First playthrough, I went with Karlach. Was just too adorable to not. She needs an epilogue where we kick-ass in Avernus together. My Tav would literally fight through the Hells for her.
One of the reasons I don't encourage Gale to be a god is exactly in here. He offers nothing to his followers, like any other Gods, completely detached from human sufferings and only see them as a game for him. Gale was so far up his ass he didn't even se what he has become, a giant hypocrite. He even uses his powers for karlach, completely disregard everything he stands for as a god of ambition.
Before Patch 5, I'd say becoming the Absolute (and headcanoning her leading the Illithid fleet to kick Zariel's @$$) was the best of Origin Karlach options. But this is so much better, most of the pros, non of the cons. Also cheers for respeccing Karlach as a bard, works perfectly with music playing in her Avernus scene.
Jesus. It’s so unfair. I played a Gale Origin run all in the hope of saving Karlach. I turned into a god but couldn’t save Karlach because of some archaic ruling! I was so pissed. This is so dumb but I 100% shed tears at the line where Gale tells her that she deserves this. I would have never gone down this path for myself but I am happy this ending exists for her.
The only ending where she still gets to be herself and not have to stay in Avernus. I'll never bad mouth Gale again for being a mansplaining wizard. Taters, Karlach.
If she stays in Avernus and Wyll goes with her, they find an infernal forge and schematics for her heart and are ready to reforge it. She's not pact-bound so once the heart is fixed, she can escape Avernus again and be herself (and free).
Technically that scroll of true resurrection gale has would of solve the problem (rules as written in 5E). But that would of mucked up Larian's little plot line for her :P. @@dragonfire5511 Cheating is right, but "canceling death" isn't really a divine power/feat. As far as I'm aware from 3.5 up to 5E. Larian didn't want to populate every map with temples, plus having to carry dead party members back to it would of been tedious. @@MartinToms as long as their portfolio of domains aren't identical it's not really challenge. Many gods have overlap in their portfolio of domains. WOW.. I knew BG3 was expansive, and I loved my playthrough.. but never did I think you could get an ending like THIS. At some point I need to load it up again and do some Origin character playthroughs instead. I wonder what kind of crazy endings you can get with Gale himself, that are different from a TAV playthrough.
Karlach isn't likely to become a goddess of endurance, as other commenters have suggested. She'd be overlapping with Ilmater. Instead, I see her as more likely to become a goddess of a completely uninhabited yet important domain: defiance. Her whole story is about defying the path life has set her on, and resisting the tyranny of Zariel, Gortash, and the Absolute. She endures, yes, but she is not complacent. She rebels and fights back. I see her becoming a very popular goddess amongst the poor and downtrodden, inspiring them to usurp the powers that oppress them. She'd probably have bands of rangers and paladins who would basically act a lot like real life American green berets, training guerilla fighters that would overthrow tyrannical regimes.
Now there's an interesting idea. The only thing I can imagine coming into play is that other deities might not like having a defiance supporting God among themselves and might actually come to kill her one day. (cause, you know, defiance is usually punished by smiting, not fueling divine magic)
A lot of people are saying Karlach's domain would be perserverance, but I think otherwise. What drove her to want to stay and live was a passion for life. In a very Gomez Addams way, Karlach had an unbounded love for the joys of life. She perservered the bad things she suffered *because* she loved the good things in life so much she clung to life, wanting to savour every bit of it she could. Karlach would be a goddess of joy, passion, and exploration. The patron of friends, lovers, travellers and explorers. Patron of people who seize the day, who love the beautiful world they live in and the beautiful people they share it with.
I've not completed bg3 with my character yet but i SO badly want to do this. I started romancing her and when i found there was no way to save her i literally started cry 😭😭 its so unhealthy how much of an effect these characters have on my heart

What about the goddess of Living? Means she gets to keep the Endurance bit everyone suggests, but also appreciating every moment she has, plus the theme of "life in Avernus isn't really life" could apply to people stuck in lives they don't like - they wouldn't be "Living".
I'm I the only one that thought her horn would be fixed? I mean, he said she would be whole and made perfect, well that damn horn bugged me the entire time and they don't even fix it? ARGH!!!!
the change probably isn't instant. she'll probably change her form while adjusting to her new existence since gods are kind of infamous for not having a singular form all of the time.
Very cool! I assume that bedchamber scene was added by Larian through some update? At least I never experienced that during my playthrough so maybe I should boot it up again and see what else they might have added. They probably didn't add the Upper City portion that was cut in Act 3. That was kinda a shame how the first Act was so awesome yet Act 2 and Act 3 felt so short. Maybe a "Definitive" edition might fix that... here's hoping. As I recall the Shadowfell forest in Act 2 was also supposed to be much larger. It's not an easy puzzle, being all of 3 pieces.
I'd say passion would be a good domain for Karlach. Whatever she does, she does it with her whole being, without doubt.
Except then she'd get instantly smitten, probably along with Gale, by the greater deity Sune who actually owns the domain of passion and is on the same level as Mystra. (actually might be higher, since she helped imprison Mystra's killer)
I'd argue Vitality.
Not just keeping through, bht ENJOYING life, even in the face of setbacks.
Something she said mid-game always struck me.
"Every time I get through something bad, I get something good, a little treat to keep me going."
Not, "everytime I do well, I have to get back through another."
She's a positive person. With a joyful mindset.
Enjoyment of life and the strength to see it through.
A small critique, if Karlach was made “perfect” her infernal engine and all its parts should be gone. I get keeping her battle scars, they make her who she is, but not the infernal engine, its vents, and the like. It would have been so easy to just make a modified model without it. No glowing chest, and no ventsz
Gods kinda look like whatever they want to. Those bits are still part of her self image when its JUST happened. I imagine she can alter herself as she sees fit once she has a mind to.
@@BretekV She hates that freaking thing more than anything. It reminds her of Zariel, was a constant source of existential dread, and literally caused her constant pain. I would think she would want it gone so bad she would subconsciously use her godly powers to remove it without even understanding it.
@@someordinarydude9147 the changing of form probably occurs as one settles into whatever their domain may be and learns how to change their form. or it may have nothing to do with domain and is just the new god having to learn how to use their new abilities.
@@someordinarydude9147 We can try to discard our traumas, but somehow they leave their marks. As above, it was a part of her for a very long time; she probably barely remembers being without it. Over time, her form may change, but in the first rush, it might not even occur to her that she COULD change it.
@@ericschram4124 IF I had my arm cut off 10 years ago, but had the ability to gain it back due to magic, I wouldn't hesitate. THe engine literally caused her immense pain physically and psychologically. She would not willingly keep a torture device as a part of her persons.
"If that's the criteria for choosing a domain, you should be the God of wasting valuable loot" is funny as shit. Gale chomping on boots or amulets
This game still holds surprises for me, even after all this time. Well, guess it's time for the tenth playthrouh.
Lol I'm on my 6th but I understand how you got there.
I would name her the goddess of fortitude. For she is one who endured and eventually overcame her pain with courage and determination.
Ilmater already exists in the Faerûn setting.
@@mal2ksc Ilmater is more a god of endurance and compassion in the face of pain and suffering. I see Karlach as more a goddess of courage in the face of pain and suffering. I think that is the difference.
Karlach, Goddess of Freedom, probably. It is what she strived towards.
Everyone saying you can only let her die, become mindflayer, or go to avernus. Noone ever talks about goddess karlach. Would choose this every goddamn time. Just like Gale said, she deserves it
Isn't this only available for Origin Karlach?
@MCSPARTAN501 I believe so, yes. But if playing as origin karlach gets her best ending....then it must be done 😤
God of Ambition, Goddess of Grit.
Looks like someone went Bard-barian!
First playthrough, I went with Karlach. Was just too adorable to not.
She needs an epilogue where we kick-ass in Avernus together. My Tav would literally fight through the Hells for her.
You can do that but it's a cutscene not playable areas
One of the reasons I don't encourage Gale to be a god is exactly in here. He offers nothing to his followers, like any other Gods, completely detached from human sufferings and only see them as a game for him. Gale was so far up his ass he didn't even se what he has become, a giant hypocrite. He even uses his powers for karlach, completely disregard everything he stands for as a god of ambition.
Karlach Goddess of "I'm not dying here, now, like this."
Its sweet Gale didnt forget about their love after he became a god.
So does the player have to romance Gale to get this ending option? Or just high enough approval?
Before Patch 5, I'd say becoming the Absolute (and headcanoning her leading the Illithid fleet to kick Zariel's @$$) was the best of Origin Karlach options. But this is so much better, most of the pros, non of the cons. Also cheers for respeccing Karlach as a bard, works perfectly with music playing in her Avernus scene.
If this is what it takes to save Karlach, it's the only ending that matters.
you can do this with Astarion too if you want him to be spawn, everything is fixed he doesn't have to worry about sunlight
Other gods: damn these guys are level 12.
Karlach, Goddess of Roasted Marshmallow
6:00 Down, down, down by the river.
Jesus. It’s so unfair. I played a Gale Origin run all in the hope of saving Karlach. I turned into a god but couldn’t save Karlach because of some archaic ruling! I was so pissed. At least we agreed to remain lovers… but now knowing what I wanted is actually possible. Well. At least I have this video. I’ll eventually do a Karlach run but idk if I want to go for this again. Man. I just wish there were more ways to save Karlach. Ahh I’m still salty that I couldn’t do this in my Gale run
I love Karlach. Been playing games for 45 years. Karlach is my favorite character ever.
From the hells to the heavens... it ends up being a really interesting and fitting reversal of Zariel's fall
Finally a good ending for her now lets hail
Karlach the goddess of Perseverance, determination and hope.
That and withers also seems to also cast True resurrect (considering he doesn't require the body) when bringing back party members as well.
Withers cheats. No need of resurrection when you can just cancel out the death
@@dragonfire5511 Cheating is right, but "canceling death" isn't really a divine power/feat. As far as I'm aware from 3.5 up to 5E. The reason its done that way in BG3 is purely for simplified game mechanics. Larian didn't want to populate every map with temples, plus having to carry dead party members back to it would of been tedious. So withers was given a true resurrection like effect to simplify things.
@@nikushim6665 since withers is Jergal, doesn't he just strike your name from the scroll of the dead? Id swear one of his rez lines says something like that
@@dragonfire5511 He is, but im going by the actual rules for divine levels abilities and power in D&D. The step up from true resurrect is the divine power of Gift of life.
@@nikushim6665 Oh, fair. I was mostly just kinda joking around and in BG3 semi game logic. However, thank you for letting me know how that actually works. Been meaning to try and actually read some of the rule book.
The two lovers with time bombs in their chests who wanted to live and persevered, their romance is quite fitting.
To be fair, Karlach was always a goddess.. 😂
you know Gale going god of ambition. Hes probably the only god i could find any respect for.
especially since he serves as a symbol for that which most gods don't. sure other gods encourage love, lust, pain, suffering, joy, war, etc but I can't think of one that would be willing to encourage or inspire larger aspirations like godhood or other similarly grand feats
Damn, and she looks amazing too.
this to me is the cannon ending for karlach.
God of the american dream introduces the goddess of the second ammendment :D
Karlach: Goddess of "I didn't hear no bell..."
I like how even you had to skip gale's tons of dialogues at some point xD
This is such a great ending. Probably the best ending she can get
I think she'd be goddess of war, perseverance, joy and love. A godess who grants her followers the strength to fight and persevere through the the hard times and the strength to find and joy and love whenever and wherever they can. To live every moment to the fullest like it could be you your last.
Those are actually domains of 4 existing DnD Gods. Karlach wouldn't survive very long if she challenged 2 greater deities, a deity, and an exarch :D
@@MartinToms as long as their portfolio of domains aren't identical it's not really challenge. Many gods have overlap in their portfolio of domains. It's only when their portfolio are identical that they have to have a throw down cause more than one god can't have identical portfolio's or they start intentionally poaching each others followers.
The "+" in "30+ hours" is doing a lot of work, because I don't get out of Act I in less than 30 hours.
All Karlach has to do is romance Gale and help Gale become a God.
Defiance and Ambition. Two gods rebellion leaders would defiantly pray to.
Now there's an interesting idea. The only thing I can imagine coming into play is that other deities might not like having a defiance supporting God among themselves and might actually come to kill her one day. (cause, you know, defiance is usually punished by smiting, not fueling divine magic)
@@MartinTomsYou gave me one hell of an idea for a campaign
Really wanted to see the response to that crack about wasting loot.
i think her domain could be friendship, as cheesy as that sounds it fits well.
I feel like she could be the goddess of joy and dance. Or optimism! 😊
In my book, Karlach already was a goddess. Who she is at her core is perfect incarnate.
I will say it's better to go down swinging and enjoy what you had if your time was ticking to begin with. The journey will be with you always.
Gale + Karlach I'd ship anytime
Eff anyone who doesn't think God Gale is a happy ending. Sure, Tara isn't too thrilled about it (and apparently if you're not clever about it, Gale can get killed trying to do it), but my Sorceress is very happy in the realm with her lover.
Freedom or party, feel like it's gotta be one of those
What about the goddess of Living?
Means she gets to keep the Endurance bit everyone suggests, but also appreciating every moment she has, plus the theme of "life in Avernus isn't really life" could apply to people stuck in lives they don't like - they wouldn't be "Living".
Karlach is already a Goddess when you meet her first.
KARLA THE GODDES Thats a religion I can see myself pray for !
gith, lich-queen, seething somewhere in the astral plane
Ok, this is the canon ending now :) omfg ...
Im not crying, you are crying...
God of Cuteness Proximity to Owlbears :P
Grit. She’s the goddess of grit.
But yeah, Karlack as the goddess of Perseverance would make a lot of sense (while carrying a "Big Fuck Off" sword). Man, I really loved Karlach. She was just such an awesome character and companion!
Nothing but the best for the Best Girl
Being a goddess looks so good on her
Karlach: Goddess of Cinnamon Rolls. Karlach: Goddess of Golden Retrievers. Karlach: Goddess of Dommy Mommies. Karlach: Goddess of Riding You Till You See Stars
4:34 humble beginnings, bro you were a prodigy to the point the god of magic bed you lol
Karlach: the Goddess of RAGE!
With that first ending for Karlach, that looks like a great idea for an expansion; go down to Avernus and carve out a little slice of home in the middle of the hells while kicking devil ass and finding a cure for Karlach.
This makes me think that’s this is her true ending then . To be with gale and become a goddess
Yeesh, ascended Gale creeps me out. God of Ambition just sounds like a double helping of careless arrogance. I love how it can help Karlach here, though.
Karlach goddess of axes
This sequence makes a lot more sense if you are playing as the dark urge so you can join her in hell.
