    As a Roman Catholic, I'm delighted to own this Diadem with the Apocrypha, and I think the $230 or so that I paid on Evangelical Bible is well worth it. I bought the hardback when it first came out and have given it away. I have the full yap Schuyler RSV with Apocrypha, and I sure wish they'd follow Cambridge's lead!

      Hey.. Which would you prefer in terms of quality, Diadem or Schuyler.. like the construction quality, look, reading ease, etc.. thanks

      Sorry for the delay in replying. This is June 2024 and Evangelical Bible just released the ESV with apocrypha in full yapp. I definitely prefer the Schuyler. The font is Milo 10 point and is much easier to read for my Eyes. I really prefer the Schuyler method of placing the references at the bottom of the page rather than wedged in between the two columns. Both the Cambridge in calfskin And the Schuyler in goat skin are bound by Royal Jongbloed In the Netherlands, which means they are both of the highest quality. I bought the Diadem Back when it was first released in leather with the apocrypha, and it has been a daily reader. However, as of two weeks ago, it has been replaced by the Schuyler.

    This is currently my favorite Bible. I usually use it in conjunction with my 2019 Book of Common Prayer for devotions and such.

    Interesting how you presented the Diadem, Mr. Tim. I also reviewed the diadem in calfsplit. Also with the Apocrypha. Did a comparison of both the hard and the calfsplit since they have exactly the same layout and pagination, the hardback is excellent as a pew bible. So I focused more on what the books of the Apocrypha can bring on the table. So I focused on the added value of the Apocrypha on the entire text. In any case, I like how you compared it with the other bibles. It gave me an idea as well. Actually, I have been loving this diadem as well. Specifically it's very portable.

    Finally a high-quality ESV with Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical books! Been waiting a long time for a quietly ESV with Apocrypha. I’m going to pick one up when I have a chance.

      @@Sirach144 My only complaint with the Schuyler Bibles with the Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical books, is they place them in back, and not in the middle (preferably it be nice if they placed them in the order of the septuagint). Schuyler makes beautiful Bibles.

    I’m glad you compared it to the Allan merivia leather because I have one of those. I find it a bit too smooth in my hand so I’m happy with the calfsplit diadem I’ve got now that I can see the difference here! And I did not know it was 33gsm. Bonus!

    My Hardcover should be here today. Wanted a reader bible that was smaller than my wide margin study bible. I wanted to go leather, and almost did, but when the hardcover is just $25 shipped from the Zon, it's hard to beat. I love that red, but that one is way over the calf-split :) Like I've said on other videos of yours, GIMME ALL YOUR HARDCOVERS! :)

      @@timwildsmith that red is gorgeous. Now I have the ESV wide margin, the ESV Diadem, so that means I need the ESV Pitt Minion now. That means I'm gonna have to buy leather because that isn't a hardcover edition :)

    This quality and specs of this bible make it perfect for what I'm looking for...except that I want it in the NRSVue. Are any of the after market rebinders able to pull off that minor modification? 😆

    I bought the hardcover and it helped me decide I will not be getting the leather edition. This Cambridge bible is too wide for my liking (I prefer personal size large print bibles) and the print is still too small for comfort. It’s still a good bible and I love the apocrypha being included and I recommend it to people looking for it! It’s just not for me. Thank you for this review!

    Could it be that a softcover Bible lies flatter and better opened on the table? I sometimes have the feeling that hardcover bibles are harder to open and lie a little stiffer on the table.
    But it could be that I'm wrong.

    • @oryandunn
      @oryandunn 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have this in the hard cover, and it lays flat in Genesis very easily. It’s a very nice hard cover. Tim mentioned the paper was more coarse than the leather edition; I have a goatskin Pitt Minion which has the same type of paper, and while it is nicer, the paper on this hardcover is also very nice and smooth. I wouldn’t say the paper is coarse at all. In fact I probably prefer the paper in this card cover even though it technically isn’t as premium.
