      Lol elegance should have been used instead of elegantness (not a word) lol and the part about her thinking nfc logo is to showboat lol its there for convenience lol android authority just lost 10 points for this video... Hopefully she takes this constructively

    NFC logo is important. It needs to be there to locate the chip. It might not seem that complicated on 5-inch smartphone, but things get frutstrating on 7+ inch tablets without that logo, trying to figure out where you need to tap the thing to get NFC to work.
    This is unprofessional.

    • @Vii_DT
      @Vii_DT 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      +mike white IMHO It's not there for the purpose of showing that the phone has NFC built in. Rather, it's there to pinpoint which part of the phone the chip is located at.

    • @Vii_DT
      @Vii_DT 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +mike white On smaller devices this might not be an issue as you've said. On larger devices, this becomes tricky. Take my example: I own an Xperia Z Ultra whose NFC is located on the top, just below the camera, and a Nexus 7 tablet (2013) whose NFC is located wayyyy down in the N letter embossing. For NFC to work, the devices will have to either minimally overlap top-bottom, or I have to flip one of them upside down. Sony has made it easy on their Xperia ZU by etching the NFC logo on the back of phone. But for the Nexus, I have to look that up in the manual. Trivial as it sounds, it does add convenience to the user. Sony has the habit of using the same design language across the models in the same range, so even the smaller ZC and Z3C retains the NFC logo from the larger ones. Even the Z4 Tablet has NFC logo on it. Now imagine randomly searching for the chip on a 10-inch device...
      I might have overstated by using the word 'need'. Sure it doesn't need to be there. It's useful to have a logo there, saves the hassle of having to look it up in the manual.

    • @2Exile0
      @2Exile0 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +FictitiouZ Really? The NFC logo is dumb. Like all companies they tell you where it is in the quick start guide. Why would you spoil the aesthetics with something you only need to know about once? Do you need to be reminded about where the logo is every time you want to use it?

    • @troy5568
      @troy5568 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Exile20 What's the problem having the NFC Logo at the back? It depends on you on how much you would like to be reminded. And not everyone is gonna read the User's Manuals anymore. People nowadays just open the box of their phones, turn on and use the phone, check out the accessories, then throw away the box along with the paper works. Imo, that logo makes the phone look better. It's not that it's necessary to have, but it's not a bad thing to put a logo on it

      Sony isn't too well received in terms of popularity compared to Apple and Samsung, so the other models except Apple and Samsung generally are looked down upon and often receive biased opinions.

    I purchased the Xperia Z5 dual (Gold) yesterday for INR 42,00 which is approximately 630 USD. Apart from the mind-blowing specs and the usual sony skin and software, the performance of the handset was amazing. The music playback is awesome with dual front facing speaker and the Hi-Res audio kicks in when the earphones are plugged in. The video play back is a visual treat for people who watch lot of movies, the X-reality engine plays a vital part in improving the colours and sharpness. I played heavy games like FIFA15, Asphalt, MKX etc for few hours and the graphic performance is outstanding with no lag or overheating issues what so ever. The gets hot under heavy usage with Wifi ON for few hours but it doesn't overheat. I was really satisfied by the battery life, Sony promises 2 days of battery life but you'll get that much of juice only if you use the handset for texting,calling and listening to music. I haven't tested IP ratings of the handset as i didn't have enough time, so ill leave a comment about performance,battery and durability of Xperia Z5 after 6 months usage.

    Went from Xperia Z to the Z3 to the Z5. Gotta say I still miss my original Z but this Z5 is fantastic. Actually went to bed after a heavy use day with 62% left, and did not have to charge until I got home from work the next day. The fingerprint reader is very good, not amazing but decent and the camera is brilliant. Easily on par with the Note 5 (I have compared) All in all a brilliant phone. I bought it for £549 sim free but 3 weeks later, you can buy it with free bluetooth speakers on Clove. FML

    ok so you are saying that the z5 camera is not the best in the market.... so why DxoMark website rated it as the best camera in a smartphone?? who should I consider when buying it? you or DxoMark?

    • @VintageKnight
      @VintageKnight 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the Note 5 was rated the best camera before the Z5 and if you compare the pics you can clearly see the Note 5 has the better pictures in low light and in regular lighting condition. So honestly either DXO Mark half assed their assessment of the Z5's camera or maybe they were paid off.

    • @samibakr2449

      +Trevor Philips so you think the problem is in the software? and can it be fixed?

    • @VintageKnight
      @VintageKnight 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sami Baker Maybe however the real problem is with the optics they provided. Their sensor isn't as good when you compare it to the G4 or the Note 5 as they generally take the higher quality pictures. With some minor software tweaks I'm gonna assume the "purple" layer over some pictures can be removed but that's about it.

    The NFC icon is not there to boast NFC capability, it's there so users know where the contact point is. Sony does this on most if not all of their NFC devices- sound systems, tv remotes, headphones etc. It makes it much easier to find the right place to hold your device.

    When shooting in 8MP mode, the camera actually takes a picture in 23MP but then it scales it down to 8MP to enhance the details. this is known as supersampling. Which is the reason why 8MP is the default.

    FYI to the Australian viewers.
    I have my Day old Z5 Dual SIM phone next to me and only one SIM works. After speaking to Sony Australia (who kindly took my call despite the phone not being sold in Australia) it turns out that the second SIM slot access the 2G network (GSM). This network is being discontinued/wound back in Australia so the second SIM slot has no coverage.
    Would have been nice to know beforehand, but that's what you get by buying a phone from overseas.

    1:21 The reason Sony changed the back of the Z5 from glossy to matte, or frosted, glass was to make it less slippery. So stating it is slippery "especially since it is a frosted back" is slightly inaccurate.

    "we have the Sony logo & the Xperia logo. Along with an NFC icon, which is kinda weird"
    1. We can clearly see it has it so why point it out? it's had it since the first Xperia.
    2. Icon is there so you know where the chip is at to connect NFC devices.
    3. Doesn't mention front facing camera resolution
    Damn this was a terrible review & I'm sure there was more but, I couldn't watch anymore. From now on, stick to making sandwiches :)

  • @danielwingmx
    @danielwingmx 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really don't understand how so many reviews get the camera on the Z5 so wrong. Yes, you have a 25 Mp sensor (you only get 23 due to design faults, but that's a different story) but the 8Mp pictures are optimised using the whole sensor. And this idea of the camera settings being too complicated to actually tweak them for the perfect pics it's dull and picture users like non mature capable of reasoning human beings. If it's hard to you to understand the basics of a cameraphone then go buy an iPhone (it's not an attack) they are great average spec devices that get a great job done with little mental effort. I had an iPhone and loved how easy everything is, but there are times when you want to get serious (but not pro) about a task and taking pictures on the Xperia Z5 is a perfect example of this.

    I find it unprofessional that she did not mention if she shot in auto mode or in manual mode and did not mentioned about the camera options in auto mode compared to manual mode. Generally, you can shoot the best pictures in manual mode. Shot that she shoot and didn't like could be turned around to great shots if you change some settings and go to manual mode. Aside of that, i think she did a good job in review.

  • @jdn94
    @jdn94 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm certain she knows what she's talking about. Considering that when doing a review, a good majority of these famous/paid TH-cam reviewers read what they wrote, she's doing the same thing. The difference is that her voice is slightly monotone and lacking in energy (not to mention she's new) which further makes us know that she's reading off her script. Other reviewers, like Josh, have been doing video reviews now and they sound much more natural, but at times you can still tell that they're reading from their script. Her review as a whole was concise but still in depth (yes some weird parts like her mentioning the NFC logo)...but overall she was okay.

    The NFC icon on the back isn't for you. It's for Japan. Japanese use that logo on all their phones to let users know which phones can be used for massive Metro system and multiple vending machines, taxis, etc. It is important since not all phones, like the iPhone, support this ability. Many phones in Japan don't have this logo and it also means it doesn't with their system. Since I traveled to Japan, it was nice knowing I could use this there and not have to use my card or buy a Suica card.

    I'm actually really excited fort the Xperia Z5 phone coming from someone how enjoys the Sony look and way the software is really can appreciate their upgrades.
    The design of the phone I think is simplistic but also well done considering it is always a strong sturdy build with no extra flash on the phone. IMHO - (Its a Function over Fashion Phone Company) The Fingerprint scanner is a nice touch they added and the bump up in camera details are pretty nice. Never had a problem with battery life and sure it will last like my last Xperia up to a day and a half with my usage.
    The camera in my book just as all Xperia phones really require you to use them in Manual Mode to really get the most out of the available MP's your phone has in it so taking shots in auto with the full unlocked 23MP definitely not a great idea but can agree it really does require tweaking before using so not a great camera phone choice for those quick Users who don't want to deal with the nitty gritty of the settings.
    Keep it up Krystal - Nice review thanks for covering the Sony Xperia Z5 really well done with the tech specs and providing a more general consumer market review onto this device as it really adds something new into the mix for reviews not just the big detailed nitty gritty but would like some of that possibly next time. :)

    The NFC logo is there on the back because that is where it is located on the phone underneath the back glass so when you use Android Pay or need to tap another NFC device for instance, you know where exactly to tap the phone.

  • @mwapesamala848
    @mwapesamala848 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    3 things
    1. ofcourse NFC matters! what do you mean the NFC logo doesn't need to be put?? wherever you need to connect NFC products together you need to make the NFC logos touch each other, it's not like Bluetooth (I guess you didn't know that!)
    2. Every serious camera guy know knows that you need to reduce the megapixels when you want to take low-light shot. You actually said it. So a 23MP camera WILL OUTPERFORM any other camera in adequate lighting conditions. And besides if you buy a phone with lower megapixels, you will not be able to upgrade them.
    3. The Sony Xperia Z5 finger print sensor is the fastest actually, and you said that it's slow?

    Okay, I'd like to point out:
    1) Speakers being the best sounding speakers on any phone? questionable!
    2)The nfc logo is not for show but rather to point out exactly where the device has to be touched in order to use nfc.
    3) When she noted how the video quality is pretty great with software stabilization, i'd beg to differ, cuz the sample that she presented had a lot of dropped frames and a hell lot of noticeable post-processing.

    I've never been a big fan of xperia phones but this one seems really nice.The power button acting as a fingerprint scanner is pure genius,i don't know how it can even recognize that small a print.The problem with phones that have a fingerprint scanner is that it's awkward to use it since it's at the bottom and impossible if you don't use your thumb but this phone fixes that.The dedicated camera button is also very handy.I like the rectangular look of the phone,my current phone is rectangular and has no curved corners and i really like the subtle curved corners of z5.I like that it's not going for QHD which i think is totally unnecessary but the battery and CPU are quite weak and that camera kind of sucks.
