The sub sounds better… be upset all you want, doesn’t change the fact that dub is weird. Itd be like watching American cartoons in Spanish, or kdramas in some other language.
Because dubs have a much higher bar to clear compared to their sub-counterparts. You can talk all you want about quality, but all a sub purist needs to say is "subs better" or "dub cringe" and that's that. Combine that with how Dub actors are in a lose-lose situation with their voice being either comfortable but lower/not cute or high like their Japanese counterparts but their voice has been stretched; and since "Funimation/Crunchyroll are bad, therefore all dubs produced by them must be bad by extension" and you have a fan base that would most likely celebrate if Crunchyroll announced they would no longer do dubs tomorrow
Iv watched konosuba season 1 and 2 twice…and both times i watched the dub because of all the clips iv seen of it. I genuinly enjoyed every second of the dub, actual top tier
One of my favorite things is that Kazuma's face looks like he is holding his breath. Dude looks like he is trying to be as silent as possible after leaving his ally to get mauled.
My favorite lines as well as my favorite bit of animation come from the runner birds scene. Aquas fit was animated azingly and Kazuma calling her an idiot as he released an arrow was delivered perfectly.
English VA quality has dramatically improved as dubbing and VA-ing overall is more and more prevalent in these times. I’ve gone back to see some 90s and 00s dubs and I can really tell the quality has changed. Konosuba dub is top tier, but topped tier has to be Kaguya-Sama love is war.
Dubbing during that period was pretty underrated as well. I think most people remember 4Kids dubs which had to be changed to meet certain guidelines for the FCC. You look at Naruto in later episodes, Inuyasha, FMA, Full Metal Panic, and other anime during that time, you will find quality.
I think sub is better like in majority of series but the dub in Konosuba is good and even amplifies the humor at times and I recommend people watch the series in dub if they've watched it in sub first
True... I find sometimes when I go back and watch a sub, I understand slightly more Japanese than I did the last time I watched it and it makes more sense lol. Since sometimes the subs dont' convey everything.

Not to mention directing the same VA, Sally Amaki who voiced Carol Olston in the dub and sub.
I can see why it's a viable option for some. Going for the sub is a no-brainer for me however. I think nothing really beats the Japanese VA's for Konosuba
In Isekai Quartet S2, Aqua runs into Shield Hero and he totally ignores her cries for help. The dub of it is 10x funnier when you realize they share the same VA
gonna be honest, I prefer most dubs over sub, I obviously understand english more than Japanese, but I understand the change in tone in their voice or certain pitches, it just makes it more easier for me to understand verbal and audible cues than if I just listened to it in japanese, also its just a lot funnier imo, also jokes are written towards the english audience when dubbed so yeah its funnier
Whats what makes this anime so great. The voice actors putting thier best efforts into this anime. They are really what makes the anime great. Along with a amazing story too
I watched this anime in the dub since it was so good. After seeing many clips like this from the sub I definitely think the dub VA for aqua did a better job at being aqua than the sub VA. The others are really just on par, dub and sub kazuma literally seem like the same person, and dub megumin and darkness are just as funny and lovable as sub megumin and darkness. The dub cast just did a very good job overall.
