    Hi, please do a video on the best methods you use to open your ecus. The way your ecus are opened i think it's done best. Lids are not contoured, bent, etc. I want to learn it but of course learn from the best.

      Some stuff I bought from newark. I think its called techline. It doesn't work all that well. Usually brass brush is needed.

    Have you noticed the cracks in the plastic housing that run across the wire bonding pads? do the units you disassembled have that same crack? I have looked at 2 so far there is a crack running left to right across the field of pads. It may or may not have anything to do with the failures...not sure. If the chip is bad like you showed then obviously the crack is not the problem

    • @ecurepair
      @ecurepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I have seen what you mentioned, but the problem with these is always the mpc. Im going to start taking them again soon. Stayed tuned for some videos!

    • @CarlosElHalabi
      @CarlosElHalabi ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, wouldn’t reballing be possible on that board you have pulled apart? That is a MPC562 if I’m not wrong

    • @CarlosElHalabi
      @CarlosElHalabi ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you, it’s basically impossible to do this without destroying the plastic case. Most of this modules never were built with ease of repair in mind. I also agree with you, they never took the appropriate care of their customers with this, and bonded wire really sucks.

    • @ecurepair
      @ecurepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarlosElHalabi Yes you can reball it but you need to remove the board from the case and remove all the bonding wire. Underneath the mpc is also a medium sized flash bga chip and bga eeprom. and I mean DIRECTLY under it. so you need to reball and reflow all of them together because they will bridge. The bga alone doesnt bother me, I have nice equipment for that. If I had a wire bonding machine I would probably do them again but with trying to rewire the connector plus all the bga work, its just too much time for me to invest in it with all my other work. The case is easy to cut and board is pretty easy to remove. It all can be put back together pretty nicely with the silicone adhesive I use. Mostly it was just the wire bonding that was the final straw. The contacts on connector are also aluminum so its not easy to replace them with copper jumpers.

    What is the best way to get the back plate off of my TCM I’m trying to take it apart so that I could hand it off to a guy and see if he’s able to repair it

    • @ecurepair
      @ecurepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      The back plate is glued to the plastic housing and the pcb. Its best to leave it. If you want to separate the pcb from it, hen you need to cut the plastic housing away, shim the pcb off it, and you would need to break the 50-100 bonding wires to separate the pcb from connector and heatsink completely.

  • @JZX834L
    @JZX834L ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you heard of these having a faulty speed sensor input? Have one right now that the sensor was replaced on and wiring tested ok.

    • @ecurepair
      @ecurepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      No but I dont mess with them too often.

  • @dudewhoareu
    @dudewhoareu ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What if you set the tcm on dry ice so the heatsink keeps that side of the board kinda cool I wonder if that would work?

    • @ecurepair
      @ecurepair  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When reballing you need to have a good even heat on the pcb as well as the chip. Since the pcb is attached to the heatsink
      Its actually better to have the heatsink heated to a safe temperature just under the melting point. Then get the top heat just right.
