A little inside joke that most people don't know about the first Iron Man movie is that when Tony Stark just wants to have a burger it's really just personal moment of revelation for Robert Downey Jr. For years before this RDJ struggled with substance abuse as a way to cope with his rarely talked about bipolar disorder. He's been in Hollywood since he's teens but for about a decade he struggled to get acting work because he would be erratic on set or under the influence of hard drugs so he got blacklisted for a years. He's said that he knew he had hit a new low one day when he was under the influence of cocaine, heroine and other substances when he stumbled into a strangers home and feel asleep while eating a Burger King burger. He got arrested and served some prison time and thought that the burger was his sign that he hit bottom and had to change.
