Nice work and good thinking. I’m hoping that you clean up and or repaint the brackets for the AC/Alt and the power steering pump.
It’s so cool to see someone take their time and do things right like you do. Bravo!

Just joined your channel.. was watching your Holley sniper review. Great job on that video.. my brother also had problems with his sniper and fought it for a year. Til he removed everything and went back to a carb and it ran great.. great job on this video too.. 👍

Great job, beautiful car … I’ve done this job a few times and I’ve found that eliminating the gasket at the bottom of the timing cover that meets the oil pan makes installing the timing cover much easier, just use the right stuff it has worked flawlessly every time!
Many guys at the Buick v8 forum do it this way.

@@Cstoreri Thanks! I agree that the bottom gasket can be a pain in the ass.

Soaking chain in oil overnights a good technique

I have rebuilt Buick 401, 215, 300, 350, 430 and 455. and I NEVER had to use a wheel puller to take off the front pulley/damper. I couple of taps and they slide right off (after you take out the bolt of course). Every Ford or Chevy, one has to use a puller all the way until it falls off the end of the crank!

I'm just waiting on my new chain and gears. This is exactly how mine started. Just wanted to change the water pump 🤦 my cover was trash too. I also have a 64 Riviera

What's the normal range of cost to have a mechanic change the timing chain?

Pricy job these days if you can even find someone that's willing and knows how to do it on a nailhead. I bet 1500 easy plus parts.

I don't believe you pulled that cover without breaking are extracting bolts
