Utah is very diverse and beautiful. Southern Utah gets all the attention with the red rock formations and canyons and national parks. As it should. But there is so much more to Utah than just that. It has high mountains covered with pine trees and aspens where beautiful alpine lakes are tucked beneath rugged rocky peaks. Beautiful mountain meadows with wildflowers in the summer. There are verdant valleys with a patchwork of farmland. There are salt flats west of the Great Salt Lake. And so much more. Utah is a very beautiful state.
We were in Arches National Park and watched the sunset at Delicate Arch which was amazing. It got so dark so fast and we somehow got off the trail on the way back. Our flashlight burnt out and we just had our phones which weren’t much help. Then we somehow got back on the trail and some people going up said they saw a rattlesnake to watch out. Was never so happy when we got to the car! Glad you didn’t get too lost! Hope you made it to Zion to hike the Narrows. It’s a slot canyon and you hike in the river most of the way. So beautiful and unique
Susan, being there in person, you know where you were at this point, but for viewers who don't, this is located on the northern edge of the huge Navajo Res. on the UT/AZ state line. For the record, this is the largest reservation in all the US and Canada, with around 400,000 residents, 170,000 of which can still speak their language, which is 1 of the most difficult languages in the world to learn as a 2nd. language because of tones, glottal stops and nasalizations. The night sky that you show us at 13:33 is something I've always wanted to witness, but at 77, I still haven't.😢 Thanks for sharing it.
When I saw you went from Chicago to Wyoming I was like WHY AREN'T YOU GOING TO MOAB! Utah is the hidden treasure of the USA. Colors unlike any other state in the union and the Arches are just incredible. One of the few places in the US where you do not have manmade light blocking the stars.
About 20 years ago, I went on a road trip with my youngest daughter (the other daughter couldn't make it to her later regret). Utah was one of the places we visited, and I came back saying that Utah had the most amazing mix of landscapes I'd ever seen. You can drive for two hours, and it's not like driving into a different region, it's like driving onto another planet. Mountains and forests and grasslands and high plateaus and canyon lands and mesas and deserts, all adjacent to each other. No one knew what I was talking about, and I had to show them all sorts of pictures. Now, because of the internet, everyone has discovered it. I predict that, like Colorado, we're going to see explosive growth in the population there.
Hi Susan, I like your exciting Utah Road trip with your American friends. This is one of the largest deserts in America. I would love to travel here Susan one day. I wish, I could see you. You are a kind woman
Don't miss the upper elevations of the southwest this time of year. Aspen trees alongside oak and sumac are gorgeous. Hart Prairie near San Francisco Peak is the best spot in Northern Arizona for fall colors. Aspen Corner has some subalpine trees. Working in southern Utah we have rescued more than few, and we're not even rescue people. Don't forget to bring your GPS and extra water, and expect to find others who might be lost or in need. It's easy to get accustomed to walking on slick rock, but falls happen too. Take care. Your videos are the best.
Utah is definitely not a place you want to get lost even during the day. Its very easy to lose your sense of direction if you're not used to navigating that kind of terrain.
Hey I am Akshansh love from India 🇮🇳 1) I really love this American traveling series of yours♥️. 2)Just keeping making videos like this for us and be motivated that's all what I wanna say 💪 3) Bye the way I watch all your videos but it's my first time to comment on your video in the hope that you will see my sweet message for your 😊🩷
The rock formations in the background when you first entered Monument Valley are called "The Mittens" because they look a little like fingerless gloves. Monument Valley has been used as a location in many movies. Some of the best-known: - * Stagecoach (1939) - The Harvey Girls (1946) - * My Darling Clementine (1946) - * Fort Apache (1948) - * She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949) - *The Searchers (1956) - How the West Was Won (1962) - 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) - Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) - Easy Rider (1969) - The Eiger Sanction (1975) - Back to the Future Part III (1990) - Forrest Gump (1994) - You talked about this one. I've put a star (*) on the films directed by John Ford, who shot a lot of movies in Monument Valley. People who live in cities don't experience real darkness. When you hike in a place like Monument Valley, it's a good idea to know when the sun will set and plan accordingly. It also helps to take a flashlight. If you're in a park, let the rangers know where you're going and when you expect to be back, and then check in with them when you return. Utah has a lot of great parks. In addition to Monument Valley and Canyonlands, there are Bryce Canyon, Zion, Arches, and Cedar Breaks. I hope you had a chance to see some of these as well.
You def have to make your way to the PWN then down to southern cali. It will give you a real sense of the culture and change in climate that makes the country so unique,.
All the parks in Utah are so beautiful. You are very lucky you were able to get out of there in the dark. The American wilderness can kill you and it is very dangerous to go into it unprepared. I have never seen anyone go on a serious hike in a white sundress.....too funny. So lucky you didn't step on a rattlesnake in the dark.
Were you using your drone in Canyonlands? Note for future reference: you're not supposed to use drones in the national parks. It's fine to use it at Corona Arch and Fisher Towers, though. Scary getting lost at Fisher Towers. I got off the trail during daylight when I was there and that was a pain in the butt. I wouldn't want to imagine getting off the trail at night time.

"I'm going to go through this really quick." - proceeds to slow-mo, runway walk for the camera. lol
Wooow so nice, it's amezing...I have never seen before..Thanks for making videos like this❤❤❤❤
My pleasure 😊
Visited Utah last December for the first time. I had no idea it was that beautiful. Definitely going back soon.
Northern is more green, southern is more red desert.

I think one of Tom Cruise`s Mission Impossible movies has him climbing one of those monoliths in Monument Valley if I`m not mistaken.

Utah is one of the most beautiful places in America. You're down south but if you go up north it's so different it's insane. South is way cooler tho.

Utah skyscrapers. 😂
Great video but just a word of warning. It is not legal to fly a drone in the National parks. Don’t get caught flying them in the parks.

Hello Susan 😂

Was not carved out by the Colorado river. The areas were created by ice age floods. 😊
