So nice to see you took my advice on universal joints. They are ready to be greased and put to the test on the machine soon. A real nice unit for sure. Keep the videos coming for us to enjoy.
Wish I could live closer to you fella. Would give you a load of advice from my mechanical experience. Good luck too. Believe it or not, luck got a lot to do with it Sir.
As my welding instructor told me years ago in class “behind every good welder there’s an even better grinder”. You sir are a ninja with an angle grinder!
I am addicted to watching your wonderful fabrication techniques. I love everything about your mechanical vision for this vehicle. I won't miss a video!
Donn, you sir are a true craftsman. A lot of youtubers building tracked vehicles, but not with the attention to detail that you show. A pleasure to watch. 👍👍
Sure glad to see all of your work coming together, I knew you would make it work correctly. Such a great craftsman !! Thanks for sharing with us Donn, keep up the good work and videos.
Another great video😎 When using a holesaw for thick plate I drill a hole of maybe 10mm inside the diameter the saw will cut and so the outside of the hole just meets the inside edge of the holesaw. This allows the chips to drop down and saves a whole load of lifting the thing out to clear the chips. Great work👍
you are a very talented young man, your ability to design on the fly is impressive. your talent with the cutoff wheel and mig welder make great video. keep them coming
Excellent work as usual . Good machining setup you have there , Exactly right to make components for an original one off build . Keep up the amazing work . A real joy to watch and learn from . Top man .
Love to see your project grow Donn, but miss your voice. I am not so fast reader, so it’s easier to hear your voice and it makes it more personal for me. My thoughts. Thank you for sharing your amazing journey. God bless you and your family
Ur very patient with your works. I am strongly appreciate your talent . Hopely u whould be able to upgrade your worming skill and become a great machanic in near future. Good luck forever.
Dude, you're a genius, I can't wait to see all this in motion. But it'll be sad because this would mean that you're done with this project. I love your step by step videos. I can never wait for your next video. You got me spellbinded. Thanks a whole lot!

Great build. Good use of different parts from different machines. Can't for the next episode. It is amazing what can be built with just a lathd and angle grinders, no big millimg machines or plasma/watet jet cuting machines. My hat is off to you and your inginuity.
looks nice and a nice project! instead of a cvt u could also try a vario transmission. instead of welding the diff, u just breake one of the outputs and connect the other to your load. depending on the braking force of the first the second output allows a variable speed.
Here in America, when us country folks weld a differential spider gears together it is nicknamed a "Lincoln locker" ! Being that Lincoln is a major big name welder here.
This sure is a great build and I dare say you would make some modifications if you made another one, the value of having a crack yourself I guess. When you have finished this project I reckon a rotary welding positioner should be your next project as I reckon you would get heaps of use out of it. Thanks again for sharing

"getting colder here"...I'm jealous. It's still in the 90's here in Oklahoma, USA. Great build man. I look forward to these videos more than any other on youtube. You inspired me to learn to weld. I start class tomorrow.
This thing has to perform in mud and sand and because it is steered by using brakes I want to spare brakes as much as possible thus I built the brakes indoor where there's less wear on them since there's no abrasives like mud or sand.
What about mounting a pillow block bearing to the clutch side of the cvt mounted to the lower half of the bell housing so that way there will be no side loading on the input shaft of the transmission? Great videos and look forward to the next. You have some great fabrication skills.
An alternative to cutting thick rubber discs for dampener bushings: cut from thin rubber with scissors. Laminate several layers together using silicone as glue.
Hey Donn, not sure if you just used brake cleaner to get rid of the gear oil not, but be careful if it was!!! I know you blew it off but welding after using brake cleaner creates phosgene gas (mustard gas) wouldn't want to see you get sick from it. Another great video, going to be as good as or better than an Argo!!
Thank you for worrying. I'm aware of that problem. And when welding I usually hold my breath and walk away after a weld so the ventilation can pick up the gasses. I will check the cleaner can for the ingredients.
You should start a GoFundMe or Patreon page to pay for tools. Especially a milling machine and a CNC Plasma cutter. Just consider how much time you would safe if you had those. And you wouldn't have to do so much finishing work by hand, to get the parts up to a high standard. Unless of course you enjoy the torture! :D
I have no idea what you are doing, I'm a carpenter, not a mechanic. But your ingenuity and craftsmanship blows me away!!
I'm a wood processing technologist and yet doing this. It's a tracked amphibious vehicle I'm building for going to swamps and mud.

@@DonnDIY SO where is that PESKY plasma cutter I keep hoping your gonna pull out :) Great Job btw :)
@@DonnDIY No Donn. We thank you that you work on something like this and record it on a video!
That turned great Donn. Certainly a lot better than the PTO shaft. Especially since each side will independently be stopped to allow steering.

Once again great work, this is an adaptation and a beautiful customization. congratulations.
Good job.
Note:
If you wedge round stock or bolts between the planetary gear teeth
then weld it all together, it is less likely to break free.
I see you are familiar with the Lincoln locker. He will probably be fine with what he is using for an engine. Still good advice.
