Fishing for pleasure
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 26 มิ.ย. 2012
This is going to be my weekly fishing journal warts and all! I may not always catch so you'll get both the highs and lows the catches and the blanks (Hopefully not too many).
Been fishing for 50 years and still get excited everytime I go! Still fish for almost every species swimming.
I'm happy Roach fishing in summer, Tench fishing in June, Carp fishing in spring and autumn , Catfish in the warmer months but my real love is Pike in the winter.

Pike fishing on the Lincolnshire Fens
What a week we've had! Autumn/Winter fishing you are always at the mercy of the weather and with huge amounts of rainfall comes the inevitable floods.
And if your only day off work falls on a nasty day you either sit in the pub or head out in search of fish

Lovely video our mate my husband loves your pikeing journeys it's been a tough time for my husband this week his dad died his dad taught him to fish when he was 6 years old he loved pike fishing we hope your family are well and your nice dog keep doing your fishing trips and you are all ways kind to the fish you caught be happy make the most of live take care your friends
Two lovely Jacks . You worked hard for them . Spot on with the injected oils in that coloured water . And all that crap coming down the river. Well done mark 👍🎣🎣🎣
As long as it stays dry should be ok next week! Mind you with Whittlesey washes flooded I've got a long drive around cutting my fishing time down
@Fishing4Pleasure tell me about it the work traffic around here is mad at the moment. I'm ok for fishing as I live close to the 20ft. And other drains. Hoping to get out next week. This thing called work just gets in the way .lol 😆 🎣🎣🎣
@@grahamrobinson6455 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 It does tend to cut into the week
My local river was like this Thursday..banks flooded (only rained for less than a day)...the undercurrent was bouncing a 30z lead and half a mackerel along to the bottom and into the reeds every cast...no slack areas in 3 stretches I tried for pike ..packed up early in the end
Sometimes we just have to admit defeat
2 jacks better than a blank nice video. I had 2 pike Thursday 10lb and 11lb 6oz and today I blanked that's how it goes. Tight lines!!
absolutely! Ups and downs swings and roundabouts
Difficult conditions mark but well done ,my local lake where i pike fish has closed for past 3 weeks as the oxygen levels have crashed and the rivers are all flooded.
cheers mate, hopefully a few dry days on the way to sort them water levels out
I go past you when on school on school run driving coach . I live short distance from 40ft drain never see anyone fishing it.
40ft has had a few problems in recent years with large fish kills due to oxygen crashes but has produced huge fish in the past
nice one mark on a difficult day cant beat a jack
you're not wrong!
2 Jacks is still a result mate 👏
Better than sitting at home 👍🎣
100% buddy. I have a 3 day trip planned on the Fens this coming week. 1st time in over 5 years back to the old stomping grounds 🙏🎣
drains are recovering quickly and should be tip top next week
@Fishing4Pleasure will be on the 20ft and the old Nene so fingers crossed 🤞
The signal crayfish love a dead bait in there. Often the cause of little indications.
Cheers Chris, I was hoping they were just above the sluice
A valiant effort Mark 😎👍 redemption next time 😃👌 thanks for sharing 🍺
Thanks 👍blanks hurt but I actually enjoyed both sessions
@ that’s what it’s all about 😎👍👍
Nice video Mark, I started my campaign up the fens last weekend, it blew a hooley, and it was cold. No fish, but you can't catch from the chair 🥶
Hours under the belt will pay dividends later mate 👍🎣
We had the same here in Ireland rain river 6 feet higher than normal can’t fish them lakes the same try clans weekend hopefully catch few pike con from Ireland.
We've got another south westerly hitting us Wednesday so that's my Thursday trip scuppered on the rivers! Hopefully I'll be able to find a fishable drain. Tight lines Con 👍🎣
@ you too keep safe happy fishing .
LURE IS PURE 🎣
Definitely would have been the winning method on the second day 👍🎣
Storm Bert has us all fcuked up ...🙄😂 I had planned on fishing this weekend but HELL NO !!... 😮🤡 Last week I was out and after landing a10 pounder ,I dropped my phone on the platform, it found the gap and in it went !!,, 😂 I love your vids, unvarnished and individual, ... you go out there and give it ago, like the rest of us... and you even blank like the rest of us !! 😂 I felt that part where ya got soaked, miserable feeling...been there 🙄 Keep goin Mark, "if yer not in you can't win"!! 😎👍🍀🍻
Amazing isn't it! If you drop something it finds the gap 99 times out of a hundred 🤣🎣👍
@@Fishing4Pleasure yeah... the platform I was fishing off had 2 feet of water under it so stripped off to me jocks and went fone-fishin... 😂 (Bear in mind I'm 66y.o. 🤡😬) I eventually got it by dragging it out with my landing net, its sitting in a pot of rice at home in the hopes of drying it so I can access my files, mainly fishin pics and house reno pics I'd love to recover... 🙄 Just as well it was mild that day, if it had been this week that phone would still be there.. 🥶😅 😎👍☘️🍻
Thanks for video , tough going , but then the tough get going lol
tight lines 🎣👍
great effort mark great commitment shame no pike at the end of the sessions ,but that big girls waiting for you mate just a matter of time ,cheers bud stay safe
To be honest both sessions were enjoyable! Sometimes when you blank you are glad to pack up & call it a day but I was gutted both sessions ended 👍🎣
Mark whot size circle hooks do you use
Depends on the size of the bait, but usually a size 1 or 1/0
I don't think I will ever use single circle hooks
That's the great thing about fishing there's so many methods and techniques you don't have to
The most gentle hooksetter i've ever met 🎉
You wouldn't say that if you saw me back in the day using trebles
Great video , great tips , keep them coming , and the fish ,funny how we all have are own ways of hooking up , don’t think the ginger fisherman would agree with you , love to see you two have a one on one conversation ,
with the smaller baits I agree with him
Hi. Appreciate you taking your time to make this video. If you don’t mind me asking, which brand of circles do you like? They only have catfish circles at my local shop. Also, iwhat sort of size hooks would you adapt for certain size baits? Cheers
For the smaller baits 3 inches or smaller I use Owner light circle in a size 1 and for the larger baits over 3 inches Fladen circle hooks in a size 1/0
@ Thank you sir.
Hi Mark thank you very much for this!! Superb clear and concise explanation 😎👍 this vid will definitely help me massively in connecting runs👌 I think I’ve been doing the whole process too fast in hind sight. Your efforts are very much appreciated in filming this session 👍 great info I can’t wait too put into practice 👍👍 cheers Mate! 🍺
Glad it was helpful!
Blimey, I nearly feel asleep waiting for the first one to take the bait. lol
Amazing on another day the same fish would probably hit the bait at 100mph and I would be winding down instantly
Hi Mark, you have just answered a question for me, why do you get down to the rods when you have a take, I understand now, cheers Mark.
Nice video Mark. Hopefully this will get more people into using them and giving them a go👍🐊
Thank you👍🎣
Nice one Mark, I've found pointing the rod tip at the water and winding firmly down has worked for me but that's with 4 inch and smaller baits. want to try some 6 inch baits this year so will keep what you said about the two runs in mind, cheers.
Hope it helps, Tight lines 🎣👍
Like them circle hooks use them my self miss a few bites but get more den I lose nice to see more people using them con from Ireland 🇮🇪. Keep them good content coming con.
Will do! Tight lines Con 👍🎣
Hi Mark, like yourself, I have used Circle Hooks for 3 years, with no deep hooked fish, biggest fish this season 281/2lb, starting my fens campaign tomorrow on the 20' drain, on the Whittlesea AA, never fished this water before, any tips?? Love the video as usual.
I'd say keep mobile if you can, a lot of water there for them pike
@@Fishing4Pleasure plcked the wrong day to start, it was blowing a hooley, oh well, on to the next session🥶
@@yammer69 Time served 🎣🎣💪💪
@@Fishing4Pleasure Love it🤣
nice video mark some great info into using circle hooks ,cheers bud stay safe
Thanks 👍
Great subject! Cheers Mark
Many thanks!
Middle rod on the paternostered smelt
Hi Mark, unlucky day for you. I had the same last Sunday, lost 4. Better luck next time. Could you please tell me what trace wire you use. TIA
AFW 7 Strand and Drennan Supertrace both in 40lb
Hard luck there had many my self con from Ireland 🇮🇪 😮
That's Pike fishing for you Con 👍🎣
@ had a good day last weekend had too runs on my too rods at once a 10 pound and 16 pound pike nice.
My last two sessions blanked 2 runs and nothing. Good video tight lines anyway mark.
Keeps us going back for more 🤣
What alarms are you using?
TF Gear Mag Runner Ignite
Nice spot mark. And your so right about its not all about catching loads of big fish. Its all about being out amongst nature and chilling out the the fresh air. Catching the odd pike for me is just a bonus. Keep them coming 👍🎣🎣🎣
Absolutely mate and a litter free stretch of river for a change 🎣👍
Unlucky mark it is what it is mate . I had the same two sessions ago. But its better than being at work lol. Keep the video's coming. Your channel is growing fast keep it up 👍🎣🎣🎣
Thanks 👍
unlucky mark just one of them days another it is what it is video no added extras, cheers bud stay safe
Cheers mate, them blanks keep us coming back for more 🤣
Hi mate, like watching your vids 👍Been using circles for 4 years now, started hooking head 1st through the eyes since last year, i also started pointing the rod directly towards the line direction pointng downwards and reeling in fast until hook hold. havent lost a fish yet, even the small ones.
Thanks for that mate I will give the technique a try 👍🎣
It happens
Certainly does 🤣👍🎣
That was very unlucky mark! A great video nonetheless. Very interesting how you were using your watercraft in the first swim, then your move to deeper water and you started getting runs Keep up the great work we all think your channel is brilliant and the new logo looks class! Kind regards, Dave
Cheers Dave, really appreciate it 🎣👍
Smelt 😂
One of those days
We all have them 👍🎣🤣
I fished here last week only managed to get one small jack pike but that was near silver bridge and walked my way fishing a few spots further where you are now past the lock.
The BDAA stretch
Looks a nice stretch. Are there Grayling in there do you know?.
No mate, Trout are present though
Hi where were you fishing mate
Club water, link in the video description
Hi Mark, I've found that the bigger fish tend to come out in the deeper water towards the footbridge and small roach do seem to give the best results. Like you say, there's no real monsters but a few low to mid doubles in places. There was a fish close to 20lb a few seasons ago but not sure if it's still around. Nice to see you fish the Bain, from what I've seen it doesn't tend to see a lot of angling pressure these days.
I've been dabbling there this year had some decent Roach and Chub, considering it's right on my doorstep I really should fish it more often
Love the fact your just happy to be out fishing mark, gone to a water you know doesn't hold big fish... to many youtubers are to bothered about numbers and weights these days
When I go fishing I relax, loose all stress, enjoy nature but then these youngsters appear, all with chest or head cameras, running from spot to spot … I will have spotted several kingfisher birds, hawks, … they will have seen none of that. Fishing is all about the entire experience, having a nice day at the bank or on the water. The name of this channel is correct: fishing for pleasure 🙂 (edit was only for the typing errors I made)
It's all about the fishing for me! Tiny Rudd or 75lb catfish or blank I enjoy it all
@@Fishing4Pleasure That’s the right attitude! Keep doing what you do and enjoy the fishing and being outdoors. I stumbled unto your channel by accident but I like it a lot and therefore I subscribed. I like the content that you share. It is all about the pleasure you find in fishing and I support that 100%. Looking forward to your future adventures
@@dirkvannieuwenhove Thank you
Always nice to try somewhere different!
A change is as good as a rest 👍🎣
A nice jack with lovely markings on the fins.
They were wasn't they 🎣👍
