I think the roland filter is a little squelchier and round. Moog is thick fat and fuzzy. Roland works better for polyphonic sounds, leads, and simple sounding bass IMO, whereas Moog takes up a lot of space.
It has RCA in and out, left and right channels. I plan on replacing these with 1/4" because, well, RCA is crap. The reverse reverb isn't anything great, and there is no control over timing except for the presets which are few (for the reverse anyway). This first version of the Midiverb sounds great, but it lacks the control and features of the newer versions. The Midiverb 2 is way better in pretty much every aspect. If you have a choice, get the 2.
Jerry Garcia i highly doubt he would even use a mc-303. the mc-303 was aimed for beginners . he has about everything you can think of for equipment.... that was done on a modular system.... running patch

no - i really don't think afx uses a 101 for this track. having just bought a 101 and 202 - i can confirm this. the sequencer is very basic on the 101. The 202 allows you to change the note length of the 6th note from 12 to 24. you cannot do that on a 101. This video actually made me go and find a mc-202..!
@HeresJamesPrice, FYI: 1/4" and RCA are functionally the same. Balanced signal (which is not possible with RCA) is better than unbalanced if you have long cable runs, but just swapping out the RCA jacks with 1/4" won't balance the I/O.

It sure has it's roundy charmy for sure, and is a work horse for many purposes. But the sound and synthesis of it can be ahcieved (and more) with lot's of other monosynths very affordably nowadays. I suggest save the family considering the actualstate of things. ; )

The minibrute has a very unique sound. If you want the same old tired roland sounds, go for it.

i hope you are aware the only difference between the 101 and the 202 is the keyboard and the sequencer
