They're known as the Schools of Dune. Mentats/Navigators/Sisterhood. Outstanding collection! That hardback is sublime! Love the turquoise edge papers. Exquisite. Thanks Brian! I have most in hard back.
DUNE! We Love to see it! I only have one physical copy of Dune. Its that same ACE hardcover you have. I have been trying to get my wife to get me the trade pb set. I'm loving The Blackest Heart, by the way, even if I am reading it much slower than I wanted. I have had to replace my night reading time wiht worl lately. Yay!
I recently finished The Forgetting Moon. The book was bloody brilliant. It might be the most underrated fantasy book ever. I was getting major George RR Martin vibes while reading. The pacing is perfect. I’ve been in a real reading slump lately, slowly trudging my way through all the big names in fantasy. I know you get a lot of comparisons to John Gwynne, but this is even better than the Faithful and the Fallen. This is really giving me flashbacks to reading Asoiaf and Wheel of time for the first time. I couldn’t put the book down.
They have the 2nd and 3rd books in the Dune series slated to come out early 2023 in the same format as the Dune Collector's Edition. I think they are like $40 each on Amazon? But yes, such a beautiful collector's edition!
I really like the style of the original set you bought, the artwork is awesome and just has a sense of size, the head on the messiah cover and the man worm on the god emperor cover are very large. But I will say i have the first 3 books of the new set and I like the colors, they have a good color which sets them apart and has a nice reaction in my mind
I love your collection! I know the Ace publisher already published both Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. Looking forward to getting those! Hope they release the last three.
Fast forward to 2024, and I'd imagine those vintage paperbacks might be worth a good bit; not that you'll be letting go of them. 😊 I read the Dune series from library books, and own the Ace deluxe editions of Dune and Dune Messiah. I also have the Collectors extended edition of 1984 Dune on DVD. I enjoyed seeing your collection.
Great video. I have all the Brian Herbert and Anderson books in hardcover, bought them as they came out. You are missing one other trilogies The Duke, The Lady, The Heir of Caladan, published recently, and two other books Paul of Dune and Winds of Dune. Having all these on my TBR and have never read any of them. Brian would love if you reviewed some of them.
You 100% owe it to yourself to obtain the Folio Society's latest edition of Dune. It is absolutely, monumentally awesome, and is one of my most treasured books in my collection.
I have MMP of first 3 books from I think late 80's in good condition, I'll send them to you of you want them, I'll send you a message with pics of books via Instagram.
Ace is putting out the next 2 dune books in that style. Barnes n noble is also putting an exclusive edition of that ace collectors edition this year
@Maya Nightwolf Unfortunately Dune messiah is currently priced at $50.00. A bit on the expensive side for a shorter book.
Ive come to learn that you can never go wrong with more than one copy of a book and Dune is certainly no exception!
Enjoyed that 15 second cameo of your Smilodon [saber tooth] at the beginning.🐯
According to Amazon they are coming out with a box of the first three books I’m sure separate as well. I will be getting it when it comes out
I googled "Brian Lee Durfee Dune" and this is what I got. Brian Lee Durfee is the best book review dude of all time

Came for Brian, stayed for the pretty cat.

The old 1965 and mid 70s paperback Dune book covers are so rad!!

Agh. The Chilton cover is so beautiful, and I pray it joins your collection soon. The price just continues to go up though.
The copy of Dune with the blue coloured pages is nothing short of amazing!. Great collection.
Love this video! So great to see your Dune collection and hear your enthusiasm for the series.

The books written by Frank Herbert are the SF equivalent of LOTR.
Except 10 times more complex but I agree
100% agree
Sf?

Cool. I really need to read "Heretics of Dune" & "Chapterhouse Dune".
Great video.

Need to add Easton press and folio editions ....those are the best imo.
I finished reading the Dune series earlier this year :D
Those are the 'dopest' set of books you have in terms of covers :-)
The original covers are 👌🏼
I think that prequel trilogy is called 'Horsefloggers Of Dune'.
Cool collection Brian, is that background noise at 6:32 your AC?
I don’t know what it is but anytime Dune is in the title of the video I will automatically click on it.
Starring Durfee’s cat

that sound good?
(All jokes aside, that collection is amazing)
You can own as many copies of these books as you want, it's not going to give you any more insight or understanding into them.
but they are cool to have.
