Not tryna be "that guy" but I'm pretty sure all the songs are untitled and the names that stuck were a community thing I think the album inlay artwork pictures are what they used to name them. I think stone in focus (viynl, digital only?) and the one he did for the peel session but with a beat (radiator, metal rods???) Something like that are the only 2 he actually gave a name to
I have no words to say. This just great. It just makes me feel the most comfort and calm state of being. I forget all the problems and anxious thoughts. Thank you, you make my life happier🦋🍂☮️
I love Rhubarb, and I love this cover of it. A really nice, really close-to-source version, but just different enough to be unique. It’s on one my favourite TH-cam ambient playlists, so I get to listen to it often. Much respect from me to you for doing this wonderful piece of music justice.
What a beautiful performance indeed. I really love this track, and it always sounded so magic in my head, seeing break down like this it's really awesome, thanks for this.
Hey Paul, long-time-no-see! Just happened upon this as it's one of my all-time favourite songs, and it's honestly incredible how faithful to the original track you've got the sound; awesome production man. Glad to see you're still making music and spreading the gospel of RDJ & BoC, building up quite the collection of hardware too! Been enjoying your original work too, keep it up! Take it easy man
"[...] It might rely heavily on electronics, tapes. I can kind of envision maybe one person with a lot of machines, tapes, and electronic setups." -Jim Morrison, 1969
Ugh I love how it's kinda repetitive for such a long time when I think I've heard enough it ends and im left in a state of wanting more, love AT mahn my fav artist ever and im a heavy rock and hip hop head
Hey! I'm really sorry I somehow missed this comment for a year... This isn't technically DAWless as I use Reaper to write in/sequence MIDI (I don't own a sequencer yet). Would be cool if it was though! Hope you got something sorted!
Hey, thanks! I started off with a basic pad sound on the minilogue, recorded that to tape then sampled that into the S3000. There's also a recording of a wee Thai flute I had lying around that I layered in. So just the MIDI notes from recording the pad into the sampler :) It's all been downsampled a bit though which I love the sound of, plus the inbuilt effects of the sampler.
@@paulgstewart Interesting! So were you just sampling the chord sequence playing once and then looping it? I bought one of these a while ago but never had the time to get into it to learn it! The downsampling is definitely a classic effect
@@raynefaded Yup! I think I actually recorded then sampled the chord sequence either from a loop tape or from another tape that was intentionally damaged to give it a bit more grit. With the sampler it's always about saving memory (floppy disks) so just recording anything thats low to mid range at 10khz instead of 20 then filtering out the sort of metallic artefacts, but those can also sound cool depending what you're going for 🤓 It took me a few years to get the hang of but I really enjoy using it and it does sound great. I can make sounds on it fairly quickly now! I recommend Pete Cannon's video, I wish I'd seen that ages ago th-cam.com/video/IDn7ZDcx9w0/w-d-xo.html
It makes me happy, for some reason, that such a profound and deeply moving piece of music has the silly name 'Rhubarb'.
And has like 5 chords

@@606808909That makes it even more beautiful. The name of each piece is up for interpretation, because each one is a different state of being.
I think it has something to do with his mum collecting it and making stuff with it when he was a lil boy
@@Ldj8395jebr4 some of the great tunes have even less... who sold the idea that many or complex chords are something important in making a great tune?
It is a melancholy comfort. You honored the original. Great job!
I think this is the most loyal cover. The instruments are so close to the original! ❤🔥
This is beautiful. I'm cryin'
Man this is the closest i've heard a cover come to the original! Amazing work
the comfort this song gives me...

This is the next best thing after a live performance from Richard David James aka Aphex Twin. Good job sir. You moved all of us.

Which minilogue patch did you use?
if i know him well enough, he spends a LOT of time creating them from scratch, when he does a cover, to nail it
Could you please tell me the name of the first korg synthesizer in this video??????
korg monologue ^_^
It's a minilogue :)

As for the Tascam, it's just a basic mixdown to stereo- channels 1 and 2 are the "dry" synths and sampler, 3+4 are the reverb returns.
@@paulgstewart great stuff. resampling on the 3000xl is magic
HOWD YOU GET THAT SOUND ON YOUR KORG??! WOW
How did u make this ? ❤
WTF. If that is legit, how'd you pull that off?
Wasn’t expecting this one! Love this tune, good job on it!!!
