Just installed mine. Came here to make sure I did everything right. By the way, user guide says: “do not install within 5 ft. of cooking appliances to prevent nuisance alarms” :)
@@TomLeeman Was to write the same comment. Kidde state a minimum of 5 ft. But recommend actually 15 ft or more. I set mine as around 20 ft from the natural gas fireplace up from the ground on a small table. If you use a propane tank, it should be low to the ground to the more effective.
Thanks for sharing, I couldn’t figure out how to get the battery to stay in place.😅 I didn’t realize it ‘snapped’ onto the wiring. You saved the day, sir!!! 👍
Do you have a gas furnace? If you do, you could do that they’re 50 bucks though each I don’t know if you need to maybe the bedroom where you sleep in the kitchen if you have a gas stove
It was plugged into wall outlet when this screen glitch occured. I own two of these detectors & have switched them from each other's location outlet but just the one unit had this problem.
People: better read the included instructions than listen this guy to make sure you do the right thing, he can’t even open the battery compartment since he was pushing to the wrong direction. Don’t waste your time like I did
Great informative video! Just got one today because I put in a water heater and want to make sure it's not leaking any gas.
Excellent idea I have a gas stove at my house so that’s the thing I worry about. Good luck. Stay safe and thanks for watching.
People like you make the world easier. Thanks!
Thanks for those kind words I appreciate it
Thank you SO much! Your video helped me resolve how to access the battery. Much appreciated!!
You are welcome
that 216 that appears at the beginning is normal

Yeah, I put mine in a little bit too close

It's a good way to test to see if it works tho
Straight to the point love it
Thanks and have a happy holiday

Glad I could help
I keep getting gas 215 every time I press the test-reset button. What does that mean?
That’s a good question I have to do some research on that one
That's normal. a number above 200 and Gas shows when you press reset.
@@luimobilefixes5279 thanks for that info because he
What does the number 97 mean? I’ve read online that it can mean error but idk if it’s right?
I have to do some research on that one and find out thanks for watching
It's mean low battery. If you look at upside down It's LB low battery
CO is Carbon monoxide. CO2 is carbon dioxide. This instrument detects CO (carbon monoxide).
You are correct, sir
@hardworker1957, The unit he has detects carbon monoxide AND gas leaks.
Will the alarm beep if you unplug it and plug it back in if it didnt detect a gas leak or monoxide?
I’m not quite sure you could try and see just to test it out. I don’t have this one anymore. Good luck thanks for watching.
@@TomLeeman i see
What does this (Lb) means after plugging it up?
low battery is my guess
Do you need to replace this unit very 5 years or will it continue to function properly
That’s a great question I would have to research it a little bit to find out
It says it needs to be replaced every 7 years and it will start beeping letting you know it needs replacement
I installed mine yesterday and it went off in the middle of the night with a 999 reading. Shouldn't be I be dead? Am I dead?
I don’t know I hope that it’s kind of weird might have to take it back and get a different one
Maybe not completely dead ; just feeling like it by being up all night!!!
Have your local power company come over to test for carbon monoxide and or gas. I love in MI and they will come for free to test for them
What if err comes on after batttery is changed.
Check the batteries and make sure that they’re charged. I have a little battery tester that I use.
does it ever stop beeping???
You may have some gas for carbon monoxide above the level that should be
I wish they made these Wifi capable
I’m sure they have one that’s like that
Do I put one in every room or what?
Do you have a gas furnace? If you do, you could do that they’re 50 bucks though each I don’t know if you need to maybe the bedroom where you sleep in the kitchen if you have a gas stove
I just set mine up, it’s just a dot blinking . What does that mean 😮
did you figure out what it means? Mines doing the same thing
What does it mean if the screen has no zero but only a blinking dot?
Good question I’ll have to do some research. You may have to reset it.
Means it's on battery backup, plugging it in will resolve this.

@@coma5553 is the outlet receiving power? Have you tried to put the working alarm where the seemingly faulty one is?
The outlet is fine & I've moved it to another location & installed a new one in it's old location
Can I plug mine in without a battery inside?
I think you need the batteries
Thank you so much Tom! I hope you have a wonderful day!
It will chirp unless you put the battery into it
