- Time-lapse of the building of my Outpost in Outpost: Infinity Siege, The Pride of Benevolence.
You'll notice some things in the final part were rolled back, I did a practice run and the smart-mortars just didn't work, so rolled that back and preferred the look as well as swapping out the Drones to Missile silos, for annoying backfield tanks and the like, I unfortunately didn't click record during that moment or that clips saved somewhere else cause I swear I clicked the red button!
As you'll see I decided halfway through the build I wanted mechs, and I had to tear half the back out, but I really am happy with the result, the entire build bar the back CWIS compartments and the 2 mid Arty stations are accessible but lets just say that there are hatches there *wink wink nudge nudge*.
This build has been fully tested to AFK right up to to 45 with only turning the ammo and shell makers on and activating the Artillery (It goes better if you let the Arty shells save up for 10-15 rounds though!)
Let me know what you think of the build, genuinely interested in hearing some feedback and ideas, so I can try get my mind around the next build, thinking something with some more dakka!
I would post the code but the code is absolutely massive, even maxed out pastebins max so I dunno how to get around that, if anyone has an idea I would love to hear it!

I have no idea what this game is or why this video appeared in my recommended but HOLY CRAP is this build beautiful to watch. Skipping forward in ignorance then going back to see what all you hid under the surface was amazing. I was trying to read with somethin goin on in the background and i barely got any reading done

@@JesturrTV Need to do something with that engineer! The two triple turrets up front are all very nice and all, but they are restricted to *maybe* a twenty degree arc forward. What is the point of using turreted guns if you are going to restrict their arcs of fire like that? The very *point* of turrets is to give as large a firing arc for the guns as possible!
But I guess its not the first time Engineers have gotten so enthusiastic about a military project that they kind of forget along the way that it has to be practical and useable!
@@alganhar1 like I said in the other post, the 406s are design only to engage the Kronos, at higher waves he gets a stupid amount of health and they are barely able to bring him down before running out of ammo, so keeping them dedicated is best, like most sci-fi ships or bases, they normally have that one big gun to take out the one big bad you know?

1,000 Canon ant air system
10,000 anti infantry, tanks, ships systems (( machine guns and canons))
And lastly
A very advanced shield

Amazing video! For anyone wondering how to replicate placing things where they aren't supposed to be placed, you need to initially place them then move them into where you want them to go, press x, and then ctrl + z.

@@izanagisora Not yet, game is still currently in EA. They have a pretty robust roadmap though.
@@JesturrTV maybe have a look at "From the Depths" it has land, air, space and sea with hundreds of different components, infinitely variable multi-block weapons, customisable shells and missiles, fully custom AI behaviour to control any function of your craft and it's fledglings and so much more.
It has an active community and a current lack of youtubers who focus on building, so you might have a chance getting on more people's radar there if you want to.

I've wanted to build a thing I call the Gilgamesh, for years in a game, it's basically a Battleship and a Aircraft Carrier on tracks, something that makes London from Mortal Engines shake in fear. And yeah, I posted a picture of the Malice, it's the sister hull to the Benevolence, the Archangel Project is the current project, basically much more min maxing in weapon loadout and stuff, has 12+ of the massive minigun turrets, and 5+ (Trying to get 7 to look okay) of the massive Railcannons! Still trying to come up with a name for it, so far the Mourning Star rings a few bells, but also dabbled in some weirder extremes, like painting it gold and red and calling it "Slaughter of Pride" or something, i like the big fancy names :D

There’s nothing practical about it way to many guns if it were irl and this thing got a penetrating hit with amount of ammunition on board this thing would light up like the Fourth of July plus most of its armor surface are flat which won’t allow for a deflection and it’s command bridge is elevated and exposed instead of being protected within the ship
I am pretty sure I replied to your other comment, but just in case, this game doesn't have us facing modern day foes, it's basically robots with melee weapons, the enemies that do use ranged are either using Flamerthrower type weapons, railguns, mortars or massive missile volleys, none of which slopped armour would help, in addition, they don't carry that much backup ammo, they 3D print it as they go
Popped up in my recommended. Currently watching while I prep some food. My only gripe isn't the video itself. It's hard to watch a video while listening to same song loop for 2 hours xD.

Trying to find copyright free music that had the vibe I wanted was a nightmare, and most of it was 2 min long each, figured a song was better none you know? And yeah, I put together a short of it, no way to turn HUD off in game

5x yeah, it looks better and takes care of a lot of the smaller pauses I made, and I figured if people want to watch it slower TH-cam has that functionality, also, it was over 10 hours raw :P that’s a tad long

Guns? YESYESYES!!! Erasing EVERTHING in Sight? Check. Look Cool while doing just that? Check! Hunger for Ammo? Absolute Insanity! (i don't want to be the Maintenance-Manager for that Part tbh even if it is very much automated?).
Base-Command: "Why are you running away? I only want to 'play' with you!" Enemies(terrified): "Don't hurt us, please!"(tries to run away, but still gets vaporized) Base-Command: "NOPE!!"

Haven't seen anyone mention it so i will, holy batman i cant imagine editing this. 2+ hours at what i believe to be 4x speed timelapse, AND largly unedited outside of said speed up. Props to that alone.
Thank you so much, I wanted to have as little editing as possible so there would be no big skips, basically had to go through and remove all the long pauses when i would just sit there and stare at the screen, haha! And all the pauses and saves screens, but yeah, I am pretty sure this was 5x speed, the raw recordings were 13 something hours all up, haha!

This must be how the PSO2 team in Sega gets ideas for their bosses. I remember a few years back they released this event with a train in downtown tokyo that was a flying hydra train demon with lasers and guns and missiles that consequently could lay its own tracks and fly. I remember first seeing it thinking... 'Oh another slow giant antagonist', but then it instantly attacked at lightning speed and ran me over and even sounded a train horn as it smashed into me at mach five, sending my corpse flying over a skyscraper.
Well that was a colourful image, haha! I would love a version of this where I could do this same stuff on a grander scale, like Mortal Engines and roam around in em, would be amazing

Not actually armour, though they do confused the Scorpions, it was for extra redundancy for power transfer, I did go a little overboard tho xD 1 bad experience

@@KammTheRam nah, they patched it out, my guess is the people that were placing like 50 Mech Bays over the top of each other ruined it for everyone, but they also took away the ability to change anchor points.. So I dunno honestly, but yeah, it’s gone now

@@runecowman the ones I put in between the floors? It’s basically for power transfer, I had a few bad games were a lucky railgun shot or missile would hit a section and take power away from 50+ percent of the base, I went way overboard with it in this build, my newer builds I only do 5 or so per level

Edit: I am confused on the stair spam, I can't figure out the stair placement. I assume it's for extra armor or hp, but then why not spam it everywhere?
Also why does a game like this not have a symmetry mode or some sort of copy paste feature?

The stair thing is for redundant power transfer between levels, figured it made sense to do inside the generator rooms, had some bad matches where a random railgun shot would take power from half the outpost cause it hit the one staircase transferring it up, haha!

Amazing attention to detail, I would suggest moving the CWISs apart so they don't overlap each other and other weapon systems. Realistically that is. If they game doesn't care, then who cares right? :)
You mean along the gun spine? Yeah, they are clustered around that because if that goes the enemy boss will crush me, he fires missile swarms and has these massive hordes of flying drones (Think Matrix drones), they really help against that! Thank you muchly, that was a bit of a placement trick you could do before the Phase 2 Patch, it allowed you to undo a delete even if it would be impossible to be placed there, allowed for some really nice builds cause you could overlap a lot of pieces, but someone had to ruin it for everyone and they would place like 40 Mech hangers inside each other -_- so that sucked, but oh well, feel free to @ me in the official discord if you ever post your build! I ask this having only played through the first few missions of the game.
Why are you building so many stairs that are glitched through other components, or fully encapsulated/enclosed in micro rooms?
Ah, it used to be a trick, but the stairs were mostly there as redundant power transfer, i had a bad run where a mortar hit a floor section and basically powered off half the base, haha! Since there I always have like 3+ power transfers to each level

@@JesturrTV What always cracked me up is that the original would run just fine on a modern machine, but only if you had an install from like Windows 3.11 or whatever. The install program (on a 3.5" disk) wouldn't run, but the copied, installed program would run perfectly.
What kind of sucks though is that even if you had the 'latest' patch for it, there were a lot of features that didn't exactly work, and there was only the one path to a sustainable colony. If you made it past the midgame resource crisis, you had an inevitable victory state.

I don't know how you do the build clipping or if it still works but it makes for impressive use of space. Also why so many stairs? Just structural padding?
They removed it not long after this video was posted unfortunately, it was almost required to make builds aesthetically pleasing but finding ways to get things to look not horrible is fun in its own way, haha! As for the stairs, mostly as redundant power transfer, that is why i put them in the power rooms :)
@@JesturrTV ah makes sense. Other than the first floor cube that contains power and supply, the rest of my base is just floating platforms to stack everything in. I did like the conveyor set up you used. I just throw the producer right up against the refill and box it in with walls.
Might try building a new base with the update since they improved the interface and allows for multi selection

Absolutely amazing build. Just a question or two. How in the heck did you manage to get so many components? I struggle/die on stage one city ruins extraction. Any useful tips for comp farming?
Drones are your friend, to make it easier ^^ (240s last day is easier than 800s) And i take all i can, but send it home with drones.
So if you wanna farm en mass, the best 2 ways I have found are to either do auto Forest or Desert runs, and just max out incident reports at the end, to get all the extra materials that way, realistically you can get several hundred base mats within about 5 minutes, the other way is to do the highest tier you can do while maxing out incident reports, and maxing the gold output, then just shop flip, but it's boring as sin.
And exactly what Tera said above, Drone are great for City and Snow runs when you get really good stuff but your not sure if you can survive Recovery.

@@samuraijackson241 the middle guns are designed to fight the bosses, they always come at the base from a frontal arc, and I had to depress them into the hull and surround them with CWIS to protect them from random railgun shots and missile swarms

I hadn't heard about this game until now, and now my interest is piqued. I build a lot in From the Depths, so I've got a basic concept on what some of the techniques may be for- like the drop ceiling flooring being a matter of armor redundancy and connectedness- and if there's anything like HESH or HEAT in the game, it provides protection from it between layers. Or just another layer of stuff to chew through. The stairs inside the drop ceilings is a little strange because it's just some of them randomly, but I'm guessing maybe it's a way to get out if some tiles are destroyed? And maybe more armor redundancy/HP to chew through. But I don't understand the 2x1 rooms on the first floor filled with supplies having stairs into nothing in them? I'm guessing that there's an internal supply line in the game, but what's this for? It also seems like the connection points might be quite finnicky in the game- too bad there's not a mirror mode?, it would cut a build like this into half the time. I love watching the process, but I also partly wish there was commentary on the thought process- especially the parts where something was tried, then a whole part gets ripped out and rebuilt a bit differently; like is that from realizing something won't work, or that something doesn't have the space it needs to fit, and so forth... Overall, looks like a badass build. Endgame, it sure seems. Did you need to unlock the parts in the game before being able to build with them, or could someone build something like this from the start?
First off, sorry for the late reply, I missed a fair few comments so my bad!
I have been recommended From the Depths and it is probably one of the only games I would be able to build the Gilgamesh, a beast I have been trying to build in games for years, but nothing let's me build at that size (This outposts ATC is the biggest and its 13x18, I would need like.. 150+ by 1000-1500 to build what i want too), let me answer some of your questions;
1. Yes, the stairs and slopes are two-fold, to add more protection and for power transfer, so that if a lucky railgun shot hits and takes out something, it doesn't wipe out power to 20% of my weapon systems. There isn't anything like HESH or HEAT, most opponents use melee, the few that don't use an AoE Flamethrower type attack, a Railcannon shot, or a Missile swarm, most of the PvE enemies are similar to the drones from the Matrix I guess (?), so in short, yes, it's basically for more HP to chew through, haha!
2. The 2x1 rooms, those are power banks, each of the boxes gives 10 Core and 80 Material Storage, and the Battery Banks give another 10 Core and 80 Power storage. having them in that layout gives the most per space used, and i like how they look with the windows, the stairs are mostly for more power transfer redundancy.
3. A mirror mode would be nice, but I dunno, I really like building so it doesn't bother me that much.
4. Commentary, I thought about this, but at the time of record and even till now believe it or not, my voice hasn't been the best, that and I really lack confidence, but you aren't the first to say as much, so.. I Might consider it for the next one..
5. Yes, this is an end-game build, and yes, you need to unlock the parts, then find the parts for most of the crafts for the actual parts, it's basically a looter shooter with tower defense modes at the end of each level. Your starter base the ATC (Floor plate) you have to work with is only like 3x5 I think, so this is very much a "Finished the game build".

@@JesturrTV I recently did get Infinity Seige, though I've not as of yet had a chance to try it out. Though I've been soaking up some game tips in the mean time.
So- yes, From the Depths would allow you to build the Gilgamesh that you desire. Your build size is limited basically only by your computer's capabilities, as at very large sizes the game can slow down to around 20 frames per second or so, give or take, depending on how high or low end the computer is. (for around the build size you're talking about) Yes, I've seen builds 150+ by 1000+, yes, they can slow/lag the game, but they're possible, and functional. As the game counts one voxel block as 1 meter, blueprint (the term for any build in the game) sizes and shapes vary vastly along with aesthetics, and combat ability. Actually learning how to make a combat effective design is a very steep (cliff-like) learning curve, but there is no other game that exists which allows quite what From the Depths allows in terms of creative building, save Minecraft; but Minecraft can't do AI-based voxel-destruction combat. And what you can build is limited basically only by your own ability- ships, planes, submarines, skimmers, spacecraft, tanks, blimps, helicopters, airships, fortresses, walkers, mechs, and anything in-between are all possible. Though learning how to utilize the game is ...pretty hard. Personally, I enjoy building for tourneys. Someone posts rules, people build within the rules, the submissions fight- it's all good fun. :)
1. Thank you. I'll have to learn about the power mechanics in the game once I play it, but I'll remember stairs as a floor-to-ceiling transfer conduit. ;) If power transfer has a limit by distance or tiles travelled, it makes all the more sense. How much HP can the most powerful rail-cannon shot in the game punch through? And I don't know if there's any sort of reduction to damage from armor in the game or not, but if so how does it function? (I'll find out later when I play, but I like foreknowledge)
2. I saw in another video with tips and tricks that there's a power supply mechanic in the game and that one of the power-supply items can either open some doors on a level or add to the base's power supply. But I don't yet really know the power transfer mechanics in the game or fully what the supply does except run gun turrets and ammo producers. I also saw in that video that there's a way to connect a tile to another by one connection rather than all three, I think it was something with shift... the specifics have escaped me. I also remember that it had a way to overlap things to avoid collision with control z; placing, deleting, placing something else there, and undoing the delete. Though it was mentioned it was expected to be patched out in the future. Figured it might be interesting knowledge for you if you didn't know- maybe you do. :)
3. If you get FTD in the future, remember that it does have a mirror mode. ;)
4. If you want to. A couple times sinse my OP, I turned on the vid just for the music, as it makes really darn good building music, while I was playing FTD, ironically. XD But it would also be interesting to hear thoughts regarding what's taking place and why things are being done as they are. I partly want to say no need to worry about how your voice comes across, but I also think you should take care of it however you need to.
5. Hey, glad to know. It's a little unfortunate there's not a sort of 'creative mode' to build to your hearts content and see how long you can survive, but flipside it makes this more impressive because, considering how long it took just to build the base, I can imagine how much longer it took to get the materials *to* build the base.

Power is basically transferred from the baseplate up, but walls don't transfer it up, only ramps and stairs do that, so redundancies! Haha! Hand Z was removed which was very sad, I was only able to do the Benevolence because of it. And yes, I bloody loved this music, was actually listening to it while building too, it gee'd me up so much, haha!
And yeah, I have looked it a bunch, but my PC would probably explode, it barely handles Outpost while recording, but its on my watch list, very excited, building the Gilgamesh in a game has been a damn pipe dream for years.
