I have that red leather-bound edition of LOTR. I saw it at a Borders bookstore; when it came out; and wanted it so bad, but couldn't afford it....So, I treated myself to it, during the lockdowns of 2020. I bought it from an Ebay seller. I've got all of those Unfinished Tales paperbacks, plus three editions of The Silmarillion; the Ted Nasmith illustrated ( blue) book, and two U.S. first edition, first printings of The Silmarillion, one with the dust jacket, one without. There's something very aesthetically pleasing about the stylistic art on those newer mm paperbacks. I recently got the Houghton Mifflin three book box set, that has the cream colored dust jackets with Alan Lee illustrations. It's a nice reading set.
My Mom has had the red leather bound version for decades. She read LOTR to my brother and me during my early teen years. Then I read the story on my own years later when the movies came out. I did each installment exactly a month before the movie. A decade later my family and I went to New Zealand and visited some LOTR film locations. We handled some real sharp weapons and put on some costumes. My Mom and I re-enacted the duel between Eowyn and the Lord of the Nazgûl. Only thing missing was a spiked mace. And I could not see a blasted thing out of my Nazgûl headgear! Got pictures; wish I could show them.
"Turned me invisible to every hot chick on the planet" :))))) C'mon, you are a beefy guy with tattoos, that is attractive to a lot of hot chicks. Sooo many beautiful and different versions of LOTR, wow , absolutely amazing.
Lord of the Rings is my fave. Grew up with the BBC radio production as a kid. Read my parents copies from the 70s. I have a neatly designed set of black paperbacks I found down here in Australia with cool simple iconography for the 5 main books. And I have the Folio Society hardbacks as well
I personally never been drawn to fantasy books. But if Ill read a fantasy book during my holidays. I've seen lotr the movie though. But I understand the books are on another level.
Nice video, man! We have some overlap in our collections! Last year I got the 50th Ann. LotR edition, and this year I got the red leather LotR and the HC boxed set! What I don’t have is a Tolkien tattoo, I’d like to get one some day! And the helmet. And the swords. Cheers!
This made me laugh! Great collection, I’m a huge Tolkien fan, I don’t do multiple copies for any other author, have 3 LotR copies and 3 for The Hobbit. Got almost everything else minus some of the Histories and the Fall of Arthur. I even have his transcription of Ancrene Riwle, and his Middle English vocabulary
And thank you for taking the time to reply while I'm still watching your video. Shows the dedication that many other people on TH-cam usually don't have
Also, that was the same set I had when I was a kid, too. You've kept them in much better condition than I have. I actually bought them on a trip with my mom to Amish country. XD
I enjoy people who are passionate about just about anything and I love Fantasy as well, especially Tolkien. Looks like you have great memobellia. How about a tour.? You could be the first to Fantasy: Cribs. But you may become even more invisible.
“We’re not animals, people! We take care of our books!” 🤣
Very nice collection and I enjoyed your humor and energy! 😎👍
The red book is incredibly beautiful! Wow
"I don't use a sandwich as a book mark!" man that made me laugh so loud. Brian you rock!!!

That illustrated box set is gorgeous! I'll get them eventually. Awesome video 😎😎
The perfect video to a cup of coffee in the morning ☕️
Alan Lee got me into reading the Lord of the Rings. My favorite fantasy series.
I gave a like because you kept the books falling over in. Never change.
The Hobbit and A Wrinkle in Time got me into fantasy and sci-fi at a young age. Great collection, Brian.
Beautiful collection!!

Your whole personality inevitably wants me to read your books as something to fill the gap after completing Tolkien
Thanks!!!

Do you have new illustrated editions of Unfinished tales and The Silmarillion?
Awesome collection! Are you gonna check out the new HarperCollins edition that drops later this year?
we need to see your art

There's so much passion about the stuff you talk about in your videos. Keep up the good work.
