If tanks weren't so bloody heavy I'd wager that's how the whole vehicle would be. Hell the M1128 weighs just short of 19 tonnes and it rocks more than the table from recoil if the cannon is aimed to its left or right.

Ironically as a tank mechanic in the army i had to shout at countless soldiers to not put food in the shells storage, you have no idea how many outdated bottles and moldy bread i found there....

The whole team (the numbers of soldiers between each tank varies) needs to lock there tank hermetically and stay there till backup comes which could be minutes to days. So the team is locked in a tank for a couple days, without ever going outside while still doing combat drills. So yes, tank soldiers bootcamp involves a couple days of doing EVERYTHING inside a tank, even toilet breaks.
After playing those twin joystick controls for a robot arcade game way back in like mid to late 2000's, having to operate a tank with a group of your friends or alone in a arcade style machine sounds like a dream come true. Imagine the esports capabilities. Pro gamers vs irl tank crews from different army nations, fighting against each other in a 5v5 (3 people per crew so it's technically a 15v15) style capture game. For a trophy, cash and bragging rights. Sponsored by Mountain Dew, Gaijin, Wargaming, and the Military Industrial Complex. As well as the different army recruiters all over the country.
I found it always hilarious with these configurations, that with all the ingenuity the engineers of these magnificent contraptions yet always fail to ssecure the table accordingly.
I think in this case its actually part of the design intent since the whole tank or tank destroyer would rock back depending on the weight of the tank vs the caliber of the gun attached to the frame. An improvement they could do to the design would be to mount the table on some kind of spring/lever reset to allow it to recoil like that but actually be securely mounted to keep it from tipping without their input.

The ideas here are so cool, and the fact that there's still more you can do (twin sticks instead of wheel & pedal for driving, pedal instead of button for firing, etc) makes this a super appealing project .
