the governor is probably not set correctly with full open fuel rack on starting resulting in the massive knock on the first few firing. once the engine speed pick up, it settle nicely. thks for dropping by

Hi. I've got a yanmar 3cyl 68 tne paired with a 2 pole 10kv head spinning at 3600 rpm. The cost of fuel is burning a hole in my pocket. Is it possible to run the engine at lower speeds and still have power even if it only 5 or 6 kv?

how old is the engine?
run the TNE at 1500rpm to save fuel. on my 3TN70, it was rated at 18hp at 3000rpm. i guess at 1500rpm, you shd have at least 10hp to pull a 5KW load.
