Just need to add a warning about how easy it is to crack the fuel line, Tank to Rail. The squeeze coupling is not that easy to squeeze and one may find it easier to first disconnect the line on the right side of the bike first, allowing additional room to remove the tank connectors

thanks for the video. It is a beautiful motorcycle, I had it on my list to renew my old 2006 sportster due to the environmental roll in Europe, but the simple fact of having to disassemble so many parts of the motorcycle in order to change a simple air filter makes me discard it. It's a shame, it sure is a great motorcycle but I like to maintain my vehicles and I prefer the simple, less is more.

I actually dont think its that bad. It was better than i thought it was going to be. Being under the sest sounds like a nightmare but uts really only a few bolts a fuel line to unclip and the tank it off i had an old honda it was eaiser. It was on the side and you opemed a little door and there the filter was. To me though under the tank the way they did it i think its not that bad I could easily do it no problems. Jrs worse when its like a sportbike because they have plastic fairings covering the gas tank and stuff like that. This is actually not that bad. I kind like the filter being tucked up safer in cleaner air for longer. Under the tank sucks compared to the side but you cant bump your leg into it. Its also an indian a little extra step is not that big of a deal considering what it is. I could do this air filter job easy. I came to find this to see how bad kt was and im suorised its actually not that bad of a job. Its still pretty easy.

It would be great to get a picture or clip of what we can see underneath the video. It would make it easier to do if we could visualize it.

Guess I never really looked at my wife’s Scout that close. When he said you have to remove the gas tank just to replace the air filter I was sure I heard that wrong, but I guess not.
No wonder you have to take out a loan if you want your dealer to service the bike.

Hello! Do I need to drain the fuel from the tank to change the filter?

Is there a red replacement for the high performance air filter? Or do you need to buy a whole new unit?

Did you ever get a response/solution to your question? I am planning on doing the upgrade but kindda deal-breaker if I have to do all the work and keep buying the whole box/filter combo every 10k miles

I noticed in the video the battery was removed, but narrator did not mention it. Is this required, recommended or does it matter?

    • @Don2006

It is a recommendation. I believe it is to prevent any possible sparking/ignition source since gasoline will be leaking out when the fuel line is disconnected.

It's a pain. And putting things back together after replacing the air filter is more difficult than the removal.
I have a 2017 Scout 60 and the 4 tank bolts are not 13mm, they are 1/2". Go figure.

Our 2019 Scout is 13mm. Wonder why yours are different?

@@tomhalligan7465 It's been a year since I posted that and I am currently enjoying some local Kentucky bourbon so....
I do recall when I did it that my 13mm did not fit as well as my 1/2". My 13mm are 45 year old Craftsman sockets and I can't recall if the 1/2" one is Craftsman or Chinese.
I would guess it is possible the answer lies in the sockets. Anyway, I always use what fits the snuggest. Sometimes 13mm and 1/2" seem to fit almost the same. Sometimes I think the world is not as precise and we are led to believe.

1/2" is 12.7mm so either the bolts heads were a little small or your socket was a little big either way always best to use what fits the best

I dont think its that bad. They coulds fucked it up terribly it can get bad when thy out things under the tank like that depending on the design but to me this is pretty easy job.
