Therapeutic. Driving towards the sunset with virtually nothing but you, yourself, and a few other fellow drivers in wide open spaces is one of those lesser-appreciated experiences while driving out west, but one that exists all over the western US. The soundtrack was great too. Nice video, man.
It seems to me driving in the mountain states and west seems more fun then driving in the east coast. East coast is beautiful but the mountains, sunset and endless drive to nowhere is beautiful.
More, More, More! I think you two should try to cover the Southern Part (when you can, of course). As desolate as some people will say it is, the towns are A-L-I-V-E like Cheyenne (State Capitol, 64K pop, Drive I-180-the least interstate like highway that is, and maybe the shopping street, Dell Range) Laramie (University, 32K pop, Drive Grand Ave, a d feel the vast time travel) Rawlins (Penitentiary HQ, 8K pop, Drive Cedar/3rd/Spruce) Rock Springs, (28K, Drive I-80, and the Tunnel [near Green River suburb] the Belt Loop Road), and Evanston (12K, Drive Front Rd). And don't forget about some other awesome destinations scattered across Wyoming: Casper (Second Largest City, Oil Center, 59K, Drive I-25 and feel like you are in a bigger city than you are, and also drive the Yellowstone Highway, as well as 1st/2nd Street. Won't regret!) Gilette: (Larger than most would think, 32K pop, loads of historic fun, S Douglas Hey Actually is 6 lanes total, 3 lanes per side [mind blow to me there], and Gilette Ave allows for Downtown Driving) And last on this list but not least to me, Jackson (The sponsor city of Yellowstone/Grand Teton Natl park, 10K pop.
The moment @ 1:36 when the headlights of a car appear out of the dusk glow in perfect time with the music is wonderful! Great song choice…..my favorite vid of all your road adventures.
This has got to be one of the prettiest FWJ videos out there. The city landscapes are nice, the daytime nature landscapes are lovely, but the mixture of the late day's colors and the serenity of it all here blends well here.
Out of all the driving clips I watched, this particular one is the best one I enjoyed! The music, the sky and moon, the road...very relaxing and serene!! Don't know any other way to put it! Thank you!!
I watch this video every night when I get off of work and get home..get a cup of tea. Light an incense. Turn the lights off and just relax. Thanks for the video!
The first time I ever heard this I was driving through a desert in Arizona at night...and it was amazing...and just like your images!....how spooky I found this. Thank you!
i just love this video and song together they are a marrige made in heaven thanks so much for your outstanding work i look forward to watching freeway jim
this is by far one of my top ten favorite videos, just love how beautifully it looks in the night sky, with the moon dancing before the sun as it slowly fades downwards in the night sky.this is the stuff of what, magnificent, dreams are made of. just love it!!!
Drove through Wyoming a couple of years ago. I was really impressed with how big, open and EMPTY it was. I looked it up when I got home, as I recall it's the 10th biggest state in size and 50th in population.
Big like, Freewayjim. Things have come together here - the sunset, music and the wide open vistas. Soothing and relaxing. Thanks a ton for another great job here.
Northwest Wyoming is truly a piece of Heaven on Earth. Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park are absolutely beautiful and resemble Western Colorado quite a bit. I hope you get the chance to visit these places. Trust me, you'll be very happy you did.
Yeah, it may have been a last minute song change, but it worked! I liked the simplicity and beauty: wide open vista, dusk sky changing from blue to red to orange, the road to yourself, and a crescent moon to top it off. Lovely drive.
I went on a huge Seal and Sade kick in late 90s to mid-2000s. Seals first three maybe four albums or absolutely amazing. I can't think of anything else quite like it. 2 and human beings are easily First to Last Song complete albums. Violet and Wild are my faves from this first album though there are other great songs on it too. Trevor Horne's contribution on production is a big factor
Thank you Jim, It was hard for me to find a video of yours I haven't Watched, This one was nice and peaceful, some thing I needed at this time. again thank you
I have traveled from Atlanta to Wyoming and it really was life changing. I remember everything in between. Seal’s ‘Violet’ was a much better choice than the Pat Methany song you had planned man. Violet just captures the absolute tranquil bliss of driving into the forthcoming night, seeing off the day’s sunlight over the horizon in just a beautiful display of awe and colour that can only be partnered with a calming song like Seal’s 😌
wow, beautiful.... i love long drives like this ... with my music plugged in ... not too much traffic on either side...a great way to clear the mind. thank you so much.
Nice just past new crescent moon. And this has to be probably the best roadgeek sunset/dusk/twilight video ever. You covered precisely one-half of all Wyoming freeway-to-freeway junctions just in this video.
Wow, just happened upon this one after watching you for years. What a mesmerizing, ethereal gem! So beautiful it almost looks like CG imagery.....but it's all real and totally made me want to be there to experience it. That's the hallmark of a great capture, Jim. Also ironically wonderful that your second choice for the accompanying music was absolutely stellar in its enhancement of the presentation. This video soothed my soul on somewhat of a tough day....thank you and well done.
Nice video Jim. I love the stretch of I-90 from the Black Hills to Sheridan. Sorry you only got the part you did and in the dark. It's a great example of high desert. If I remember correctly, when you leave Gillette, WY to go west, you're confronted with a sign which says, "Next Services 60 Miles." Lots of signs like that in the west! If you decide to go back on the road and film more driving, this would be a great road to see in the day light (and maybe at 2x or 3x).
Thank you, to be honest, I did not plan to film this, my son thought the sunset was interesting so we pulled over, cleaned the windshield, and set up the gear, glad we did that but yeah I'd like to see it in the daylight should I come this way again.
Favorite video from possibly my favorite channel. Big fan from Annapolis, Maryland. Ever consider doing a video at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Kent Island. Could be really awesome? Thank you.
Thank you very much! I have crossed the Bay Bridge several times but not with the video camera, it's usually out of the way for me when I'm that area and the heavy traffic is also a concern but I would like to film it should I get the chance.
This reminds me of one of your previous uploads "13-28 California Coast #3 of 4: Highway 1 and Big Sur" during the Stanley Clark/Hideaway" where the music and view sync'd up perfectly. This ride had to have been so pleasant especially with the sunset's gradation. Props
Thank you very much for the comment, yes this was a very pleasant experience from the car although I'll admit, I was pretty tired after a full day of driving and visiting Mt. Rushmore.
Freewayjim Yeah, I was initially thinking of taking I-94 through the Twin Cities and proceeding to I-90 in Montana, but it now it seems to me the best route (trafficwise) is down I-80 to Wyoming and going north. I'm so excited! LOL
Seriously, thank you! I love these videos. I share them with my UK cousins. Somehow, this one was just the perfect virtual drive to end a crazy week. Thank you again! It's funny. I shared this with a friend in Dallas...she is looking to find a place away from the hassle...this video might just convince her Wyoming is that perfect place. That sky!! That sky!!!
Thanks, I really appreciate the kind words. You might want to point your friend to the video after this of Sheridan Wyoming (16-15) it was a cute little town that we stayed overnight at, kind of in the middle of nowhere but was charming nonetheless.
Yeah I sent her both the Wyoming ones and the Colorado "King of the Mountains 2.0" one as well...from the logo, you might figure that I live in Denver.
Excellent! Have you seen 18-04? Which is I-70 Eastbound from Grand Junction to Denver, originally from 2015 but it got taken down due to copyright issues with a siong so I reworked the soundtrack and reposted it. th-cam.com/video/5aISQA_PtOU/w-d-xo.html
I like the openness of the road the evening sky is majestic great time for conversation with a friend and work on your driving skills at the same time.
Everyone has their favorite songs for certain roads, and for this one "Sara" by Fleetwood Mac does the trick. The video reminded me of a summer night's drive between Buffalo and Erie on 90 back in 1980 where my bride and I chased the sunset in a 1971 Plymouth Fury Police Interceptor. This summer, my brother-in-law and I drove this stretch of 90 on the way from Sturgis to the Little Bighorn and on to Billings. He was right, things are different out West.
In the space of a few weeks, my brother-in-law and I had traveled from New Rumley, Ohio, Custer's birthplace, to the Little Bighorn, where his rainbow ended. When I retire I want to travel one more rainbow, from New Haven, CT., to Thousand Oaks, CA. This is the rainbow of Karen Carpenter. The music? "Do You Remember" by Phil Collins.
I would just say this is among the best videos I've seen from you, and I haven't seen it all yet. The song really fits the landscape, plus it's a great way to relax and de-stress from the day.
Spectacular, the horizon made it so comfortable and soothing. The music selection despite your copy write infringement, did not suffer, I can get use to 80 mph, Awesome video. Yep, have to seek rehab but not until I see all of your videos!! (lol)
Thank you! all in all it worked out. 80 MPH just feels right out there, you don't feel the need to speed, maybe 85 at the most in places, but it's a neat experience. Hope you enjoy the other videos!
Very interesting and a good choice after your inital one was failed- very nice to see Wyoming and I-90 more- very nice ride! Well worth the wait to see!
This is the best video you've created so far. The setting, sunset, the music... perfection! One of my dreams is driving one of those lonely american freeways into the sunset! I-90 in Wyoming would be one of those I'd drive. /Jonathan from Sweden
This is a great video. I have done this drive through NE Wyoming during the day and it was quite boring. Seeing it as the sun is setting was beautiful. always love your videos. Keep them coming!
+Freewayjim You're welcome! I enjoy seeing the stuff you put together. Still my favorite has to be the video you did of I-55 to the Dan Ryan Expwy in Chicago, with REO Speedwagon's "Roll With The Changes." Classic!
We drove up the 25 from Albuquerque on our way to BIllings in 2001, saw a flock of sheep being driven on the right shoulder just north of Casper. Wish I had a pic to share with you all now.
5:27 Wow! I didn't even expected traffic cones in the middle of empty Wyoming at night! Also, the speed limit dropped to 45 which is unusual for Wyoming because people usually drive at 80-90mph!
I didn't realize you were from Georgia as well! I just wrapped up a 3 month cross country road trip and hit all of the western states while living out of my car. Wyoming was definitely one of my favorite states. I took I90 as well. Definitely a whole lot of nobody in those parts, which is part of the reason I love it there so much and will likely end up as a transplant there after I finish up college. I recorded the entire trip on my dash cam, although the quality is nowhere near as good as your videos. In fact, your videos were part of what inspired me to do the trip. Definitely a life changing experience. Felt like I was in a coma back in Georgia, it's so unreal out there.
Wow, thank you for sharing that, going out west was life/perspective changing for my son and I as well the first time we did in 2013, we've done it three out of the last for years now, it's just amazing. Three months on the road? that is awesome, glad you got to experience that, it really is unreal out west. I may end up a transplant out there when I retire, who knows :)
When I saw that you had an epic Pat Metheny song for this video the first thing I thought of was Last Train Home. It’s one of my all time favorites and would have worked well with this video but Violet might be just a little better for this ride anyway. This is so relaxing and now I want to go to Wyoming and go for an evening drive myself.
Thank you! I actually had "The End of the Game" as the original soundtrack, and it worked, but over time, I think Violet was the right choice all along.
Phenomenal scenery with an equally-superb soundtrack!
Thank you very much!
Therapeutic. Driving towards the sunset with virtually nothing but you, yourself, and a few other fellow drivers in wide open spaces is one of those lesser-appreciated experiences while driving out west, but one that exists all over the western US. The soundtrack was great too. Nice video, man.
Thank you and agreed on all counts, we definitely enjoyed it.
FreewayBrent, that drive woulf be amazing in a convertible.
FreewayBren
You'd be surprised at how quickly the temperature drops out west, even in the summer months.
It seems to me driving in the mountain states and west seems more fun then driving in the east coast. East coast is beautiful but the mountains, sunset and endless drive to nowhere is beautiful.
From here in Europe, I travel the US with Freeway Jim.
Ride along! :) Thanks.
+Jeffrey Morris
I second that!
The crescent moon, the sunset, silhouettes of the land, and the music just make this video work. A unique one for your collection and it's very nice.
Thank you!
I never thought I would see a FreewayJim video from Wyoming. A beautiful yet forgotten state.
Thanks and they'll be another one next Monday :)

Even though Wyoming is very forgotten, it's still a beautiful state during night as seen in this video.

Thank you!
This has got to be one of the most visually beautiful videos on youtube!
Thank you very much!

very relaxing video and music.

Great lighting on this one. Wyoming is the kind of state I would live in, nice and open with not too many people around. 😀👌
Thanks, yes, traffic jams are probably a rare occurrence there.
yes not only is Wyoming the least populated state but to have so few people, it is a BIG state. very nice to live in im sure
Freewayjim do you always ask before using other peoples music? Have a blessed day Freewayjim. Liked the music and the video.
Also nice shot of the crescent waxing moon.
There is a list of music on YT you can check to see if it is able to be used or not. Thanks.

I like when you upload videos, they are so soothing! Especially after a long day at work! Thanks for sharing. :)
Thank you for watching!
Very interesting and a good choice after your inital one was failed- very nice to see Wyoming and I-90 more- very nice ride! Well worth the wait to see!
Thank you much!
This is the best video you've created so far. The setting, sunset, the music... perfection!
One of my dreams is driving one of those lonely american freeways into the sunset! I-90 in Wyoming would be one of those I'd drive.
/Jonathan from Sweden
Thank you very much, I hope you get to live that dream.
Your music matching your travels are so epic. Great job Freeway Jim.
Thank you very much.
This is a great video. I have done this drive through NE Wyoming during the day and it was quite boring. Seeing it as the sun is setting was beautiful. always love your videos. Keep them coming!
Thank you very much!
+Freewayjim You're welcome! I enjoy seeing the stuff you put together. Still my favorite has to be the video you did of I-55 to the Dan Ryan Expwy in Chicago, with REO Speedwagon's "Roll With The Changes." Classic!
Thank you for watching for so long.
+Freewayjim Sorry, it was I-57, not I-55. You're welcome.
Drove this road a few weeks ago too- reached dusk at Sundance and was in Rapid City at 8 in which the sky was already pitch black!
That Seal song fit so well! Great video!
Thank you very much!
DAMN, that was smooth! I would watch this to decompress at day's end.
Thank you!
We drove up the 25 from Albuquerque on our way to BIllings in 2001, saw a flock of sheep being driven on the right shoulder just north of Casper. Wish I had a pic to share with you all now.
Absolutely gorgeous!! Very nice video Jim!!
Thank you very nuch!
love these vids. i wanna get out on the road and travel one day
Thank you for watching!
Loved this! Your choice of music is spot on once again 💜
Thank you!
5:27 Wow! I didn't even expected traffic cones in the middle of empty Wyoming at night! Also, the speed limit dropped to 45 which is unusual for Wyoming because people usually drive at 80-90mph!
Every drive is interesting in its own way. I wish I could make this drive one day.
I was waiting for this video to come out for a while and this song is better than the original picks. Great video!
Thank you very much, whatever works.
GORGEOUS DRIVE
Thank you!
Beautiful landscape movie
Great video Jim!!! I really enjoyed it!!! 😊
Thank you Maureen!
You are welcome!!!
Simply stunning sunset.
Thanks it really was.
Love all your videos mate , Its on my bucket list to drive on an American highway with "Life is a highway " by Rascal Flatts playing along 😃
Thank you!
@@Freewayjim To the end of the world?
@@hwschelke That would have been a good choice but a little too long.
Wow Wyoming looks so nice the sunset looks nice
