Literally the most saddest story/ Minecraft story I've ever watched in my whole life, like Andrew is doing all his best to just find his way just to find Chris without knowing that his friend already passed away and is only communicating through making cryptic messages and help his living friend survive and not letting him end up with the same mistake. I understand the feeling of losing a friend who passed away, especially when that person already died a long time ago and plus, the part where he said "Thank you for being my friend" HIT DIFFERENT I gotta tell you I ALMOST CRIED.

Another sad thing I picked up is that There's a good chance Smile was way, way younger than Chris and Andrew. The way he talks and builds and all of that seems like the actions of a small child. And maybe he still is. What if that explains a lot of his mischievous and childish behavior as Smile?

This is no joke probably one of the coolest ARG's I've seen. The expression and the story deliver such a heavy situation in a block game but yet it carries the same amount of meaning as a real movie would. Props to the creator of this and I do feel like this does actually teach something about life; acceptance. I could ramble on for ages about how good this ARG is!

I've watched other videos you've made about _Minecraft_ series that people have made, but this one is just... I mean... Jesus Christ. This is more than just a _Minecraft_ ARG. The story that's being told is terrifying to see unfold, but it's also sad, and heartfelt, and seriously tugged at my heartstrings. The well being a symbol of death and the act of jumping into the well being symbolism of ending one's life... it just makes me view every moment in the series where Andrew jumps into a well in a different light, especially since he's also portrayed as someone who struggled mentally. And the messages on the signs in the "Winter Wonderland" video had made me tear up, partly because I've gone through my fair share of online friends just becoming inactive for ages and the emotional strain it puts on me, and partly because I'm already an extremely sensitive and emotional person. Andrew is an absolute genius for creating this series, and if there actually is more to come, I can't wait to see what's in store. Although, I find that the thing I'm really latching onto more than anything is the malevolent spirit, "Smile". He isn't just being evil and creepy for the sake of being evil and creepy. He was a person who actually struggled with mental health issues, forsaken by the people in his life and the world around him, and the betrayal of his classmates he thought were his friends was the final straw. I don't think the face on his avatar was for creep factor, either. The eyes are wide, the smile looks forced. It could play into that saying that someone with depression would force themself to smile in their day-to-day life, and it could be in reference to the taunting smiles that his classmates no doubt had on their faces when they griefed him, but moreover, Smile's avatar face looks like the face of someone who's gone completely insane. And from the looks of Smile's videos, he seemed like an innocent naive child trying to make the best of his situation. Having that happen to a child who's already so close to breaking is tragic, sure, but it's also horrifying, especially when we see what became of him afterwards. The fact that there are real people out there who punch down to rise up, and that they're willing to do that to someone who's already down, is just sickening, and honestly rage-inducing to see portrayed in Smile's last video, just because of how true to life it is. There really are people who're that cruel in real life, who don't take the thoughts of others into consideration and think they're better than everyone else, so the feelings of others therefore don't matter. They think they can do whatever they want with no consequences, and with this twisted mindset, they choose to be bad people. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH KINDNESS IN THE WORLD. EVERYONE NEEDS TO DO THEIR PART. AND THE MORE ARROGANT, ANTISOCIAL, AND OVERALL SADISTIC PEOPLE WE HAVE, THE FARTHER WE STRAY FROM A BRIGHTER FUTURE. I don't care if Smile's classmates are likely children as well. People who act like that don't deserve to be humans. If they truly derive pleasure from manipulating, taunting, and ruining someone else's happiness, then they can rot in Hell for all I care. For me to say that, I guess it just goes to show how emotionally invested I got in this series - arguably _too_ invested, but like I said, I'm a very emotional person, and the story itself was already getting more and more emotional and heavy in tone as it progressed. For everyone out there with depression, especially those who've lost someone special in their lives: keep going. Never give in. There are always others who truly care for you, even if it doesn't seem like it. Show compassion and love to the ones in your life, and stay as far away as you can from your well. No matter how enticing its call may seem.
this is the most a minecraft arg series has affected me. the horror element was done really well (i always enjoy a more slow, "stalkerish" horror and despite it being in minecraft it managed to be really creepy with the old textures, liminal spaces, and low resolution) but the actual story underneath it all was really tragic and haunting and beautiful. i have also struggled with suicidal tendencies AND have had friends that have considered it, and it truly is so important to be reminded that there are people around you that love and care about you and will miss you when you're gone. phenomenal work by andrew and thank you to wifies for covering it ❤
Some people relate with Andrew, The feeling of losing in touch with your best friend whom you've spent time with, and made many memories. Wanting to be with them again and missing the simpler times Some relate to Chris, The feeling of doing an irreversable action that you regret. Wanting to prevent others from making the same mistake But i relate the most with Smile.

I noticed something lets say "strange" at 54:00. When Andrew was collecting the journals there were no mobs (as wifies said), but when Andrew had a breakdown there were some mobs spawning but only passive mobs. A cow that hid behind a wall and a pig that hid behind a tree

The way I read it (if intentional, which it probably was) was as being representative of Andrew having a moment of realisation about his life - animals being representative of life as a concept and having a closer connection to emotionality than the unfeeling plants and buildings around him
I noticed a cut in the video when the guy picked up the water bucket, The well was already filled with water but the next second, The video was cut only for the well to be empty, Apparently.. So he could put water on the well.. Strange isn't it?

This honestly is one of, if not, the best Minecraft ARG/analog horror compilation I’ve seen. The live dialogue makes it so much more immersive and real, the acting was absolutely Leagues above the rest, a brilliant experience that’s both scary and saddening in its execution.
Don't forget the little notes Andrew left about the editing and quality, also going back and noticing things like a real editor does? It just feels too real
I feel the saddest part about stories involving suicide as a major plot point is that they mainly stem from suicide being a major point or idea in the life of the author. I hope that the creator or AndrewGaming didn't have to experience such a tragic event for this series.
No words describe what I feel through out the video. I love how the story goes to a normal video of Minecraft then it started to go both haunting and sad. This is the definition of Horror that I like, no jumpscares, no blood, just the feeling of chills, the lore, how the plot goes and so on. Despite the game is just all blocks it can be creepy in a way, maybe because of the low quality? No, its how the narrator, the actors, and how they make the story is what makes it creepy. All in all this is by far the best video I have seen so far.
This is the most spine-chilling Minecraft video I've ever seen. Right at 46:48 is when I was at the verge of tears. It was 12AM when I watched this, I listen to C418 very often and see the "Chris" song, and think it's nothing, just a song named Chris. Right whenever I watched the part of the video of him talking about the songs name I finally figured out why the song might've been named Chris. This video was just overall horrifying to watch.
As someone who is dealing with depression and has attempted, this video struck me hard. Not only as a masterpiece, but because of its deep psychological messages. This arg makes me so grateful for the friends i have who helped me through these tough times, and also reminds me of the people who derive pleasure purely from making others miserable. Sadists. This has to be the best and saddest story you've done yet. It started out with Andrew visiting a old Minecraft world he played with one of his friends to deadly wells. It's so deep and interesting! Smile just needed someone but there was no one there the only thing he had was a well. So he decided to die there to be there forever. It wasn’t smiles fault he was just getting slowly consumed by depression
Smile's backstory is possibly the most tragic of everything here. Idk how I'd react in that situation, but after the sadness rolled over, it'd probably be hate, and that hate would almost certainly turn into violence. Which explains why Chris refers to Smiles as "not kind"

the sun vanished is also a pretty good ARG. It also responds to comments and even does polls sometimes. But it's a bit long and has multiple accounts about TSV, and I would recommend it.
This is more of showing the slow descent into madness and mental illness of depression and anxiety, the fear of missing someone and trying to reach out to that said person. The fear of missing out on the old times also comes into place in this video, the need for nostalgia. The slow decline of someone’s mental capacity could be in this one video.
I can't hold my tears any longer around 1:17:20, I lost someone very dear to me I made back in 2019, and sadly died to bone cancer. There's many times where I wished I could talk to him again, even if it's in the videogames I will make or videogames I played, I wished so many times to be able to talk to him somehow, maybe through minecraft, so hearing Andrew cry just made me realize how much I miss him. I miss you Joseph, I wish you were still here.

1:23 That humming is actually something that I experienced just yesterday. I placed my half-broken headphones on the table (the mic still works fine, just the speakers in it are crappy) so I had to turn up the volume in OBS to be heard on the recordings. Well, the recording sounded tinny with that exact low-frequency hum XD
That is a feedback loop, it happens if you get the mic close to the sound source it is connected to, it then picks up the noise in the speaker and plays it there.
@@nemesissombria The only sound played is in the headphones. And I checked it, the mic doesn't pick that up at all. So it's probably the power supply's _very_ slight voltage variations getting picked up by the recording circuit and then getting amplified by 20db in software. I suspect that to be the case because it's exactly the 60Hz humming you hear in those large switch boxes outside.
this was one of the best args ive ever seen anyone cover. ive watched a lot of these style videos and usually the story is the same concept done a bunch of times but this one was original and actually interesting. i’ll put on these videos for background noise but i was interested this time very well done and awesome
1:01:28 The Minecraft tutorial world… The most nostalgic world I have seen in Minecraft, I loved playing it with my brother and when the disc for the old Minecraft legacy version got scratched up and broken. I never saw that world again.

I’m thinking the same thing. The reason this ARG is so good is because it’s a topic that is extremely relatable to most of us. I’m in my early twenties and I’m afraid of growing up. I’m afraid of losing the people I love. There were several times that I was on the verge of tears just because I know what the characters in this story are going through. This one is just too real and hits too hard for it to simply be just another fictional story.

In that case, you can play/watch a let's play of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It covers a similar story to this one in a much more fleshed out way, as the game is usually 70 hours long. Additionally, it's the only work of fiction (games, movies, shows)in my 20 years to make me full on cry TWICE, and nothing makes me cry. Mid way through the game and the end credits made me quietly sob. Truly a 10/10 masterpiece in fiction and my favorite game I've ever played in my life.
Something quick and random is that around 56:17 (give or take) there is a cow we saw moments prior that in my opinion is definitely acting strange, almost like he's watching Andrew, and i wanted dto call this out bc you mentioned that no mobs, peaceful and hostile spawn in that world, there was also a pig but the way the cow was acting it just seemed, odd
1:18 the gold zombie has no boots. If the boots didnt get destroyed by the sun or anything else, then he was spawned different because zombies cannot spawn like this naturally.

This ARG is great for multiple reasons, one that stands out is the depictions of depression in the characters and what causes people to have these feelings. It sends a message to not treat others in such ways

When the first sign saying "Leave" with description: Leave, or stay for eternity. It clicked perfectly. Chris tries to secure andrew to not become like him. Evil Smiler does want him to continue to be in his grasp. Btw, the moment i knew there were 2 shadow people in the game, i knew chris was the cryptic figure who just wanted to protect and warn andrew from Smiler, the real vilain. Side note, Smilers backstory is truly heartbreaking

im at 23:32 the theory that chris died in a well had chills running down my back but what if chris really had that fate, the dark damp tomb is the well he died in, the bones that were constantly being found by andrew were from chris' body, a more ridiculous theory is that when andrew was teleported into another dimension by swimming to the bottom its not another dimension, hes hallucinating because of the water and since andrew had potions of breathing underwater he couldnt drown while hallucinating but when chris did this same exact thing hallucinating in a well.. he had no potions.

Literally the most saddest story/ Minecraft story I've ever watched in my whole life, like Andrew is doing all his best to just find his way just to find Chris without knowing that his friend already passed away and is only communicating through making cryptic messages and help his living friend survive and not letting him end up with the same mistake.

I've watched other videos you've made about _Minecraft_ series that people have made, but this one is just... I mean... Jesus Christ.
This is more than just a _Minecraft_ ARG. The story that's being told is terrifying to see unfold, but it's also sad, and heartfelt, and seriously tugged at my heartstrings. The well being a symbol of death and the act of jumping into the well being symbolism of ending one's life... it just makes me view every moment in the series where Andrew jumps into a well in a different light, especially since he's also portrayed as someone who struggled mentally. And the messages on the signs in the "Winter Wonderland" video had made me tear up, partly because I've gone through my fair share of online friends just becoming inactive for ages and the emotional strain it puts on me, and partly because I'm already an extremely sensitive and emotional person. Andrew is an absolute genius for creating this series, and if there actually is more to come, I can't wait to see what's in store.
Although, I find that the thing I'm really latching onto more than anything is the malevolent spirit, "Smile". He isn't just being evil and creepy for the sake of being evil and creepy. He was a person who actually struggled with mental health issues, forsaken by the people in his life and the world around him, and the betrayal of his classmates he thought were his friends was the final straw. I don't think the face on his avatar was for creep factor, either. The eyes are wide, the smile looks forced. It could play into that saying that someone with depression would force themself to smile in their day-to-day life, and it could be in reference to the taunting smiles that his classmates no doubt had on their faces when they griefed him, but moreover, Smile's avatar face looks like the face of someone who's gone completely insane. And from the looks of Smile's videos, he seemed like an innocent naive child trying to make the best of his situation. Having that happen to a child who's already so close to breaking is tragic, sure, but it's also horrifying, especially when we see what became of him afterwards.
The fact that there are real people out there who punch down to rise up, and that they're willing to do that to someone who's already down, is just sickening, and honestly rage-inducing to see portrayed in Smile's last video, just because of how true to life it is. There really are people who're that cruel in real life, who don't take the thoughts of others into consideration and think they're better than everyone else, so the feelings of others therefore don't matter. They think they can do whatever they want with no consequences, and with this twisted mindset, they choose to be bad people. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH KINDNESS IN THE WORLD. EVERYONE NEEDS TO DO THEIR PART. AND THE MORE ARROGANT, ANTISOCIAL, AND OVERALL SADISTIC PEOPLE WE HAVE, THE FARTHER WE STRAY FROM A BRIGHTER FUTURE.
I don't care if Smile's classmates are likely children as well. People who act like that don't deserve to be humans. If they truly derive pleasure from manipulating, taunting, and ruining someone else's happiness, then they can rot in Hell for all I care. For me to say that, I guess it just goes to show how emotionally invested I got in this series - arguably _too_ invested, but like I said, I'm a very emotional person, and the story itself was already getting more and more emotional and heavy in tone as it progressed.
For everyone out there with depression, especially those who've lost someone special in their lives: keep going. Never give in. There are always others who truly care for you, even if it doesn't seem like it. Show compassion and love to the ones in your life, and stay as far away as you can from your well. No matter how enticing its call may seem.

this is the most a minecraft arg series has affected me. the horror element was done really well (i always enjoy a more slow, "stalkerish" horror and despite it being in minecraft it managed to be really creepy with the old textures, liminal spaces, and low resolution) but the actual story underneath it all was really tragic and haunting and beautiful. i have also struggled with suicidal tendencies AND have had friends that have considered it, and it truly is so important to be reminded that there are people around you that love and care about you and will miss you when you're gone. phenomenal work by andrew and thank you to wifies for covering it ❤

When Andrew was collecting the journals there were no mobs (as wifies said), but when Andrew had a breakdown there were some mobs spawning but only passive mobs. A cow that hid behind a wall and a pig that hid behind a tree

The way I read it (if intentional, which it probably was) was as being representative of Andrew having a moment of realisation about his life - animals being representative of life as a concept and having a closer connection to emotionality than the unfeeling plants and buildings around him

This honestly is one of, if not, the best Minecraft ARG/analog horror compilation I’ve seen. The live dialogue makes it so much more immersive and real, the acting was absolutely Leagues above the rest, a brilliant experience that’s both scary and saddening in its execution.

I feel the saddest part about stories involving suicide as a major plot point is that they mainly stem from suicide being a major point or idea in the life of the author. I hope that the creator or AndrewGaming didn't have to experience such a tragic event for this series.
No words describe what I feel through out the video. I love how the story goes to a normal video of Minecraft then it started to go both haunting and sad. This is the definition of Horror that I like, no jumpscares, no blood, just the feeling of chills, the lore, how the plot goes and so on. Despite the game is just all blocks it can be creepy in a way, maybe because of the low quality? No, its how the narrator, the actors, and how they make the story is what makes it creepy.
All in all this is by far the best video I have seen so far.

1:23 That humming is actually something that I experienced just yesterday. I placed my half-broken headphones on the table (the mic still works fine, just the speakers in it are crappy) so I had to turn up the volume in OBS to be heard on the recordings. Well, the recording sounded tinny with that exact low-frequency hum XD
That is a feedback loop, it happens if you get the mic close to the sound source it is connected to, it then picks up the noise in the speaker and plays it there.

So it's probably the power supply's _very_ slight voltage variations getting picked up by the recording circuit and then getting amplified by 20db in software. I suspect that to be the case because it's exactly the 60Hz humming you hear in those large switch boxes outside.

Honestly this was extremely beautiful and honestly it made me cry. I’ve myself been dealing with these kinds of thoughts being scared of growing up being scared that there is no future so I would just like to thank Andrew for making this although unfinished it seems I truly appreciate these topics being brought up.
I’m thinking the same thing. The reason this ARG is so good is because it’s a topic that is extremely relatable to most of us. I’m in my early twenties and I’m afraid of growing up. I’m afraid of losing the people I love. There were several times that I was on the verge of tears just because I know what the characters in this story are going through. This one is just too real and hits too hard for it to simply be just another fictional story.

In that case, you can play/watch a let's play of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It covers a similar story to this one in a much more fleshed out way, as the game is usually 70 hours long.
Additionally, it's the only work of fiction (games, movies, shows)in my 20 years to make me full on cry TWICE, and nothing makes me cry. Mid way through the game and the end credits made me quietly sob.
Truly a 10/10 masterpiece in fiction and my favorite game I've ever played in my life.

@@Muffln That’s a good point. He’s also really good at organizing the lore too. If I watched those videos, I’d think it would just be a corrupted world or some sneaky behind the scenes stuff, but he made an hour and a half long video about it.

This ARG is great for multiple reasons, one that stands out is the depictions of depression in the characters and what causes people to have these feelings. It sends a message to not treat others in such ways

After watching this video, I went back to the AndrewGaming67 channel and realized that Wifies miss a moment of the smiley figure stocking Andrew.
In the video, old Minecraft world showcase part 4, at the very end of the video when Andrew was talking about nostalgia at exactly 12 minutes and 7 seconds/12:07 you can spot in the corner of the left window. The smiley figure looking through the glass.
Just wanted to point out I’m not trying to be annoying and point out all the mistakes that wifies made I just wanted to point out something I found while watching Andrew‘s video.
And one more thing I really liked the video wifies I usually don’t watch TH-cam videos if they’re over an hour long cause I find I don’t really finish them, but this video had me locked in. I was very interested in the story and hope you make another video on the topic when Andrew decides to finish the series. thanks for the awesome content. I was very entertained the whole time.

At 47:00 , you said that a song called chris was playing. I played it and I actually cried. The story is so good and long, I could watch it many times.
When the vid was like 45 mins running, i kept wondering about Smiler. We only saw him once and everything else wzs about black ghost chris. When the first sign saying "Leave" with description: Leave, or stay for eternity. It clicked perfectly. Chris tries to secure andrew to not become like him. Evil Smiler does want him to continue to be in his grasp. Btw, the moment i knew there were 2 shadow people in the game, i knew chris was the cryptic figure who just wanted to protect and warn andrew from Smiler, the real vilain.
Side note, Smilers backstory is truly heartbreaking

the theory that chris died in a well had chills running down my back but what if chris really had that fate, the dark damp tomb is the well he died in, the bones that were constantly being found by andrew were from chris' body, a more ridiculous theory is that when andrew was teleported into another dimension by swimming to the bottom its not another dimension, hes hallucinating because of the water and since andrew had potions of breathing underwater he couldnt drown while hallucinating but when chris did this same exact thing hallucinating in a well..
he had no potions.
