  • I wanted to respond to several comments from people who have encouraged me to purchase a Toyota Tundra. In this video I wanted to outline two simple reasons why the Tundra would not work for me and my needs.

    Traded my 23 tundra in for a 24 Silverado. Wow. Silverado no wind noise or issues with windows, doors, trim...no issues with speakers or crappy tech...so much more solid. PLUS they give you 100,000 mile warranty on the powermax engine. So happy to get out of that big recall

    • @hochhaul
      @hochhaul หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The wind noise was awful in the 2022 Tundras I test drove. The 1794 trim I drove had engine oil or transmission fluid dripping under it when we got back to the dealer. That was the end of that. I feel like I dodged a bullet with all the engine and transmission problems with that truck.

    I traded my 2022 Tundra for a Titan 4ProX after the recall and other quality control issues. Super happy with my decision. I feel at ease when going camping without having to worry about driving a ticking bomb.

      @@nickforest7816 it's the math on the payload. It Will do it, but it will be over payload. You can't put 1200 lbs of tongue weight plus 500 lbs of people and not overload the payload capacity of 1300 lbs. People do it, but that is not a number I am willing to grossly exceed.

    I have a 2023 Toyota Tundra, and I love it!! I have a Forest River Grey Wolf 26 foot trailer, and it pull this trailer with ease. I have also pulled the largest U-haul trailer loaded to the gills from Ohio to Idaho, and it pulled that with no problem, even on the big hill on I-80. I have had a few minor things happen with mine, and for the most part, it has been a wonderful vehicle. I have not experienced the many issues that other Tundra owners have. I have not had wind noise, no issues with seals or the tech, including the sound system. My only issue is a design flaw with the seat control cover that cracks over time. I wonder why mine is different from those that have had all the issue in the last comment. I had a 2020 Tundra before that, and it was a great truck as well.

I was concerned about the injector problem you had but it seems like it is resolved. So three questions. 1. Have you had any other serious problems with the engine? 2. The outside looks alright but the seats felt uncomfortable compared to the Express/Savana vans I drove for work in the past despite being almost a 30 year old design. I ended up buying a Ram 2500 Cummins partly due to the seats just being more comfortable and the upholstery being softer than the Silverado.

Also the local Toyota dealer thinks his trucks are made of gold with the huge dealer markups - at least until the engine fiasco. As with any engine, oil change intervals are key to long life. The Tundra is made in Texas but domestic parts content has fallen by like 30% over the last 10 years. GM fullsize trucks get screwed by rankings because there are three plants making half-tons, one in Canada, one in Indiana, and one in Mexico. The plant in Indiana makes crew cab Silverado 1500's and Sierra 1500's. The plant in Mexico makes a mix of regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab 1500's. Don’t know why anyone would do a video and whine about nothing. Nobody cares what ya buy or like. Just about all the truck manufacturers are experiencing stupid stuff that should have never left the factory. Plus anyone who spends 60-100 thousand dollars for a $50,000 truck to include this ridiculous interest rate, needs to seek professional help. But who I’m I? I’m looking hard for my next truck but I’m it’s not easy. A Silverado is stretching the budget to tight so I started to look harder at a Chevy Colorado. Then I saw a WT with the 2.7 with 237 hp and started to crunch numbers. It’s only 51% made in USA. The price difference to get the turbo max , the towing package and what you need to add to get it is over $3000 more. It’s rated for 7700 lbs which does it for me but I really feel left out. Is it really going to do what I want? Do I really need to spend an extra $9000 and get a half ton? I’m incapable of making that decision so I’m hunting for inspiration from videos like yours. Thanks

      Unfortunately idk why , but mine (2.7 gmc Sierra/same engine as the Chevy)
      But mine had the engine replaced shy of the 100k mile mark due to a misfire and the dealership saying they would need to tear it down to find out why it’s misfiring
      Thankfully I have the extended warranty on the truck (6yr warranty-until 2027 unlimited miles)
      But prior to that issue the only small issues that occurred was the purge vale failing along with both the engine & transmission oil control valves failing and remaining in the opened position & went through two radiators bc for some odd reason they were leaking
      Other than that it is a great engine but idk if I simply got a bad engine from the start
      Bc I made sure to change out the engine oil every 5k and @90k I replaced the spark plugs(manual says to do so if it’s the turbo 2.7 if it is the V8 5.3 100k miles is the suggested replacement time frame)
      Truck now sits at 106,286 miles and no issues but I remain doing the 5k oil change intervals
