  • Karina writes, “Hello Susan. Wondering if you can share some light. I found out that the only guy I have ever loved, has now had a child and engaged. I feel so empty. Because he used me as a rebound, but the chemistry was so strong. I feel so embarrassed that I held on for all these years. Being 32, single, still living at home and haven’t had a relationship since 2012. How do I overcome this?”

      Man..I wish this was true..He's not only on my pedestal. I know of three who were whining for him to come back at the time when we were FWB. And several of them calling him occasionally (one of them being his ex 10 years ago). What all of us have in common is that we are pretty miserable and immature. Running away from real life. Guess he was our escape, but anyway none of us is able to forget him. So, unfortunately, this is definitely not always true.

      I understand. Yesterday I was thinking to myself what Susan said in other videos: "it's not the person. It's the dream." When the most recent person you wanted your dream with has gone that's hard. But he is only that: the most recent person who failed to live YOUR dream with you. That dream still lives in you. You now have a better understanding of what you want. And there'll be somebody who wants the same thing as you :)

    When you said that the relationship was significant to her but not to him - that hit hard. To think the person that means a lot to you doesn’t care about you is a tough pill to swallow. On my end, I am dating as I work through the heartbreak. The only thing is, I haven’t come across a guy that comes close to my ex. It feels like a disappointment after disappointment. However, I am working hard on being optimistic! The diamond in the rough won’t be so easy to find :) thank you, Susan!

    • @SusanWinter
      @SusanWinter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      It's not that the person on the other end doesn't care; they don't care AS MUCH as the person they left. In Karina's case, I'm sure he had feelings for her. It's never black and white. There is always grey.

      I feel the same way. My first and only boyfriend broke up with me 2 months ago. We were together 3 years. He said he fell out of love with me. But before that he was everything I wanted in a life partner. Checked every single box. Took me 23 years to get my first boyfriend (which according to him i swept him off his feet in the beginning). Now, at 26 years old, I feel as if no guy will even come close to how loving and amazing my ex was. How will I ever sweep a guy off their feet again? I don't think it is possible. But right now I'm on a path of trying to focus and learn how to love myself. It's a very tough situation trying to be okay with the fact that the person i love so much - is now out of my life for good. It hurts beyond words

    My boyfriend of 1.5 years broke it off two months ago. The issue being timing, I'm still in college with a year to go still and he graduated back in the fall of 2020. He does wanna live out our lives together but doesn't know if that is the right choice for both of us in the grand scheme of things. He didn't want the physical distance as well as busy schedules making either of us feel not loved. He also wants us to grow individually and go wherever our careers take us, to be our own people. He doesn't want either of us to hit a point of being pulled away from job opportunities or settling for less or just following the other around. Naturally, I agree with us having a focus still on career and I do understand where he's coming from, he's looking out for us after all. But I still see us having a relationship while growing as individuals. I want to and have been trying to fight for it, but to no avail.
    We have kept up the communication daily as best friends because we want to keep being in each other's lives, because we care so much for each other. He also kept the possibility open to the future of us getting back together, if/when the timing and circumstances are better.
    It did happen 2 months ago as I said, the wound is very fresh. I still cry and hurt every day over the memories I cant go back to and all the things I wish I could still tell him as his partner. Note he is hurting just as much as I am and is profoundly sorry for putting me through pain like this.
    It's far too early/soon for me to date again, naturally, I don't want to. I don't feel like ever dating again because I wanna be with him. I'm still holding on for when we can be together again because I love him so much. Part of me feels like he secretly wants to hold on to, to just watch me grow and then come back to me.
    Who knows where this will go and where we will end up. While yes I am greaving and hurting, I'm still trying to have some hope that ill be his girl again.

      The social stalking has to stop. You’ll never move past your ex. Remember that just because he may have moved on, they are not better than you. They are who he is with in the present and that is okay. It hurts but if you keep hanging on to his energy, you will never be open enough to allow your next partner to find you. No more blocking your future. Erase the apps. Give away his stuff and go celebrate the version of you that he missed out on

Allowing yourself to stay a victim is allowing them to still have an energetic hold over your life. You’re worth more than that.
