mention circles were never designed for catch and release, I’ve said it before but trebles used properly with proper bite indication are still better for the pike, great videos though in general well done
Exactly "In your opinion". I don't use singles for ease of unhooking! It's never been about ease I've Used trebles for 45+ years been Piking for 50 it's about development, progress, adaptation, presentation and moving the sport on and who knows I may go full circle and end up back where I started. Your assertion that it's terrible for the Pike simply doesn't stack up in the 3 seasons I have been using singles I have not witnessed any mouth damage at all
@@Fishing4Pleasure that’s good there’s been no damage for you so far, it’s not just my opinion to be fair, I don’t think there’s enough evidence to suggest a single or circle would be better or safer than a treble but the danger is spreading the word about singles on TH-cam when new novice anglers will think it’s the norm, a big single to the roof of the mouth could potentially kill a pike, I’m all for moving forward and adapting but sometimes you can’t re-invent the wheel
And sometimes you can't stay in the stone ages! Again I see untold damage to pike I capture from trebles! Ripped lips are the norm on some waters! But don't let that stop your hyperbole regarding my use of single hooks
@@Fishing4Pleasure Just trying to do my bit for the pike like you are I just don’t have the audience to talk about single hooks to, this wasn’t a personal attack on you mark at all I enjoy your videos, I recently tried using a single treble with decent success,
@@pikeypete4637 I didn't take it personally mate, just didn't like the ease of unhooking comment. I'm still experimenting with single hooks and have not reached any conclusions yet! If I see any signs of mouth damage to the fish I'm catching I will be the first to say so. Tight lines 👍👍🎣🎣
Great video, my 8 year old caught his first pike last sat , little jack 7lb and he’s absolutely hooked now ! , amazing channel mark 💪🏻🎣
That is awesome! He'll be hooked for life now 👍🎣

Good effort! A hat trick on a foul day. Well deserved 👏.
Can’t wait to get back to the UK from France to hopefully get into some Esox too.
I thought there was plenty of good Piking in France
I admire your patience which paid off on a foul day.

Yeah I was talking about the eyes rather than the hook itself
No better feeling than when it all works and fish on
you got that right

Always move them every 30 minutes, even back on the same spot can instigate a take 👍🎣

BDAA link in the video Circle hooks take some getting used too but they are rock solid in the scissor when the do take hold
Good day fishing mark shame about the weather mate.
Better than working bud 👍🎣
