PLEASE READ! Excuse the bad editing .. But this video is not about the editing.
I tried to get our whole story into a video .. But when I started editing I realized that its not possible.
We've been through so much these two years, and no video can explain that.
The horse people told me would never be anything. They said he'd never change. But he did.
I love him more than anything. I can't explain it, what we've been through.
People wanted me to give up. Everyone wanted me to give up. But I didn't. So look at us now.

When I got him 2 years ago, I was terrified of him. He was bucking, leaping and running like a maniac.
I couldn't stop him when I rode him, he just ran on and were mega stressed.
He was so scared of everyone, me too.
I've worked so damn hard with this horse. I was so scared og him, and people told me to just give up.
    Cause he'd never be anything.
On our first shows, the steward said we weren't allowed to be at the warm up cause my horse was dangerous.
He refused a billion times each jumping lesson.
On every show we got eliminated because he refused.
People started hating on us. They told me again and again that this was a mission impossible, that I should just give up.
They called him crazy. Dangerous. Mental. Ugly. Fat.
On every show people told me that his technique sucked. That he was to fast. To stressed up.
That he didn't belong in the show ring.
Things kept getting worse. He refused all the time, he ran out, he ran down people.
I was terrified of riding my own horse. He scared me. He scared everyone.
It was horrible. And looking back on old clips of us .. I can't belive I didn't give up.
Winter 2010/2011 I stopped jumping him. It was pointless to try.
We rode alot of dressage at home, and slowly he got calmer.
Summer 2011, something changed. I decided to try to get a bond with him.
We also got a new instructor. Slowly, we got a bond. We started trusting eachother.
And finally, after a year, I could control my horse.
We got more confident, both of us. I weren't terrified of jumping him anymore.
    He could relax doing dressage.
And now .. Things are just amazing. He's the horse of my dreams.
The horse people told me would never be anything. They said he'd never change. But he did.
I love him more than anything. I can't explain it, what we've been through.
People wanted me to give up. Everyone wanted me to give up. But I didn't. So look at us now.

I love it. I was told the same things about my horse because he never trusted anyone and came from an owner who didn't care about him. This is great to show that you shouldn't give up just because people say you'll never be able to accomplish anything.

Sometimes you have to work for things, some more than others. And this was one of those times. They told you he "couldn't" or "wouldn't" because they couldn't do it. But you saw through that. You worked with him, you helped him change, day by day. Inch by inch. And in return for helping him. You got a wonderful horse out of him. That's what matters. As long as you try, you'll be fine.

I couldn't be more proud of you and the work you put in this horse if I were your own mother. Remember, horses don't have issues out in the wild, it is when humans interact with them incorrectly that they are ingrained with resistance, but the right human on their back will put them at ease.
By not giving up and learning from your horse you both became a team and that is just beautiful.

This is exactly how my horse and I are. So many people said that, no matter how hard I tried, he would never be a 'normal' horse. Even I told myself that at times. Some days after attempting to work with him, I would be on the verge of tears and had even told my mom that "I can't do it. We have to sell him." But I knew, that no one would want him. He was underweight and only knew how to run. He was "worthless". But he has been worth everything to me. Good job not giving up hope. I know how it is

What I love the most is your belief in him and that you never got impatient and resorted to dominating tie downs or martingales or stronger bits. That horse now trusts and believes in you and what a beautiful horse...people display their ignorance, he's not fat or ugly or anything they said. He looks very intelligent. People spoil horses and you've given him a second chance in life. He looks very happy. Bravo!!!

I have a story similar to you. My giant QH Brownie didn't trust people (not to the extent of your horse) but it seemed like he and I would never get along. He would buck with me all the time, never listen, I say right he says left sort of thing. Then something clicked. Our bond got stronger and I figured out his issues and now we are partners who were meant to be. His issues lie with someone who bought him and tried to force him to do things he didn't want. Well Brownie knows if you're being unfair and will tell you by bucking. I'm the only person who spent time with him building important foundations. Now we show all the time, going to start jumping, etc. It's amazing what a bond can do for anyone. I've worked with horses other than Brownie who no one could get them to do what they want but if you build trust and a bond it takes you everywhere. People seem to forget that.
Good job sticking it out! I worked with a TB who was A LOT like your horse (i didn't end up buying her but I fixed most of her issues) and what fixed her was a TRUST/BOND! Never give up, and keep kicking ass!

Right, I'm working with a rescue mare (abused starved etc.) and she doesn't trust anybody or anything. But I spent more and more time with her, bonded with her and now we're best friends! (she still spooks at everything, but when I'm around she's pretty chill). Of course, she's not mine and I think somebody bought her. WHY ME?!

Sometimes we have to start where our horse is, even if that's a place far away from anywhere we have been with any other horse before. You have no doubt learned ALOT from this experience, and also your horse has too! Its life changing for him, and you - good job! Everyone said he was JUST cute, that he couldn't jump higher than 2'6", he wouldn't ever place in anything, and that I should just sell him and get another horse. Before I retired him, we were jumping 3'6" consistently and every dressage test we came in the top half of the competitors, even against warmbloods (he's part Morgan). I'm glad you never gave up. that's what makes you a good rider.

I love videos like yours cause I used to own a western horse and he had similar vices and more. He was the most outrageous stubborn dangerous horse I could ever have. We too proved everyone wrong, and he became the most amazing horse anyone could meet. He was also my first horse, and he's taught me to never give up on any horse cause deep down they're just softys at heart. :)

awe reminds me of my horse. He was crazy and bucked me off when I would ride him. He would take off and never stop. three years later we we competing at 3' and novice level eventing. We won blues everytime. He was perfect. But I wasn't as lucky as you. Mocha died a week after our biggest victory at an out of state competition. We didn't know it, but he had cancer and it ruptured his carotid artury and he bled out in front of me. I will never forget the last time I looked into his eyes. RIP Mocha

Looks an awful lot like the best horse I ever had - Brandy! That friend saved my life a couple of times, I think :) Lovely to see the easy & collected movement here. Happy for you both :)

This is an amazing video! I really hate how so many people in the world discourage you when you are trying to teach a horse to become something great. They all can, they all know how to jump you just have to prove to them that its not going to eat them at first and from there on they just get better every day. I have seen so many hopeless cases where a horse comes in and is terrified of people and no one believed in it and in 4 months its completely sane and kid safe and jumping 3'6! Great job!

When I get a horse I hope I am able to have as strong a bond with him/her as you do with that beautiful horse.

This horse found the right owner, and this owner found the right horse. You gave him the confidence and training he needed to transform him to the beautiful, well-trained horse he is today Well done.

This is so inspirational. You did such an amazing job. I rode a horse one time that no one believed in...she was trained in western pleasure and had no idea how to jump. Everyone but me didn't have faith in her. Now I have moved on but it makes me sosososo happy to see something like this.
