Sariel's second form is actually from what I know, not a yin yang orb, but some kind of lasting "embodiment", as Civilization of Magic is a mistranslation. The actual name, is "We Shall Die Together", as Sariel is dying in the middle of the second phase (which is why she is so weak and you can even see her silhouette in the second phase) EDIT: Civilization of Magic is NOT a mistranslation, that was an error.

I actually think that yin-yang orb represents what Sariel is mythologically - an angel of death and healing. Therefore yin-yang orb represents this pretty well, I think. Death and healing /black and white/death and life/etc. Japanese people seems to like a lot of symbolics and their meaning and you can see this in various other games as well :)

How many times did she defeat me, because my hands shaked so badly, I wasn't even able to cast bomb at the right time?! I took me almost one year to get good in this game. But when I finaly defeated Sariel without using continues and got first Touhou good ending, it felt like the greatest accomplishment of my life. This song fits the boss fight perfectly. I'm really glad I got to this phase with two spare lives, so I could hear more of it in game, without sending bombs in. For almost one minute. Then I had to bomb her. Or I would die. This is one of the best Touhou songs ever. But I always found it funny that one of longest songs in HRtP is in "Win fast or die fast" bossfight. But I don't mind. This game is actualy really, really good, and I love it. I don't regret starting Touhou Project with this back in 2020.
Sariel is the name of a real angel, mentioned in several ancient texts, seperate from Asriel. Every angel's name ends in either *-iel* or *-ael* which means "of God" when placed at the end of a name. In Sariel's case, the name means something along the lines of "Ruled Over by God".

As a side note, I find it interesting that apparently a lot of Touhou fans believe Sariel to be some kind of evil fallen angel even though there's no indication of that and she's fought in Makai, which was established since day one to be separate from hell, and was established later to have been created by Shinki, the only God to make a direct appearance in PC-98. In isolation, the word "Sar" (שר) in Hebrew is used to mean "ruler" or "minister" (in reference to a government minister like in Britain, not a religious minister) and on top of all that, the name of Sariel's first theme can also be translated as "Now Die, For the Debts You Accumulated". Given all of this, it seems to me more like Sariel is a loyal and faithful "Captain of the Lord's Army" (Shinki's) and not a fallen angel.

I'd imagine it would be even worse if you went after Konngara first. She doesn't have a second phase, why would Sariel be any different?

Gah! I didn't expect continue of fight when I defeated her for the fist time, and I shitted tons of bricks and died, when this boss had 1 hp.
