Happy New Year! I am sooo glad I found your channel!! I too am a landscape photographer and also do Real Estate photography. I Also started off with the Nikon D3100, love it tp death but, recently I have been doing a lot of events and shooting in very low light, which the D3100 does not like at all. I Have recently purchased the D7200, haven't had the chance to play around with it much but, I am completely satisfied with my purchase and can't wait to push it to its limits! :D
What song is that in the beginning (like in the first 50 seconds) and the one at 3 minutes? Both kinda sounds like music that would be in the video game Life is Strange.
@@wordwarrior2350 I made that decision that is why I shoot the 7100. also I love it. still gives me super sharp images, has a focus motor so I use old d type lenses and it also provides crystal clear and contrast images. I cannot say exactly the % differences between the two but I do believe buffer, frame rate and some other bits and bobs are improved upon. Most import thing i found is find the right glass for what you want to shoot. I have fallen in love my little 35 f1.8 and recommend it to anyone.
"I'm a beginner and hoping d7200 to be my first camera, should I buy it?" Like that man says, the camera is just a tool :-) You can't go far wrong with D7200. For landscapes, or in a studio, D7200 is the best APS-C body ever (dynamic range, resolution). Better than a lot of FF bodies (Yes, I mean you, Canon). The advantages of D7500 and D500 are for action sports, but even then the D7200 is good. D7200 WiFi works, unlike later models such as D5600, D7500, D500, D850, which have Nikon's brain-damaged "SnapBridge". Get qDslrDashboard (you need Nikon WMU app on your phone too, to set WiFi options which are not provided in the camera menus [?!?]). Don't buy full-frame lenses, except for 600mm wildlife lenses - FF lenses will generally perform worse on APS-C than far cheaper lenses designed for APS-C. Lenses you might consider: Macro: Tamron 60mm f/2 (also good for portraits). General: Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 Walkabout: Nikon 18-105 or 18-140 (18-105 smaller, cheaper & a little better at the wide end; 18-140 a little better from about 35mm out, but not much in it). Maybe Nikon 16-80, but it's a bit overpriced unless you buy grey market. Event: Sigma 50-150 f/2.8 OS: if you can find one used, buy it, and hang on to it, it's one of the best lenses ever made for APS-C. Ultra-Wide: Sigma 10-20 or Nikon 10-24 for me. The Nikon is very good at 10-15mm - which is what you buy it for - but by 18mm an 18-105 is better (18-105 is at its best there). OTOH the 10-24 range makes it just about usable as a walkabout lens. I'd start with the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 OS. It's sharp, quite versatile, and fast enough to allow some experimentation (and mistakes!) with depth of field. Non-Nikon lenses are often a bargain 2nd hand, while used Nikon lenses hold their value almost too well to be worth buying. If you're new to this, stick to new or refurbished lenses, or used lenses that come with a guarantee from the store. Use the lens hood. Get a copy of RawDigger when you've learned what the camera controls are doing. Video is fine. Use 1080P30 or 1080P24, with no crop. Video AF is poor, but if you're serious about video, you won't be using AF while shooting.
Hi Henry, i was for 22 yrs a camera salesman. This video is excellent in that you express clearly the camera is only a tool and the fact the person behind the camera is the most important part. Keep up the great work.
I agree.. A more expensive camera doesn't make anyone a better photographer. Very few people point out that fact when making videos.. As far as I'm concerned that was the best line/advice in the video.. The camera is only a tool. Simply owning an expensive hammer doesn't make one a professional carpenter either.
Jeff Hurst correct Jeff - and I really like your carpenter analogy, very apt. I think it’s important to always broadcast this message 👍🏼. Happy new year mate 🍻
Yep I just got rid of a D200 and D100 and honestly wish I would have kept them. They still took great pictures to this day. Video well they didn't have that but they rocked it when it came to photography. I started dabbling with video so I parted ways with them. It is amazing how the photography world is going like the cell phone market. We don't need new cameras every year it is getting really old
@@iyzyz it is a slogan for film era When digital technologies came the photographer role is not too important Modern cameras have perfect options and the only work is to press the shutter button Rest will be done bu modern camera itself. The better camera the better options, the wider dynamic range, the more accurate autofocus, the more accurate exposure meter, the higher iso, the clearer picture and as a result the better quality. Photographer played important role in film century but with digital cameras anybody can get highest quality pictures because everything depends on only camera today
Hi Henry, I’ve just discovered your channel and have to say I am very impressed. I decided to take up photography a year ago and after much deliberation decided on a D7200 as a kit with an 18-140 and am absolutely blown away with the results.
I have the Nikon d7100 and it is a fantastic camera I use it for sports as well and it is just great , my buddy uses the Nikon d7200 and he loves it I think they’re both worth the price
I traded in my Fujifilm Xpro1 for a D7100 body. The Fuji Xpro1 is a great camera but I wasn’t comfortable enough with the menu system. I’m also replacing the light seals on my old Contax RTSII (I love that camera) and I recently bought a Zorki 4K and a lens from 1956!
Just grabbed my D7200 during my Christmas holidays, and enjoyed every minute with it! It's a fantastic responsive little package, a well-rounded camera.
I still believe that the Nikon D7200, is a great compromise if you dont want to pay too much in a camera ! I simply love it ; I had the opportunity to take some pictures last september with a 200-500mm lens, and i have to say, they are splendide! Still a go to in 2019, for sure!
I love my Nikon D7200 that I bought last year. I am a driftingphotographer (motorsport) and when I use my D7200 together with my Sigma 70-200 lens I get really great photos of the cars. Thank you for making this nice video =D Greetings from Sweden!
I upgraded from the D7200 from the 3400 at Christmas. Only been out with it a couple of times and it’s such a great camera to use. Very happy with it. I would also love the inclusion of a live histogram but not a deal breaker. Keep up the good work Henry!
That’s awesome Shaun, really glad you’re enjoying the D7200, hope the enjoyment continues. 👍🏼. I guess with the live histogram, Nikon has to save something for the more expensive models! Thanks a lot for your comment Shaun, and a happy new year to you 🍻
I've been using a D5100 since it came out, and I could do everything I wanted. Some people don't even believe that I take my images with that camera. It's not about gear, it's about how you use them.
Thanks for this video; it was exactly the information I was looking for. Like you, I use the D3100. I'm happy with it but with my photo skills developing, I'm realizing the limitations of the entry level camera. I had my eye on the D7200 as a quality upgrade for a while now; I just needed to hear it from someone who used the same equipment as myself for a good reference point. Thanks for the video. Cheers!
The reason I subscribed to your channel in the first place was because you were using a camera that was accessible to more people than those used on other photography channels, while getting great results. Happy New Year.
I also started with the D3100 and have used it for nearly 10 years now and am planning to pick up a refurb d7200. You take really great landscapes my brutha.
I still have and use the D7000. Just sent it in to Nikon for some work recently. Good as new. I love the D7000. I got it within a couple months of the release and have used it heavily since.
Great video and great pictures. I opted for the D7500, because this has the swivel display. If only 21 megapixels, it has the same good features as the D7200 with slightly better video capabilities. And even if Fullframe is on everyone's lips, the technology alone is not. Have fun with your camera. Greets from Germany
Hi Henry, don't be afraid to print, I'm still shooting D7100 and as long as it's sharp 20"x30" is no issue, do your self a favor and put something big on the wall at home even if you never intend to sell prints. You won't regret it. Cheers.
MASSIVE jump from the D3100 to the D7200, I myself jumped from the D3200 to the D7200 it's amazing. But like you said its only a tool you as a photographer make the photo. Amazing video looking forward to seeing more I've just subscribed. 👍
I used a D3100 for a number of years and it was great to learn on. Got offered a cheap D5200 so that's what I use now, but I'd love a D7200. I'd miss the flip out screen though! I know the D7500 has one but I prefer the D7200 tbh.
I just turned 18 and made my first big purchase. I use a D3100 and honestly I have had so many good memories with it and it will always be my favorite but I’ve gotten to a point where I needed a new perspective and so I bought the D7200. I have put a few bucks every pay check aside to save up for a camera someday and low and behold, a great deal comes by. Thank you for this video, I’m super excited to make memories with it (:
Late to the party here but found this super helpful! I’m currently using a d3100 and have been looking at the d7200 - this has been really helpful. I’d love to move up to the d750 but it’s just so expensive so seriously considering the d7200 to bridge that gap for now - as you say it’s really the pixels I’m after at this stage for me personally. Thanks Henry 😊
Loved this vid, Henry! I own a D5000, D7000, and now a D7200 after wearing out my D7000 with 240,000 shutter actuations. I'm also interested in your L-Bracket model because I'm shooting with Manfrotto tripods too. Keep up the good work! I'll be watching. BTW, while I'm from America, I shot three trips to the northern England area centered in Durham.
I too upgraded from a d3100 to the d7200. Great camera for my budget and I did a lot of research before buying. I wanted a all around camera that could perform and keep up as my photography evolved. Now two years later I'm very glad i chose the d7200.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find a bad camera these days, it's just about what features are important to you. That Manfrotto is a great tripod, as it the ball head apart from you need to keep an eye on that quick release catch. They have a tendency to stick partly down and do not fully engage onto the camera bracket, it feels like it's clipped in but it's not. It's fine as long as you are aware and get into the habit of double checking it when you attach the camera. Happy New Year.
I completely agree, Steve. The features are important to me. Thanks for the heads up on my new ball head, I'll definitely keep an eye out for that. Thanks a lot for leaving a comment, much appreciated.
I just picked up a D7200 with a 18-140mm kit lens a week ago, an upgrade for me and a switch from Pentax K7 that I had for almost 10 years. The Nikon wasn't cheap considering its age, in New Zealand cost me about $1600, but couldn't find anything else that I like for the same price or cheaper, so hopefully made a good decision. It needs to last me a while, I don't buy cameras often.
So far enjoying the camera a lot, photos very sharp, but my mine gripe so far is lack of histogram in live view. Which seems like a very basic thing every camera should have as an option. Very strange they didn't include it, only in picture preview.
@@Valhalla.Studio I got the D7200 for Christmas as well with 18-140mm + video tripod + photo backpack + 64Gb 80mb/s SD card for about 1350$ for my first camera (wanting the d500 but i could not wait any longer so i picked the second best one because it was a very good deal for Romania) ... And yes , Nikon does not have the interface that Canon has but it has the better quality then them ... But i hope they will update their software to be up to date with what people expect and need their photo camera to do so Nikon would not be in an disadvantage in user interface compared to Canon.
after at least 3 years if all will go well for Mirrorless i will get an full frame one that would do 8k 60p / 1080P 480FPS video for the upgrade but if it is not decent pricing/quality (weather sealing requierd) then i will again whait for it because D7200 is plenty enough eaven if the best DX is the D500.
@@Narinjas Sounds like you got a good deal, nice! Yeah I was thinking about the mirrorless as well but for now am still a DSLR fan, will see what the future brings. Nikon D7200 wasn't my first choice either, I really wanted to get Pentax K-1 full frame, but they about double the price here in NZ.
Great video, Henry and love the images! I'm a D7200 shooter as well and am pretty satisfied with it but totally agree with your thoughts on its limitations. I have a tip, though. If you switch to video in live view and cycle through the displays using the "info" button, you'll eventually get one with a live histogram. Then you can check the exposure, switch back to stills, and get the shot. A bit tedious, but slightly better than having to chimp to make sure the histogram is ok.
Hi Brandon thanks so much for your comment and tip mate 👍🏼. I was aware of that, but something told me it was a little too long-winded or something, perhaps I’ll give it another trial run when I’m next out! Thanks again for taking the time to leave a comment mate, much appreciated. Happy new year 🍻
I'm sure that Steve McCurry with a D7200 outshines you with any other, D850, Z6 ... Z7 ... The cameras are always, always current, the photographers make the difference.
Happy New Year! Another great vlog Henry and as a D7200 owner since June I agree with your pros and cons 100%. It was a forced upgrade for me from a D7000 that constantly gave me soft images with the well documented focus issues but I’m chuffed to bits with the D7200! Keep up the great work you do with your channel and I look forward to watching you throughout 2019 😊📷
Happy New Year, Henry! I've had my D7200 for almost 2 years now, and I'm shooting weddings too, but I just love the images it produces and the way it handles. I miss the live view histogram too, however, but it's not a dealbraker. I haven't regretted buying it and I'm sure I'll never sell it. I shoot landscapes with a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8, and this combo is a killer, but I'd like to have a Tokina myself too.
befor i bought the d7200 i was collecting the money for it for 3 years.. watched about 5 million videos about all the settings, how to use a dslr camera, photo editing videos ect.. finally i bought it with the sigma 17-50 and the tokina 11-16 f2.8 dx ii, and now its sitting on my desk. did about 3-4k photos only, took it on 2 week trip, and i still cant make good photos. too much setting, no live aperture view, its heavy, focus problems), already lost the half price of it.. i lost the motivation to shoot photos, i would say where i live there is no good space to shoot.. thinking about sell the set and get a milc for the money i get.. with live aperture and no focus issues..or leave this photography thing behind forever ugh
@@dontknowbetternameatm very honest, hats off to you, rarely people share their negative experience. Mostly people brag themselves. Good info and lesson for many if counted.
Great video....thanks for the feedback/your perspective on the D7200. I'm currently in the process of upgrading from my (rather archaic) D90, which has done me very well over the past 8 years. Alas, it's now difficult to find D7200s out there on the market, as it has been superseded by the D7500. While both have far more functions (bells and whistles) than I need, I've been impressed with what I've read about the 7200. As such, I may have to look into a used body to pick up.....
I still have and use a D7100 and love it. I do also have D810 but the D7100 is staying with me. It's a fantastic camera. Thanks for sharing and happy new year.
I went from D3200 to D7200 and can see a big difference. Daughter now uses the D3200 and is getting some great results with it. I did find though that my stock 18-55 lens just didn’t want to function correctly with the D7200...so I bought the Sigma 17-70...which is pin sharp. You should try it out. With regards to the live histogram, you could compose in movie mode first as the histogram is available there. Once happy, switch back to photo mode and get that shot.
I still use a D7100 as a back up to my D4s. I shoot primarily sports which is absolutely the D7100s weakness (buffer depth) but shooting RAW exclusively, it just takes 2 fast cards and some shutter control and it's a very capable camera. The D7200 even more so.
You make the right point. The equipment is not as important as getting out there and start creating. It is the primary reason I flip between my iPhone 8Plus for video and my D7200 for still photography. As to the D7200 itself, I spent a year researching before I purchased my D7200 in 2017. Since then, I have travelled the world with it and have captured some amazing shots. For me, the D7200 is the right balance between ease of use, image quality and dynamic range. My four lenses: 18-140mm f/3.5-f/5.6 zoom, 78-200mm f/2.8 zoom, a 35mm f/1.8 and a 50mm f/1.8. I have a Yongnao speed light for flash and have a remote trigger and tripod. That's it. The D7200 does things that I used to do with my old F5, but in the digital age, without the cost of film. It has the dual card slots which for any photographer is a deal breaker and is a feature not on the newer D7500 camera. While the D500 is the next logical step up, I am far from making that decision and for how I use it today, the D7200 should last me a very long time. For a sub $1000 (US) DLSR and if you are a Nikon v. Canon user, it's the best camera for the money, and you can do 90% of what you can do with a full frame costing twice as much. If you are a full frame must have and you have the money, then the Nikon D850 is the only way to go...but like I said, it's almost 3x what I paid for my D7200...and I am just not ready to go there. So off I go with my iPhone and my D7200...happy to be shooting landscapes. Thanks Henry, your tips are superb....and happy new year!
I love my D7200, I have used it for 2 years and I shoot birds of prey in flight and it gets the job done well paired with the Nikon 200-500mm f5.6..I thought about going to the D500 and then I thought why? The 7200 is a little slower but like I said it gets the job done well
That's awesome. I do want to try some of that sort of photography this year, something a little different. Perhaps an idea for a future video. Thanks again for the comment - really appreciate it!
@@bassangler73 I say wait for an good full frame Mirrorless instead of the d500 ... Even if it is the best DX if you already got the D7200 (personal second best after D500) ten the next stop is an really good Full Frame but Mirrorless is getting stronger and closer to the DSLR focusing and quality (except the live view there mirrorless beats any DSLR). That is my "crappy" advice to you ;3 .
@@Narinjas I see your point but since I shoot wildlife only I prefer a crop sensor so I can crop my photos without running into noise problems, I will probably upgrade to the D850 because with the push of a button you basically have a D500 and then if you want to shoot landscapes you have the full frame sensor...Mirrorless from what I have experienced is great if you like studio work or street photography but they have a long way to go before they are ready for low light birds in flight photography, and the build quality is questionable at best..too many electronics to be getting cold and hot and then out in the rain and high humidity, they just seem to have a very high failure rate for outdoor use...your advice wasnt crappy, maybe in a few years mirrorless will be the way to go :)
I do have a Nikon 200-500 on a D500 and the focus speed is nothing great. Just ok. My 70-200VR lI and the inexpensive AF-P 70-300vr focus lighting fast, so I don’t think you’d gain much with the D500 and 200-500. The camera is everything everyone says about it and more. I upgraded from my 10 yr old D90 so it was a huge jump.
Thank you Henry for a great review! I am a 7200 shooter, landscapes and wild life birds mainly. I couldn’t agree more with your review spot on in your pros and cons. My next upgrade will be a tripod for sure, looking forward to your next video.
Great video Henry, l the content that makes me want to watch anything to do with photography! I have a 7100 and in my lens arsenal I have the Tokina, a great combo for landscapes, architecture and crazy shots of my wifes horses! Keep up the good work mate, this channels gonna be a blinder...
Oh absolutely it is! I took some nice shots with it of the supermoon wolf moon blood moon eclipse back in January and the supermoon in February. The D7200 is a fantastic camera still in 2019. I also went D3100 to D7200.
I just discovered you Henry and immediately subbed..nice to hear common sense thinking for a change instead of so-called upgrade talk all the time..i had a d3300 and now have a d7100 ...it is videos like yours that keep me from chasing the latest and greatest shiny new things...thanks !
Thanks for the great video! Technology has advanced from year to year. It's truly wonderful that great photographs can now be made by enthusiasts not requiring full frame sensor cameras. I agree wholeheartedly, cameras are only tools. Have a happy New year!
Since 2014, my camera has been the D7200. I agree with your assessment. Mine’s been to Hawaii twice, various places in USA and Canada on two major motorcycle trips, and some portraiture shoots recently. During the pandemic, some tabletop work has been gratifying. My next camera will be a Z6, perhaps at the end of June. All the good things of the D7200 with a bunch of improvements, including many of the deficiencies you mentioned. Thanks.
@@1178594 you won´t have any problems, focuses in dimmer light conditions down to -3EV! Better than the new Z series :) . I bought it November 2015 and the actual shutter count is on 152.000 , no problems by now! Use it on street parades with almost no light, wedding, events, products, portraits, etc... WIth Sigma Art series its almost like FF and sometimes superior. Can see most of my photos at Candombe TV Facebook or #maxilopezca.
What a decent video! It just popped up for me as recommended, probably because I use a D7200 too. It can be seen that you love what you do! The quality of this video is way above than I would expect from the number called subscribers and not because people under some kind of number dont make good videos, its because what you are doing is a huge work, and puting this ammount of effort into something just because you love it makes your video even greater! You clearly dont do this for money yet, youtube dont pay a lot for smaller creators, you do this because you love it and its amazing, and inspiring! Thanks for your work, loved to watch it! Happy New Year! (and sorry if my grammar is painful, im working on it)
Excellent video, Happy New Year. I have recently upgraded from the Nikon D80 to the D7200 and a love the feel and quality. I had the same issue when choosing a camera to upgrade to when it came to the tilting screen. I am also a landscape photographer. It was between the D7500, D500 and D7200 but in the end it came to cost. The D7200 is a fantastic camera. To get over the fixed screen I use an app named Cascable to wirelessly connect which gives full manual control and allows me to compose and expose without getting on my knees lol. Cheers and keep up the good work.
I have the very similar D7100... I agree with the points that you made, except the video, which I have never used... I love my D7100 and I have nothing but praise for the picture quality... I can't see me changing it for a long while yet... Thanks for the video - great inspiration coming from the wonderful Welsh landscape...
Upgraded 3 month ago from D7000 to D800, and bought a Fuji X-T1 now additional. Both are very very good cameras, but i still will recommend the ol´dirty bastard D7000 if someone asks me if he or she should pick it up. The D7X00 is such a great series of cameras. Nice Video!
I have a couple of D7000 bodies and I love them. When you've learned your photography using a totally manual Zenith TTL film camera and come through several Practikas, Olympus OM20 before getting my first Nikon film camera and Bronica ETRS then my first Digital a Nikon D70 , the D7000 is mind blowing. I don't envy younger photographers who've never used film cameras, there's no better way to learn. You very quickly learn from your mistakes. I'll never forget the nerves waiting to get my prints back for your first wedding! Getting a bit long in the tooth to buy a newer Nikon but would love to try out my wonderful Tokina 11-16AT-X on a full frame Nikon!
A good and honest review. The only thing I would say is if your thinking of getting a camera like this in 2019 go for the Nikon D7500, on comparing the two it;s noticeably better in pretty much every aspect (other than having one card slot, but that's not an issue as all you need to do is carry a spare).
As others have commented, don't worry about the camera you own, as your images are epic. And it is clear you understand a major part of your art. I run with a Nikon Df, I bought it preloved, its amazing, and only 16mp. It has a huge dynamic range even in low light. And I would not trade it for the newest Nikon kit. I also use a Leica X typ 113, a crop fixed lens camera, and a beaut for all kinds of photography needs. If you enjoy the output and dynamic range of the 7200, then stick with it and enjoy it.
Absolutely Henry! I have 2 - D7100's , 2 - D7200's, a D750 and a D810. Aside from fashion photography for my fashion design / retail business, I do real estate photography as well as home inspections which I use the 7100's & 7200's for and if they get bumped or broken, I'm not out much! Bought them new and all four have been real horse horses which no problems or issues. For someone starting out I highly recommend them! I do have a few DX lenses for them, but normally use my FX lenses on them. If someone takes their time and learns the limitations of both bodies, you can still get pretty darn good images even with kit lenses. One negative, Nikons are just not as good as my Canons that I solely use for video due to the auto focus, but most know that. Still wise, I personally prefer my Nikons fthongh.
I shoot professionally with a D7200. Fantastic camera, great all-around model. The "upgrade" D7500 didn't offer dual card slots (but did have 4k, which I care nothing about), so I couldn't trust it to use for work where redundancy was a necessity.
I just bought a D7200, been wanting a good multi lens camera for years. Finally I pulled the trigger. The last camera I owned was a film Nikon, I'm so thrilled to get back to snapping photos.
I'm using the D7200 for videos and artwork pictures. The video quality for me is good especially when you set it to flat and high quality, it is very flexible in editing. 1080p also is enough for me right now but i guess if you will want a 4k camera , this is not the one for you. I really love though with this camera is how it gets the details properly especially when I capture my artworks, very high quality/hi res!!
Hey- What lens do you recommend for landscapes with the 7200 ? Im thinking of a used nikon 14 24 f4. Or I noticed you had the Tokina but could not make out exactly what you were using. Im an outdoor/wildlife photographer and besides the cost of camera gear you have the cost of good boots, jackets. hats etc to consider. thanks
Oh man. I wonder why I had not subscribed to your channel before. Watched your video (only this one as of now) and already in love with your content creation. Keep up the good work. 👍
Many many thanks for pointing put this doesn't have a live histogram. You've saved me an expensive regret. Decided this feature is non negotiable for my next camera. Ordered one from Wex. Then looked at reviews. Found yours. Can still return for free. Otherwise may not have realised in time. It'll have to be a d7500 or d500. Love that 'alpine' pic on your site favourites.
I've had my D7200 for just over a year too and I love it. I agree about the lack of live histogram too. I also shoot mainly landscapes but have had great experiences with astrophotography, headshots, street, portraits and action/lifestyle :D
I am a landscape photographer and I was wondering about; is it still worth in 2019. thanks for the video it really helps to hear a fellow landscape photographer's opinion on this. Yes tilt screen is a big prob to me. But not a deal breaker. happy new year and all the best for your photography journey.
Actually I prefer to use a small tablet of even a cell phone for live view as opposed to an articulating screen. It gives you a much larger view. qDSLR is a very cheap app that accomplishes this well with the d7200. You can sit the cam on the ground and stand upright with essentially full control short of optical zoom.
Happy New Year Henry, I agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts on the D7200 !! It’s the operator, not the equipment that creates the images. I have the D7100, had it for years now, also a great camera. Solved the flip screen problem, bought last year a D5500, terrific little, lightweight body, only drawback is, you can only use the newer model lenses, but, no big deal. Have a great 2019 👍🏼✅😊
I've had the d7100 for years and really appreciate the camera. Recently I picked up a d500 in mint shape and that does have a tilting screen that makes life easier but it is a heavier camera so keep that in mind.
Hi Henry, I've had my D7200 for about 6 months now, I fussed about going full frame but I five dx lenses inc. the 35mm and 50mm and I couldn't justify buying more glass, so I went with the D7200, and never regretted it, I Use the D5200 for the shots I have to take from very low down as its got the articulated screen. your landscapes are amazing and makes me wish I could get out to all these lovely national parks. great work keep it up.
Did I understand correctly when he said that using video in 1080p 60fps has a crop factor of 1.3x, is this in addition to the standard crop factor used on APS-C sensors? I'm thinking of picking up a D7200 to use as a webcam?
I have a D7200 for almost 3 years. Love it and can’t see myself upgrading it any time soon. More than enough camera for most people. Also, at 8.00, there was a lovely shot of the tree between the hills back down the path over your shoulder 😁 I just followed you on Instagram. Never would’ve connected that username.

Your videos make me want to buy the D7200 again just for the feel and fun to use.
The D7200 is a great camera. I shot mine for two years before getting my D810. The D7200 is great for all the reasons you noted. I never shot video (still don't) so I can't speak to that. I do print some images and the D7200 did fine printing 12" X 20" images. I didn't print larger than that with it but suspect it would be fine for larger prints also. I do typically print 16 X 20 with my D810. I've thought about selling my D7200 and lenses but honestly, it is a great backup and I like it so much, I've just held on to it. I think your pros and cons were spot on Henry.
I forgot to mention that my video monitor also has a live histogram. It has focus peaking, which on a 7 inch screen makes focusing a manual lens really good, and older Nikon lenses are cheap and very good. I have a 105 made around 1974, I paid 90.00 for it, and it may be my favorite lens. I think landscape photos taken on a tripod it will work very well for.
Happy new year to you all - cheers for the support. Henry.

All d 7200 owners click 👍
d7100 owners can still relate. same camera but not such a powerful processor as 7200.
Sir what is the best setting for sharp pics with kit lens
I'm a beginner and hoping d7200 to be my first camera, should I buy it?
"I'm a beginner and hoping d7200 to be my first camera, should I buy it?"
Like that man says, the camera is just a tool :-)
You can't go far wrong with D7200.
Lenses you might consider:
Macro: Tamron 60mm f/2 (also good for portraits).
General: Sigma 17-50 f/2.8
Walkabout: Nikon 18-105 or 18-140 (18-105 smaller, cheaper & a little better at the wide end; 18-140 a little better from about 35mm out, but not much in it).
Thanks for your comment Paul. Yeah I think it’s a very important message! Cheers for the support mate, happy new year 🍻
Jeff Hurst correct Jeff - and I really like your carpenter analogy, very apt. I think it’s important to always broadcast this message 👍🏼. Happy new year mate 🍻
How can i get d7200 in used.can i.thnx
Yet so many jump on the upgrade wagon , to much
Still using a D600. Don't let the marketing hype get you, you don't need the latest gear to take great pictures.
Still using d90 and im happy with it
Yep I just got rid of a D200 and D100 and honestly wish I would have kept them. They still took great pictures to this day. Video well they didn't have that but they rocked it when it came to photography. I started dabbling with video so I parted ways with them. It is amazing how the photography world is going like the cell phone market. We don't need new cameras every year it is getting really old
The better gear the better picture
@@tamito9298 the better the photographer the better the picture.*
@@iyzyz it is a slogan for film era
When digital technologies came the photographer role is not too important
Modern cameras have perfect options and the only work is to press the shutter button
Rest will be done bu modern camera itself.
The better camera the better options, the wider dynamic range, the more accurate autofocus, the more accurate exposure meter, the higher iso, the clearer picture and as a result the better quality.
Photographer played important role in film century but with digital cameras anybody can get highest quality pictures because everything depends on only camera today
It's so great to see a photography channel on TH-cam. It's also great to see someone using the D7200!

Hi Henry, I’ve just discovered your channel and have to say I am very impressed. I decided to take up photography a year ago and after much deliberation decided on a D7200 as a kit with an 18-140 and am absolutely blown away with the results.
Even the Nikon D7100 is still a good camera in 2019 mate ......And you are spot on about the lack of histogram in live view in the D7200.
I was very surprised at this as well, because even my Pentax K7 has it which is almost 10 years old.
Thanks very much. The it would be wonderful to have the live histogram! Cheers for leaving a comment. :)
I shoot with a D700 and a D7100.
Outstanding cameras that will hold their own for a long time to come.

YES! I've got a D3s and D700.

I still use a D700 for shooting weddings.
Bought a 5,000 click D700 last July. That's a camera (tank).. Love my D7200 too btw.
I use a Nikon D7200 for some years now and it's a fantastic camera. I'm in love with it. No need to upgrade! Thanks for the video. Love it!
Thanks Danielle!!
I love my Nikon D7200 that I bought last year. I am a driftingphotographer (motorsport) and when I use my D7200 together with my Sigma 70-200 lens I get really great photos of the cars.
Thank you for making this nice video =D
Greetings from Sweden!
Dogy i have a question ? Is the nikonn d5600 a good camera for vids . And dus it make nois focus dus your d5100 make focus nois
Thanks for that, that's a big compliment. Happy new year, and cheers for taking the time to leave a comment.
I also started with the D3100 and have used it for nearly 10 years now and am planning to pick up a refurb d7200. You take really great landscapes my brutha.
No brainer , it's a great camera . I do studio work with a D7000 . I've
had photos published with my old D80 !

Hi Henry, don't be afraid to print, I'm still shooting D7100 and as long as it's sharp 20"x30" is no issue, do your self a favor and put something big on the wall at home even if you never intend to sell prints. You won't regret it. Cheers.
Steven Giles thanks Steven. I’m going to start the printing process this week, I’m really excited. Cheers for the comment mate 👍🏼🍻
MASSIVE jump from the D3100 to the D7200, I myself jumped from the D3200 to the D7200 it's amazing. But like you said its only a tool you as a photographer make the photo.
Amazing video looking forward to seeing more I've just subscribed. 👍
I just ordered my D7200 today. I've been using my D3200 for over a year. Cannot wait
I used a D3100 for a number of years and it was great to learn on. Got offered a cheap D5200 so that's what I use now, but I'd love a D7200. I'd miss the flip out screen though! I know the D7500 has one but I prefer the D7200 tbh.
Is the NIKON D90 still good in 2019? YES! because I owned a d90 for 9 years now and still using it up to/until now...
I have a nikon d3200, do you think is still a good deal to buy the d7200? I miss higher ISO on my current one...
I've been waiting for someone to do a review on the d7200 for a long time , Thank you and God Bless your heart .
Rohan Leander thanks for the support 👍🏼
You couldve bought a used d610 slr or d750 if lucky but if you like crop sensors i would understand
Happy new year 🍻
Awesome video, I just bought a D7200 myself and I'm in love with this camera. Thanks for helping us!
Scott Laver Thanks for your support Scott 🍻
Happy New Year, Henry! I've had my D7200 for almost 2 years now, and I'm shooting weddings too, but I just love the images it produces and the way it handles. I miss the live view histogram too, however, but it's not a dealbraker. I haven't regretted buying it and I'm sure I'll never sell it. I shoot landscapes with a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8, and this combo is a killer, but I'd like to have a Tokina myself too.
befor i bought the d7200 i was collecting the money for it for 3 years.. watched about 5 million videos about all the settings, how to use a dslr camera, photo editing videos ect.. finally i bought it with the sigma 17-50 and the tokina 11-16 f2.8 dx ii, and now its sitting on my desk. did about 3-4k photos only, took it on 2 week trip, and i still cant make good photos. too much setting, no live aperture view, its heavy, focus problems), already lost the half price of it.. i lost the motivation to shoot photos, i would say where i live there is no good space to shoot.. thinking about sell the set and get a milc for the money i get.. with live aperture and no focus issues..or leave this photography thing behind forever ugh
iv bought and used them all ultra wides .. never found a perfect match .. this camera records ultra fine detail ..but the ultra wide lenses hmmmmmm
Henry, great video :-) I too made the jump from the D3200 to the D7200, and was blown away by the difference! Keep up the good work, dude :-)
Love that you’ve just edited the title, all the info is extremely relevant no matter the year
I still have the nikon d7100 and it still does a amazing job with what I do.

Even D7100 is the best camera in 2019.I'm using it for last 2 years and enjoying every click ^_^

Oh absolutely it is! I took some nice shots with it of the supermoon wolf moon blood moon eclipse back in January and the supermoon in February. The D7200 is a fantastic camera still in 2019. I also went D3100 to D7200.
Considering the D7200 due to budget limitations. Glad to know you like it! I've been functioning with a D80 and it's time to upgrade!

Thanks.
Going to buy D7200 with in 2 day !!! for wedding photography as backup camera !
Me also😍
Dude, please let me know about the performace of the autofocus system in low light situations. I want to buy the same camera!
I shoot weddings with a D700 and a D7100 with excellent results. Bravo on your choice of a backup camera.👍
Nice Video!
It is one of the most beautiful reviews of a camera that I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing it
I have a couple of D7000 bodies and I love them.
Another landscape photographer that shoots with a DX camera! I think we are a rare breed around TH-cam
Great video. I'm shooting with the D3300 and hoping to get either D7200, D7500, or D750.
A good and honest review. The only thing I would say is if your thinking of getting a camera like this in 2019 go for the Nikon D7500, on comparing the two it;s noticeably better in pretty much every aspect (other than having one card slot, but that's not an issue as all you need to do is carry a spare).
Thanks Henry! Today (Nov 30, 2024) bought a mint quality second hand 24-70 f/2.8 G lens; it performs perfect on my D7200!
Funny to see you have the exact same gear as me. Lens, camera, tripod, filter and even the backpack!
Michiel1972 that’s very strange! Hope you’re happy with all your gear. Thanks for watching mate - hope you enjoyed the video. Happy new year 👍🏼🍻
Many many thanks for pointing put this doesn't have a live histogram.
My Nikon is as old as me and is perfect in 2019. Taken many great wildlife shots with it recently :)
I've had my D7200 for just over a year too and I love it. I agree about the lack of live histogram too. I also shoot mainly landscapes but have had great experiences with astrophotography, headshots, street, portraits and action/lifestyle :D
Very nice video Henry, very nice indeed! Thank you! And I like your pictures.
Thank you very much John. Glad you’re enjoying the camera 👍🏼. I’m prioritising glass this year 🍻
I love the D7200. The fence with a ladder seems interesting in 1:26
Hi Jeffrey, the fence with a ladder is called a style,it so walker's can go from field to field, but cattle and sheep can't.
Also, at 8.00, there was a lovely shot of the tree between the hills back down the path over your shoulder 😁
I just followed you on Instagram. Never would’ve connected that username.
Your videos make me want to buy the D7200 again just for the feel and fun to use.
I bought Nikon D7200 over D3100 in August 2018 and I'm more than satisfied with it. Keep up your hard work.
Ah the same route as myself. Thanks very much for your comment, really appreciate it.
Hi Henry I also had the D3100 and I have just drought a D7200, keep up with video's mate
Paul Brennan hiya Paul, that’s really interesting we took the same route to upgrade. Thanks a lot for your comment mate, really appreciate it 🍻
Add me as the third guy on this path!
How to check shutter count in this camera?
Hi Henry... You are a great inspiration for me..... I like your landscape photography..... I am also a D7200 guy. Are you in Lockdown?
Loved that camera! Lost mine last year due to the hurricane and haven’t been able to replace it. Loved the clarity setting
I’m still using my D7000!!! Not about the gear. The eye and the passion.
yep, it's still good enough
As a relative newcomer to photography I really enjoyed this video.
