Thank you for putting these analysis videos out there. It's good to have digestible warframe content beyond "here's how I build "X'" when I'm in the middle of a revisit to the game. With all of the changes in both the game with Abyss of Dagath and my approach to the game, Warframe almost feels brand new to me for the first time in the 7-8 years that I've been playing. I'm having a blast thinking of new ways to mod a frame or build a loadout with analysis videos like these and without the bias of an easy copy/paste build.
Rhino had to be powerful. Think about it: Every other Frame uses some sort of Void-Power (or Magic, if you wanna call it that) to summon things, shift to other realms, set stuff ablaze and so on. And Rhino just stomps to bend time. Just fucking raw Musclepower.

i made a build that lets you reinforc up to 45k over guard as a max sadly i cant get it any higher but you basicly use reaper for armor insted of tanker and etarnal war cry you subsoom his 1st skill for war cry and then colect 3 hp orbs if you have around 420 skill str wen using war cry and 2500 armor you hut around 45k over guard
@@adarkwind4712I'm 100% certain they won't nerf it as Rhino Stomp's augment extends his 4th beyond it's decent crowd controlling capabilities. Nerfing this would hurt Rhino's only way (other than the use of arcanes) of sustaining his iron skin as his overguard regain scales off of +4% regained per enemy affected by stomp which when used in a crowd could easily regain all his iron skin lost. This by no means is broken beyond the meta as having his overguard regain be percentage based allows Rhino's tanking capabilities to scale nicely into all lvls of content including lvl cap and overall is just creative design and a good augment that makes stomp all the more relevant to use in his kit.

If there's any warframe that an truly be used from the early game until the late game, it's Rhino. Not only is he obtainable pretty early from Venus, his kit also scales really well until the late game. Plus, he can pretty much do any content even Eidolon hunts. He's probably the true most perfectly designed Warframe in the game.
I'm not sure about the "every content", in Eidolon hunts Rhino is really bad compared to Volt, in spy missions Rhino suck, you can still do it better with Volt because of his speed, ES? Volt win again, i mean, Rhino is decent, but is not good in all the content, is average in some type of missions, decent in others and really bad in a lot of content. But is easy to use and is better than Inaros so i guess he's okay.
Honestly, I feel like someone finally saying how good Rhino can be (and backing it up properly) is a net positive for all Warframe players. No way can anyone seriously say Rhino is a bad frame after watching you explain it all in its entirety and not be trying to put down unfamiliar playstyles out of fear of losing a few pretty numbers. I appreciate your video bringing light to a far too hated on Frame, and I just hope it makes us all better and more diverse players :)
I didn't know he was considered weak. I had lvl 99999 scaling rhino builds throughout most of warframe. Granted stopped playing throughout deimos. Infinite skin scaling based on damage taken, best dmg buff, great cc. I helminthed out his 1 on some builds. He was always an incredible frame.
yeah rhino is an amazing frame if you have common sense, especially nowadays with the stomp augment buff. dont really understand rhino slander when hes basically just revenant but better atm @@xenosayain1506
Rhino has always been the goat. The only problem he’s ever had is his passive is dumb and his 2 should’ve been recastable 8 years ago yet still needs a dumbass augment.

For some details that is quite obscure that i think could use some context behind: 8:12 for this seam through to work perfectly, you need at least 37.5% casting speed, which is one tau yellow, or slot in natural talent/2 non-tau yellows for 50% casting speed, if you are about to do a "3s phase", you can just find a spot which is dense in enemy, and just spam iron skin button, once it is down, you can immediately cast it back, taking 0 dmg, essentially a nezha gate. 9:24 there is actually more: For its cc capability, except profit taker, eidolons, archons and arbi drone'd enemies, everything is susceptible to Rhino Stomp, even things that you think won't get CC'd, will get CC'd, which if you count, are basically anything in the mission we all generally play in. 10:42 For an easier time, you can do a bullet jump into the air, and aim down to the ground, and cast again, this can take away the counting and guarantee a consistent chaining, which is very useful in missions like Interceptions or mobile defense.
FINALLY a youtuber does a video of Nourish Rhino with nourish over his 1 and being strategic with rolling guard to survive if iron skin breaks and reinforced stomp to keep iron skin up. I have been using this build for many months now and it is some of the most fun I've had in scalling content
On your feet, you don't get higher iron skin unless you absorb enough damage. You just keep healing it back to 100% with reinforced stomp. When Iron Skin breaks you use Rolling Guard, figure out if you want to cast now or position yourself to absorb good damage to convert to iron skin hp @@sousanoo4056
@@sousanoo4056 you can get 308 str with growing power with little downsides: umbral intensity, transient fortitude, augur secrets, growing power aura and molt augmented.
I think the only other thing I would have liked to see was a base build in this video to show what you were playing with in some of your showcased gameplay. Other than that, this was a very nice and enlightening video that did Rhino justice. Thank you for your content and giving recognition to the others that helped you. Revenant vs Rhino is like Immovable Object vs Unstoppable Force. Revenant is basically infinite tanking because he can much easier build up Mesmer and keep Mesmer by managing it efficiently, once you run out of stacks, just run away and recast. While he does have damage with Reave and Danse Macabre, it's not anything special. Rhino is Unstoppable Object for obvious reasons. Iron Skin means he never dies, Roar means everything else dies, and with a proper build he can subsume anything he wants onto himself. Revenant has much higher Ease of Use and much lower mod/arcane requirements for a good endgame build, however Rhino scales much higher and is (imo at least) much better because of it. Even if I'd definitely recommend Revenant over Rhino to newer players.
Revenant scales better then rhino for the simple facts that he can ignore damage dealt to him regardless of amount and the reave ability that you said is mid is actually a level cap 1shot
@@nicolasbarbosa8270 imma show you the reave rhino build rn and make reave from a mid ability (which is true tbh, you might as well boom and zoom) to an actually capable 2 shot (1 shot with mousework) nuke for eximus with full overguard HP and anything with 0 viral till level cap, 407 str or above. with 10 stack viral, you can, in fact, 3 shot a level cap demo, with reave rhino at >407% strength.
Rhino was my most played frame for like 2000 hours years ago then wisp came out ands quickly passed him, maybe it's time to put the king... back on top.

Yeah his stomp is super underated cause it can affected eximus overgaurd and liches/sisters one important thing to note though is that some more important enemies such as an acolyte have diminishing returns when you cc them multiple times so the duration of the stomp slow gets cut in half after the first one
Rhino is the frame that made me want to play this game, i mistakingly thought that the helminth alowed you to slap any ability you want and i wanted to have frost orb, embers 4 and boi, even though i was wrong about it, i never regret farming him. im getting other frames p but i always feel great playing him, is just natural. im in the need for a good sp build but boi with it as i have him, it dosent matter even built badly you just get out there and slap stuff in the face
As a Rhino main, this brings joy to my Iron-coated heart Not a lotta people think about it but Rhino's actually really versatile and just an all-around strong frame. A little irking to me that people just delegate him to "Oh he's just for early game".

Rhino walked so Revenant could run. As a day 1 Revenant main, I'll hold that fact loud and proud. Edit : If they could make Rhinos Overguard work like Styanaxs Overguard (which can't be nullifed or Silenced), Rhino would legitimately be unstoppable.
LMFAO. That would be great. Still wouldn't make him unstoppable tho because most of the time you lose iron skin by either not paying attention or falling off the cliff. You can instant lock down violence before she does anything w/ operator and one shot her with your weapons so she isn't that great of an issue. Nullifier bubbles are massive and there's plenty of ways to pop them quickly. He still wouldn't be xaku. She and rev are def the most broken imo. Rev > Rhino because his mesmera skin is way more braindead, he an almost permanent small scale cc (kind of like rhino) that needs to be refreshed WAY LESS. This small cc also functions as a debuffer for your 3 if you want to kill ppl w/ the frame. 4 is useless but just subsume it. He basically has better + easier to use tanking, easier and arguably better to use consistent cc, and the potential to kill things as a frame that rhino doesn't have. Rhino does have a superior damage buffing ability, but a lot of times if your weapon is strong enough it'll handle that fine.

One press of a Rhino stomp and you just make enthrall completely useless, with whole tileset of enemies doing nothing agaiinst you, I don't even mention range builds yet, 59m stomp flying into your squad lmao. Yes magus lockdown is a thing, if enemies aren't around to ruin the tether, you might as well cc them beforehand to prevent mistake and accidents. Trying to compare with Rhino's CC is a mistake, my guy, argubly a more consistent cc lmao, try to cc eximus, and lock the whole tileset down first. tanking wise, he is easier to use which is a plus, instant result which is great, but max potential wise, he cannot reach rhino levels of iron skin scaling absurdity due to flat line scaling, and it is not even close imo, even at level cap, one good skin charge is just miles ahead of Revenant in undead capability that is pretty much unreal to witness. I am once a Revenant main, and I still say that. buff wise, yes, but it makes rhino a whole lot of leeways in its modding potential. Plus, Reave Rhino is a thing. want to have oneshot at command with 0 viral, and not just a few fodders with high amounts of energy cost? 407 str rhino. Reave simply sucks against eximus which is the plain hard truth, oneshotting fodders ain't new, your meta boombooms do that at 10x speed... Rhino is the only one that can fix that, you can achieve a twoshot against it, "oneshot" with some mousework, essentially doing what revenant wishes to do. Revenant can take roar, why I cannot take reave and make better use of it, doing what revenant wish he could do? You had to remember that revenant, before buffs, got cucked insanely hard by eximus update, his mesmer skin buff is his only saving grace.
My set up is a nourish replacling his 1. 308 str with support of 2 archorn shards for strength. Prime flow and the new energy nexus which gives me infinite energy with nourish. With molt augmented maxed my roar gives 184%. I dont die and I mow everything down with a torid or occucor

Mesmer Skin is better than Iron Skin for a few reasons 1. Mesmer Skin scales higher, infinitely higher. No matter what the damage dealt is, it can only ever remove 1 stack of Mesmer Skin. Revenant is the ENDURANCE focused tank for this reason. 2. Mesmer Skin grants a hidden immortality passive. While Mesmer Skin is active, you CANNOT drop below 2 hp BY ANY MEANS. This means even a toxin proc that bypassed Mesmer Skin AND your Shields is unable to kill you. 3. Mesmer Skin takes FAR LESS setup to use. Simply press 2 and carry on. Iron Skin requires you to buff your armor up to the moon, typically involving a Helminth ability. This means Mesmer Skin is simply a better ability than Iron Skin (which is still a WAY better ability than Warding Halo...idk how Nezha is considered by the community as a whole as a better tank than Rhino). Furthermore, Revenant, as a frame, has 3 other MASSIVE advantages over Rhino. 1. Revenant is NOT MAD (Multiple Ability Score Dependent). Rhino wants high Range, Duration, AND Strength. Revenant wants at least 60% Duration and Strength. This makes modding him significantly simpler and provides many more flex spots. 2. Revenant has a SPECIFIC break point for his primary stat (250% Strength), while Rhino simply wants as much as you can fit while also building for other stats. This, again, makes modding him MUCH simpler than modding Rhino. 3. Due to Roar being a faction damage bonus, the size of the buff is largely irrelevant as it is often adding a new multiplier or boosting the hardest multiplier to obtain a boost to AND it gets double dipped on damage over time effects. This means the fact that the helminth version of Roar is diminished, is completely irrelevant, even at level cap. (side note: Xata's Whisper is in contention with Roar for best buff, Eclipse is too inconsistent to compete with them, but due to the unique ways they multiply our weapon damage, they both have a claim for top spot, I give a slight edge to Xata's as it double dips other multipliers, such as Devouring Attrition on incarnon weapons, headshot multipliers, faction damage bonuses, and elemental mods) I have intentionally not, yet, mentioned that Revenant's Enthrall and Reave have a combo that, at 250% Strength) can 1 shot any enemy that can be affected by Enthrall (except acolytes, but you can just pass through them repeatedly to melt them or shoot them since Enthrall removes their damage attenuation and flat DR). The reason for the Omission until now was simple, I believe thiis synergy is insanely powerful, but, also, believe that Rhino's Stomp and Roar are, while not quite equally, similarly powerful, albeit, more widely applicable due to the HOARD aspect of this hoard shooter. I hope I have adequately explained why Revenant is considered the tankiest frame and shown that, while I agree with the previous statement, Rhino and Revenant have different purposes. Revenant is geared towards endurance while Rhino is your generalist tank. Shines in every mission type, albeit, less brightly than Revenant shines in endurance. This is, simply, a difference of niche vs generalist frame. Much love to any and all who spent the time reading my, ultimately pointless essay on a game I have spent way too much time, energy, and money on. And much love to one of the most GOATed content creators in this incredible community!
rhino is a frame that has been following me for a WHILE now, I still have my oooold fashion from the war within quest, and now I'm at 1k+ hours playing with crazy builds and I kidna forgot about him you convinced me to give him another go!
I'm taking a break from Warframe right now but it's great to see rhino getting some love. He and Volt are two of my oldest and favorite frames to play and earlier this year I managed to get RhinoPrime so I'm pretty happy overall. The only time I don't like using Rhino is when I need to move fast but that's why Volt is my other main.
I'll argue for the "Put his augments into his base kit" camp just because of Ironclad Charge giving me an actual reason to use his 1 instead of it being an instant subsume. Granted, I'm only like MR10 and still need to get to steel path, but I've seen a lot of these videos, have a decent grasp of the current meta and why things get overlooked, and LOVE Rhino. But I think the fact that a character that has so much synergy and so many strengths with this 1 piece of his kit being kinda whatever is weird.

I've taken flak from other players over the years by being pretty much a Rhino main, but he's just SO GOOD pretty much ALL THE TIME. I have every other frame, but Rhino is just so easy to play well that I default to him most of the time, lol.
I can show you here (I saw the stats and I calculated it): what he is using is the Mythicql variation (Doom Rhino build) (he mentioned before), with slight tuning in the process. link for the video: th-cam.com/video/2muOM5FKlp4/w-d-xo.html as from what I know, he opts for a 128 130 145 185 (duration, efficiency, range, strength), Mods: Intensity (if you can afford umbral variant, go with it) Primed Continuity Transient Fortitude Streamline Stretch Primed Flow Rolling Guard Reinforcing Stomp Shards: If i can get this right, he is using 3 red duration shards (possibly 3 red tau duration), 1 strength tau (since I saw 100% roar) and possibly 1 yellow tau/non-tau casting, arcane is molt efficiency and arcane avenger (shown in UI tab) Hope this helps you a ton.

does rhino really need a passive? i dont think rhino needs a passive, but if i would choose a passive for rhino(described as a heavy frame) i would take the passive of atlas(knockdown resist as long as touching floor)

@@aluraderan9124does any frame need passives? It’s not a matter of need, it’s a matter of making something’s gameplay even more fun and interesting. Sadly most passives in warframe are extremely boring and don’t actually accomplish that.

What I really like about rhino is that he somehow represents an era of Warframes. Warframes always have some sort of theme or gimmick and it feels like gimmicks are much more common (which is also cool), meanwhile rhino is just all about buffing what fundamentally need to play the game well.
Iron Shrapnel and Piercing Roar definitely need tune-ups. Refreshing abilities should never cost a mod slot, but you are correct that this isn't a make or break issue. I would offer a rebuttal to that section of the video by saying that Rhino doesn't do well without augments. He needs at least one, but it's up to you which that is. Now we just need a massive glow-up for his elemental, raw damage counterpart: Dragon Boy Chroma.
It's been a minute since I've played so it might have been changed, but Rhino's charge was a great ability... for setup not for damage it was terrible for damage even when building for ability strength and the roar buff it was mainly for a little extra movement or to plow through some guys in your way and knock them down, but with the Ironclad Charge augment it was nasty. Ironclad Charge is a temporary armor buff, but is a separate multiplier on your total armor and then is calculated into iron skin health. The formula for Iron Skin takes into account your total armor when it's cast, even wirh your temporary armor. So it's build for max armor and ability power, Roar, Stomp if you don't want then to move, charge a group of enemies, then pop Iron Skin before Roar and the Ironclad Charge wears off to stack Iron Skin super high. Nothing but end game enemies could really even put a dent in it, unless you got a bad charge setup and didn't hit a lot of enemies. You could go most missions with only needing to apply it 1-2 times if you got a decent setup. Then he's just face tanks just about everything that can also CC enemies if someone goes down for 10-12 second of breathing room to pick anyone up.
While I do like seeing massive amounts of Iron Skin health, imo it's better to just run high strength since Iron Skin will scale with the damage the enemies deal which means Iron Skin will always be enough to survive, heck one of the only times I've died as Rhino is when I was forced out of my frame by a void angel, then forced out again by the red sphere that enemies throw, a nullifier spawned and nullifies my skin then I was hit by an aoe that made fall flat on my face in rapid succesion.
I could be wrong, but I think also when enemies are suspended by stomp that counts as a “lifted” status effect, which counts towards mods/buffs like condition overload and the Galv.Apt. Mods. I couldn’t confirm this via the wiki tho
I prefer Rev because he makes soloing defense/excavation in steel path and steel circuit so much easier. Giving more targets for mobs to shoot at, particularly the Eximus, is really nice.
Or you just stomp with rhino and applies a 97% slow to anything that isn’t lifted , in terms of actual sheer cc it’s a no brainer , thrall aggro draw is cool but
@@RossKyle95Slow is great and all, but you can persistent 180 degree 95% slow, and you'd still die with a Sevagoth on Steel Path Mot if it weren't for shield gating or some sort of consistent shield or health sustain; and that's not even a high bar. Bullets still fly and do dmg; and unlike me the excavator can't dodge. Drawing aggro with rev's mobs lasts longer for less energy, can refresh itself, and still draws fire from anything immune or anything that decides to spawn late. Maybe this is just personal taste, but if we're comparing apples to apples; I prefer Fuji over red delicious(misnomer if there ever was one). And if you'd argue it's apples to oranges; I guess I just prefer oranges in this case. I don't dislike Rhino, but if steel path circuit makes me pick between the two; Rev every time.
@@zXDaishiXz it’s not a gloom comparison as anything not lifted by stomp isn’t affected by gloom but is by stomps slow that’s the thing , there’s a reason it was staple in raid squads back in the day haha it hasn’t changed since , the range on stomp if built for can basically nullify anything getting even close for bullets to be a factor so it really isn’t fair to compare gloom considering that , swings and roundabouts good thing we have choice though eh
@@RossKyle95 I'm only brining gloom up to emphasize the limits of slow; The hard CCs don't ultimately matter because EVERYTHING affects them, they are mostly inconsequential. And I think a raid environment is substantially different than solo circuit, or carrying circuit if everyone else got bad rolls. To which yeah I'd agree, Rhino is better in raid. But to be clear if you're talking about building for crazy range and duration, and just spamming stomp; Yeah it's better CC. But then that's kiting as a CC frame. When comparing with Revenant is obviously a survivability comparison, where the overflow of discussion then is the left over CC. To which I contend that: Multiple 10s of seconds of enemies not shooting an excavator, and possibly refreshing itself, at very little (if any) mod investment, that has much more impact on mobs traditionally immune to CC compared to a slow, and is retroactively effective on mobs spawned after the cast; a Stomp in it's range, duration, or even investment (Assuming while running a build that can easily, without downs, survive an hour at Steel Path Mot as a survivability benchmark) doesn't compare. Unless there is something I'm missing and uninformed on? OR maybe you think I'm making too light of non-eximus mobs? Maybe I'm dumb or overcomplicate, but I just don't see it.
@@zXDaishiXz you are right in elements , my raid comparison was just a note to the longevity and cc aspect of stomp , a survivable build is easily achieved with good range still , his augment on top also negates that issue due to % recovery of iron skin , I just meant the slow affects the eximus and slowed down means slower shooting etc , apples and oranges as both do well just stomp is just such an excellent CC it really is underrated by a lot of folk haha , the fact it also has non line of sight also contributes a lot to it
I prefer revenant for those times i need someone to look at damage and go 'No.' But that is purely because i like givign the whole squad mesmer skin for index, or having an army of meat shields with a mega thrall via mind control to just... keep the party going with minimal interaction from me. I can see why Rhino's gameplay loop is fun. Hell. I ran rhino before I got Oberon (and for some reason I keep coming back to oberon.) He's a good frame that just.... Works. His 1 isn't even THAT terrible. It's just his least good ability and interacts the least with everything else making it the natural choice for helminth.
I've been a Rhino main since I started in 2014 and this video was really mindblowing, I kind of wrote reinforced stomp off but I just gave it a go in an SP void survival and found it really powerful, I subsumed Nourish like in this vid and it was awesome playing a setup for Rhino that involved casting more than 2 abilities every few minutes. I don't really agree that Ironclad Charge is meh, but instead I think both builds focused on IC and Reinforced Stomp have a place depending on what you're trying to do. If all you're trying to do is facetank in non-level cap stuff the Ironclad Charge is never going to be weak, just less versatile in the long run. If anything it just goes to show that you can do a lot with Rhino and there's a lot of room for experimentation with him. On the Revenant stuff, I play a lot of Revenant too but even before this video I never thought Rev was better or worse than Rhino. Rev is good if you want something to turn your brain off generally but having played him there's still times where instances of damage will bypass it for some reason so it's not a total protection from every source of damage like Iron Skin is. Rhino being able to have an unnerfed Roar (and potentially another buffing ability like Nourish, assuming you subsume it) is pretty great also, unlike Rev who can only have one + reave. They are just different frames and have their strengths and weaknesses.
Fun fact about Iron Skin: you can easily get millions of iron skin health even on low level missions if you use it when a Jade Light comes is attacking you. The jade beam charges up in damage exponentially as it hits you, stacking into the millions. Since Iron Skin gives you more health based on the damage you took while casting the ability, you can turn the millions of damage into millions of health.
The deal about Rhino is that his skills are not really gimicks and more the most straightforward game mechanics in a sence. So Rhino is keep relevant and bluuffed every time some aspect of the game is changed to become better. This is the true source of his inability to be power creeped.
in duviri if u get the common 600% ability strength decree u can easy give yourself like 500% damage and ur stomp is just insane, killing hordes of lvl 200 steel path enemies with a single key vauban is more broken in duviri though.
I'm glad to hear that you have corrected and completed your view of Rhino and his abilities. It was the second Prime warframe I worked on to collect the blueprints and then the resources needed. First, because it was an easy-to-understand warframe for a beginner, then because it was more convenient to press two keys to become invulnerable, and more recently because his abilities together with the agument and sacrificial modes (plus appropriate arcane) make him a god who walks among mortals. So it's been (many) years since Rhino Prime completes the advanced set, which also includes: Volt Prime, Titania Prime and of course Excalibur Umbra (Umbra being the next evolutionary step of Prime). These 4 warframes are equal to all others put together, despite uncapped Gara's power and Saryn's toxin clouds.
So how is roar subsume nurfed? As someone who plays roar wisp, you saying I'm playing a nurfed version of roar?! I'mma try and see if I can get his prime. It would take a Chad frame to make me play them, I am very bias towards lady frames. But volt managed to impress me, I'm aiming for his prime too, cos my ship ate him :3 didn't think much of think when I got his base, I found valkyr very comparable and enjoyed her a lot more. Now I'm not so much as a newbie, and yeah roar is kinda dumb. I replaced silence on my wisp, cos I realized I hardly pressed it. Also wisp roaring is pretty funny :3

I haven’t touched Rhino in such a long time. Maybe for a few missions when I’m bored. But I’m so happy he at least got an augment that got buffed! And I’m so happy he has those beautiful Voidshell skins! Also, I’m now realizing that there is so much multiplication and math is needed to min-max this game. The wiki doesn’t help. I hate math.

I wish DE made a new augment for rhino that would give a a multiplication factor that is scalable with strenght which would multiply the damage absorbed into iron skin hp instead of it just beeing 1:1 ratio
Ive mained Rhino prime for my 100 hrs of play. Hes got defense, offense, and cc. Only thing hes missing is a killing ability (which you dont even need) and you can just helminth that.

I can show you here (I saw the stats and I calculated it): what he is using is the Mythicql variation (Doom Rhino build) (he mentioned before), with slight tuning in the process. link for the video: th-cam.com/video/2muOM5FKlp4/w-d-xo.html as from what I know, he opts for a 128 130 145 185 (duration, efficiency, range, strength), Mods: Intensity (if you can afford umbral variant, go with it) Primed Continuity Transient Fortitude Streamline Stretch Primed Flow Rolling Guard Reinforcing Stomp Shards: If i can get this right, he is using 3 red duration shards (possibly 3 red tau duration), 1 strength tau (since I saw 100% roar) and possibly 1 yellow tau/non-tau casting, arcane is molt efficiency and arcane avenger (shown in UI tab) Hope this helps you a ton.

8 months ago I made a Rhino video, showcasing how Rhino was a frame that received little changes and performed quite well year after year, and while this is still true post duviri, I was under the impression that Rhino and his synergies were power crept per say, dismissing Stomp as a 'meh' CC ability. Thank you for putting these analysis videos out there. It's good to have digestible warframe content beyond "here's how I build "X'" when I'm in the middle of a revisit to the game. With all of the changes in both the game with Abyss of Dagath and my approach to the game, Warframe almost feels brand new to me for the first time in the 7-8 years that I've been playing. I'm having a blast thinking of new ways to mod a frame or build a loadout with analysis videos like these and without the bias of an easy copy/paste build.

i made a build that lets you reinforc up to 45k over guard as a max sadly i cant get it any higher but you basicly use reaper for armor insted of tanker and etarnal war cry you subsoom his 1st skill for war cry and then colect 3 hp orbs if you have around 420 skill str wen using war cry and 2500 armor you hut around 45k over guard
@@adarkwind4712I'm 100% certain they won't nerf it as Rhino Stomp's augment extends his 4th beyond it's decent crowd controlling capabilities. Nerfing this would hurt Rhino's only way (other than the use of arcanes) of sustaining his iron skin as his overguard regain scales off of +4% regained per enemy affected by stomp which when used in a crowd could easily regain all his iron skin lost. This by no means is broken beyond the meta as having his overguard regain be percentage based allows Rhino's tanking capabilities to scale nicely into all lvls of content including lvl cap and overall is just creative design and a good augment that makes stomp all the more relevant to use in his kit.

the thing with rhino is that simple abilities can be the most devastating. the simplicity lets it be applied to everything.
If there's any warframe that an truly be used from the early game until the late game, it's Rhino. Not only is he obtainable pretty early from Venus, his kit also scales really well until the late game. Plus, he can pretty much do any content even Eidolon hunts. He's probably the true most perfectly designed Warframe in the game.

I'm not sure about the "every content", in Eidolon hunts Rhino is really bad compared to Volt, in spy missions Rhino suck, you can still do it better with Volt because of his speed, ES? Volt win again, i mean, Rhino is decent, but is not good in all the content, is average in some type of missions, decent in others and really bad in a lot of content. But is easy to use and is better than Inaros so i guess he's okay.

Honestly, I feel like someone finally saying how good Rhino can be (and backing it up properly) is a net positive for all Warframe players. No way can anyone seriously say Rhino is a bad frame after watching you explain it all in its entirety and not be trying to put down unfamiliar playstyles out of fear of losing a few pretty numbers. I appreciate your video bringing light to a far too hated on Frame, and I just hope it makes us all better and more diverse players :)

I didn't know he was considered weak. I had lvl 99999 scaling rhino builds throughout most of warframe. Granted stopped playing throughout deimos. Infinite skin scaling based on damage taken, best dmg buff, great cc. I helminthed out his 1 on some builds. He was always an incredible frame.

Rhino has always been the goat. The only problem he’s ever had is his passive is dumb and his 2 should’ve been recastable 8 years ago yet still needs a dumbass augment.

For some details that is quite obscure that i think could use some context behind:
8:12 for this seam through to work perfectly, you need at least 37.5% casting speed, which is one tau yellow, or slot in natural talent/2 non-tau yellows for 50% casting speed, if you are about to do a "3s phase", you can just find a spot which is dense in enemy, and just spam iron skin button, once it is down, you can immediately cast it back, taking 0 dmg, essentially a nezha gate.
9:24 there is actually more: For its cc capability, except profit taker, eidolons, archons and arbi drone'd enemies, everything is susceptible to Rhino Stomp, even things that you think won't get CC'd, will get CC'd, which if you count, are basically anything in the mission we all generally play in.
10:42 For an easier time, you can do a bullet jump into the air, and aim down to the ground, and cast again, this can take away the counting and guarantee a consistent chaining, which is very useful in missions like Interceptions or mobile defense.
FINALLY a youtuber does a video of Nourish Rhino with nourish over his 1 and being strategic with rolling guard to survive if iron skin breaks and reinforced stomp to keep iron skin up. I have been using this build for many months now and it is some of the most fun I've had in scalling content

On your feet, you don't get higher iron skin unless you absorb enough damage. You just keep healing it back to 100% with reinforced stomp. When Iron Skin breaks you use Rolling Guard, figure out if you want to cast now or position yourself to absorb good damage to convert to iron skin hp

Revenant vs Rhino is like Immovable Object vs Unstoppable Force. Revenant is basically infinite tanking because he can much easier build up Mesmer and keep Mesmer by managing it efficiently, once you run out of stacks, just run away and recast. While he does have damage with Reave and Danse Macabre, it's not anything special. Rhino is Unstoppable Object for obvious reasons. Iron Skin means he never dies, Roar means everything else dies, and with a proper build he can subsume anything he wants onto himself. Revenant has much higher Ease of Use and much lower mod/arcane requirements for a good endgame build, however Rhino scales much higher and is (imo at least) much better because of it. Even if I'd definitely recommend Revenant over Rhino to newer players.
Revenant scales better then rhino for the simple facts that he can ignore damage dealt to him regardless of amount and the reave ability that you said is mid is actually a level cap 1shot

with 10 stack viral, you can, in fact, 3 shot a level cap demo, with reave rhino at >407% strength.

Yeah his stomp is super underated cause it can affected eximus overgaurd and liches/sisters one important thing to note though is that some more important enemies such as an acolyte have diminishing returns when you cc them multiple times so the duration of the stomp slow gets cut in half after the first one

Rhino is the frame that made me want to play this game, i mistakingly thought that the helminth alowed you to slap any ability you want and i wanted to have frost orb, embers 4 and boi, even though i was wrong about it, i never regret farming him. im getting other frames p but i always feel great playing him, is just natural. im in the need for a good sp build but boi with it as i have him, it dosent matter even built badly you just get out there and slap stuff in the face

You can instant lock down violence before she does anything w/ operator and one shot her with your weapons so she isn't that great of an issue. Nullifier bubbles are massive and there's plenty of ways to pop them quickly.

Rev > Rhino because his mesmera skin is way more braindead, he an almost permanent small scale cc (kind of like rhino) that needs to be refreshed WAY LESS. This small cc also functions as a debuffer for your 3 if you want to kill ppl w/ the frame. 4 is useless but just subsume it. He basically has better + easier to use tanking, easier and arguably better to use consistent cc, and the potential to kill things as a frame that rhino doesn't have. Rhino does have a superior damage buffing ability, but a lot of times if your weapon is strong enough it'll handle that fine.

One press of a Rhino stomp and you just make enthrall completely useless, with whole tileset of enemies doing nothing agaiinst you, I don't even mention range builds yet, 59m stomp flying into your squad lmao.
Yes magus lockdown is a thing, if enemies aren't around to ruin the tether, you might as well cc them beforehand to prevent mistake and accidents.
Trying to compare with Rhino's CC is a mistake, my guy, argubly a more consistent cc lmao, try to cc eximus, and lock the whole tileset down first.
tanking wise, he is easier to use which is a plus, instant result which is great, but max potential wise, he cannot reach rhino levels of iron skin scaling absurdity due to flat line scaling, and it is not even close imo, even at level cap, one good skin charge is just miles ahead of Revenant in undead capability that is pretty much unreal to witness.
I am once a Revenant main, and I still say that.

Plus, Reave Rhino is a thing. want to have oneshot at command with 0 viral, and not just a few fodders with high amounts of energy cost? 407 str rhino. Reave simply sucks against eximus which is the plain hard truth, oneshotting fodders ain't new, your meta boombooms do that at 10x speed...
Rhino is the only one that can fix that, you can achieve a twoshot against it, "oneshot" with some mousework, essentially doing what revenant wishes to do.

You had to remember that revenant, before buffs, got cucked insanely hard by eximus update, his mesmer skin buff is his only saving grace.
My set up is a nourish replacling his 1. 308 str with support of 2 archorn shards for strength. Prime flow and the new energy nexus which gives me infinite energy with nourish. With molt augmented maxed my roar gives 184%. I dont die and I mow everything down with a torid or occucor

You can, around level 20 grineer fissures with high amounts of range, you actually delete the whole tileset of enemies, 40-60 for corpus and infested.
Mesmer Skin is better than Iron Skin for a few reasons
1. Mesmer Skin scales higher, infinitely higher. No matter what the damage dealt is, it can only ever remove 1 stack of Mesmer Skin. Revenant is the ENDURANCE focused tank for this reason.
2. Mesmer Skin grants a hidden immortality passive. While Mesmer Skin is active, you CANNOT drop below 2 hp BY ANY MEANS. This means even a toxin proc that bypassed Mesmer Skin AND your Shields is unable to kill you.
3. Mesmer Skin takes FAR LESS setup to use. Simply press 2 and carry on. Iron Skin requires you to buff your armor up to the moon, typically involving a Helminth ability.
This means Mesmer Skin is simply a better ability than Iron Skin (which is still a WAY better ability than Warding Halo...idk how Nezha is considered by the community as a whole as a better tank than Rhino). Furthermore, Revenant, as a frame, has 3 other MASSIVE advantages over Rhino.
1. Revenant is NOT MAD (Multiple Ability Score Dependent). Rhino wants high Range, Duration, AND Strength. Revenant wants at least 60% Duration and Strength. This makes modding him significantly simpler and provides many more flex spots.
2. Revenant has a SPECIFIC break point for his primary stat (250% Strength), while Rhino simply wants as much as you can fit while also building for other stats. This, again, makes modding him MUCH simpler than modding Rhino.
3. Due to Roar being a faction damage bonus, the size of the buff is largely irrelevant as it is often adding a new multiplier or boosting the hardest multiplier to obtain a boost to AND it gets double dipped on damage over time effects. This means the fact that the helminth version of Roar is diminished, is completely irrelevant, even at level cap. (side note: Xata's Whisper is in contention with Roar for best buff, Eclipse is too inconsistent to compete with them, but due to the unique ways they multiply our weapon damage, they both have a claim for top spot, I give a slight edge to Xata's as it double dips other multipliers, such as Devouring Attrition on incarnon weapons, headshot multipliers, faction damage bonuses, and elemental mods)
I have intentionally not, yet, mentioned that Revenant's Enthrall and Reave have a combo that, at 250% Strength) can 1 shot any enemy that can be affected by Enthrall (except acolytes, but you can just pass through them repeatedly to melt them or shoot them since Enthrall removes their damage attenuation and flat DR). The reason for the Omission until now was simple, I believe thiis synergy is insanely powerful, but, also, believe that Rhino's Stomp and Roar are, while not quite equally, similarly powerful, albeit, more widely applicable due to the HOARD aspect of this hoard shooter. I hope I have adequately explained why Revenant is considered the tankiest frame and shown that, while I agree with the previous statement, Rhino and Revenant have different purposes. Revenant is geared towards endurance while Rhino is your generalist tank. Shines in every mission type, albeit, less brightly than Revenant shines in endurance. This is, simply, a difference of niche vs generalist frame.

I'm taking a break from Warframe right now but it's great to see rhino getting some love. He and Volt are two of my oldest and favorite frames to play and earlier this year I managed to get RhinoPrime so I'm pretty happy overall. The only time I don't like using Rhino is when I need to move fast but that's why Volt is my other main.
I'll argue for the "Put his augments into his base kit" camp just because of Ironclad Charge giving me an actual reason to use his 1 instead of it being an instant subsume.
Granted, I'm only like MR10 and still need to get to steel path, but I've seen a lot of these videos, have a decent grasp of the current meta and why things get overlooked, and LOVE Rhino. But I think the fact that a character that has so much synergy and so many strengths with this 1 piece of his kit being kinda whatever is weird.

I love playing Rhino, he's a mainstay for Archons, Index and Exploiter Orb for me. Insane damage paired with good survivability.
I've taken flak from other players over the years by being pretty much a Rhino main, but he's just SO GOOD pretty much ALL THE TIME. I have every other frame, but Rhino is just so easy to play well that I default to him most of the time, lol.

@@aluraderan9124does any frame need passives? It’s not a matter of need, it’s a matter of making something’s gameplay even more fun and interesting. Sadly most passives in warframe are extremely boring and don’t actually accomplish that.

What I really like about rhino is that he somehow represents an era of Warframes. Warframes always have some sort of theme or gimmick and it feels like gimmicks are much more common (which is also cool), meanwhile rhino is just all about buffing what fundamentally need to play the game well.

Iron Shrapnel and Piercing Roar definitely need tune-ups. Refreshing abilities should never cost a mod slot, but you are correct that this isn't a make or break issue.
I would offer a rebuttal to that section of the video by saying that Rhino doesn't do well without augments. He needs at least one, but it's up to you which that is.
Now we just need a massive glow-up for his elemental, raw damage counterpart: Dragon Boy Chroma.
It's been a minute since I've played so it might have been changed, but Rhino's charge was a great ability... for setup not for damage it was terrible for damage even when building for ability strength and the roar buff it was mainly for a little extra movement or to plow through some guys in your way and knock them down, but with the Ironclad Charge augment it was nasty. Ironclad Charge is a temporary armor buff, but is a separate multiplier on your total armor and then is calculated into iron skin health. The formula for Iron Skin takes into account your total armor when it's cast, even wirh your temporary armor. So it's build for max armor and ability power, Roar, Stomp if you don't want then to move, charge a group of enemies, then pop Iron Skin before Roar and the Ironclad Charge wears off to stack Iron Skin super high. Nothing but end game enemies could really even put a dent in it, unless you got a bad charge setup and didn't hit a lot of enemies. You could go most missions with only needing to apply it 1-2 times if you got a decent setup. Then he's just face tanks just about everything that can also CC enemies if someone goes down for 10-12 second of breathing room to pick anyone up.
While I do like seeing massive amounts of Iron Skin health, imo it's better to just run high strength since Iron Skin will scale with the damage the enemies deal which means Iron Skin will always be enough to survive, heck one of the only times I've died as Rhino is when I was forced out of my frame by a void angel, then forced out again by the red sphere that enemies throw, a nullifier spawned and nullifies my skin then I was hit by an aoe that made fall flat on my face in rapid succesion.
I love Rhino. He was my first prime and my most played frame in general.

I could be wrong, but I think also when enemies are suspended by stomp that counts as a “lifted” status effect, which counts towards mods/buffs like condition overload and the Galv.Apt. Mods. I couldn’t confirm this via the wiki tho

I prefer Rev because he makes soloing defense/excavation in steel path and steel circuit so much easier. Giving more targets for mobs to shoot at, particularly the Eximus, is really nice.
Or you just stomp with rhino and applies a 97% slow to anything that isn’t lifted , in terms of actual sheer cc it’s a no brainer , thrall aggro draw is cool but
@@RossKyle95Slow is great and all, but you can persistent 180 degree 95% slow, and you'd still die with a Sevagoth on Steel Path Mot if it weren't for shield gating or some sort of consistent shield or health sustain; and that's not even a high bar. Bullets still fly and do dmg; and unlike me the excavator can't dodge.
Drawing aggro with rev's mobs lasts longer for less energy, can refresh itself, and still draws fire from anything immune or anything that decides to spawn late.
Maybe this is just personal taste, but if we're comparing apples to apples; I prefer Fuji over red delicious(misnomer if there ever was one). And if you'd argue it's apples to oranges; I guess I just prefer oranges in this case.
I don't dislike Rhino, but if steel path circuit makes me pick between the two; Rev every time.
@@zXDaishiXz it’s not a gloom comparison as anything not lifted by stomp isn’t affected by gloom but is by stomps slow that’s the thing , there’s a reason it was staple in raid squads back in the day haha it hasn’t changed since , the range on stomp if built for can basically nullify anything getting even close for bullets to be a factor so it really isn’t fair to compare gloom considering that , swings and roundabouts good thing we have choice though eh
@@RossKyle95 I'm only brining gloom up to emphasize the limits of slow; The hard CCs don't ultimately matter because EVERYTHING affects them, they are mostly inconsequential. And I think a raid environment is substantially different than solo circuit, or carrying circuit if everyone else got bad rolls. To which yeah I'd agree, Rhino is better in raid. But to be clear if you're talking about building for crazy range and duration, and just spamming stomp; Yeah it's better CC. But then that's kiting as a CC frame. When comparing with Revenant is obviously a survivability comparison, where the overflow of discussion then is the left over CC.
To which I contend that: Multiple 10s of seconds of enemies not shooting an excavator, and possibly refreshing itself, at very little (if any) mod investment, that has much more impact on mobs traditionally immune to CC compared to a slow, and is retroactively effective on mobs spawned after the cast; a Stomp in it's range, duration, or even investment (Assuming while running a build that can easily, without downs, survive an hour at Steel Path Mot as a survivability benchmark) doesn't compare.
Unless there is something I'm missing and uninformed on? OR maybe you think I'm making too light of non-eximus mobs?
Maybe I'm dumb or overcomplicate, but I just don't see it.
@@zXDaishiXz you are right in elements , my raid comparison was just a note to the longevity and cc aspect of stomp , a survivable build is easily achieved with good range still , his augment on top also negates that issue due to % recovery of iron skin , I just meant the slow affects the eximus and slowed down means slower shooting etc , apples and oranges as both do well just stomp is just such an excellent CC it really is underrated by a lot of folk haha , the fact it also has non line of sight also contributes a lot to it

I prefer revenant for those times i need someone to look at damage and go 'No.'
But that is purely because i like givign the whole squad mesmer skin for index, or having an army of meat shields with a mega thrall via mind control to just... keep the party going with minimal interaction from me.
I can see why Rhino's gameplay loop is fun. Hell. I ran rhino before I got Oberon (and for some reason I keep coming back to oberon.) He's a good frame that just.... Works. His 1 isn't even THAT terrible. It's just his least good ability and interacts the least with everything else making it the natural choice for helminth.

Garuda can also make use of both roar and nourish considering her passive is 100% roar. She is also the best frame for subsumes.
I just got her prime and OMG she really is constant roar. She does so much damage! And if you play hey right she is death proof.

I've been a Rhino main since I started in 2014 and this video was really mindblowing, I kind of wrote reinforced stomp off but I just gave it a go in an SP void survival and found it really powerful, I subsumed Nourish like in this vid and it was awesome playing a setup for Rhino that involved casting more than 2 abilities every few minutes. I don't really agree that Ironclad Charge is meh, but instead I think both builds focused on IC and Reinforced Stomp have a place depending on what you're trying to do. If all you're trying to do is facetank in non-level cap stuff the Ironclad Charge is never going to be weak, just less versatile in the long run. If anything it just goes to show that you can do a lot with Rhino and there's a lot of room for experimentation with him. On the Revenant stuff, I play a lot of Revenant too but even before this video I never thought Rev was better or worse than Rhino. Rev is good if you want something to turn your brain off generally but having played him there's still times where instances of damage will bypass it for some reason so it's not a total protection from every source of damage like Iron Skin is. Rhino being able to have an unnerfed Roar (and potentially another buffing ability like Nourish, assuming you subsume it) is pretty great also, unlike Rev who can only have one + reave. They are just different frames and have their strengths and weaknesses.

Fun fact about Iron Skin: you can easily get millions of iron skin health even on low level missions if you use it when a Jade Light comes is attacking you. The jade beam charges up in damage exponentially as it hits you, stacking into the millions. Since Iron Skin gives you more health based on the damage you took while casting the ability, you can turn the millions of damage into millions of health.
The deal about Rhino is that his skills are not really gimicks and more the most straightforward game mechanics in a sence. So Rhino is keep relevant and bluuffed every time some aspect of the game is changed to become better. This is the true source of his inability to be power creeped.
in duviri if u get the common 600% ability strength decree u can easy give yourself like 500% damage and ur stomp is just insane, killing hordes of lvl 200 steel path enemies with a single key
vauban is more broken in duviri though.
Great that the faction bonus of Roar isnt mentioned anywhere... But it's nice that Roar gives it

I'm glad to hear that you have corrected and completed your view of Rhino and his abilities.
It was the second Prime warframe I worked on to collect the blueprints and then the resources needed.
First, because it was an easy-to-understand warframe for a beginner, then because it was more convenient to press two keys to become invulnerable, and more recently because his abilities together with the agument and sacrificial modes (plus appropriate arcane) make him a god who walks among mortals.
So it's been (many) years since Rhino Prime completes the advanced set, which also includes: Volt Prime, Titania Prime and of course Excalibur Umbra (Umbra being the next evolutionary step of Prime). These 4 warframes are equal to all others put together, despite uncapped Gara's power and Saryn's toxin clouds.
So how is roar subsume nurfed? As someone who plays roar wisp, you saying I'm playing a nurfed version of roar?!
I'mma try and see if I can get his prime. It would take a Chad frame to make me play them, I am very bias towards lady frames. But volt managed to impress me, I'm aiming for his prime too, cos my ship ate him :3 didn't think much of think when I got his base, I found valkyr very comparable and enjoyed her a lot more. Now I'm not so much as a newbie, and yeah roar is kinda dumb. I replaced silence on my wisp, cos I realized I hardly pressed it. Also wisp roaring is pretty funny :3

Just wondering, when you got to the point about his augments (specifically piercing roar) everything you said was definitely 100% however isn't also a good debuffer as it basically gives you mac stacks of punc. which gives you around 125% cc? (May be wrong ofc.)

I’ve been trying to minmax my builds on my warframes. I’ve started w kullervo since I was having too much fun with him and now he’s pretty busted. I’m doing mesa next but rhino might be my third one.

Me sitting watching this revenant vs rhino tank debate while zephyr is dying laphing with he 2000 shield and the best take no damage button in the game, perfect slot for roar, 150% free crit from here passive, build in grouping, and free self peel with nado with the best damage distribution mechanic in Warframe.
I haven’t touched Rhino in such a long time. Maybe for a few missions when I’m bored. But I’m so happy he at least got an augment that got buffed! And I’m so happy he has those beautiful Voidshell skins! Also, I’m now realizing that there is so much multiplication and math is needed to min-max this game. The wiki doesn’t help. I hate math.

I wish DE made a new augment for rhino that would give a a multiplication factor that is scalable with strenght which would multiply the damage absorbed into iron skin hp instead of it just beeing 1:1 ratio
Ive mained Rhino prime for my 100 hrs of play. Hes got defense, offense, and cc. Only thing hes missing is a killing ability (which you dont even need) and you can just helminth that.
I mean as a guy that’s been playing since 2017 I think any war frame can go to level cap. I don’t like using the same frame every single time I like choosing different frames to enjoy and have a good time with

Shards: If i can get this right, he is using 3 red duration shards (possibly 3 red tau duration), 1 strength tau (since I saw 100% roar) and possibly 1 yellow tau/non-tau casting, arcane is molt efficiency and arcane avenger (shown in UI tab)
